  • This a short video tutorial showing how to map Koala Sampler to the AKAI MPD32 Midi controller. The AKAI MPD32 offers 3 banks of knob and fader control and 4 banks of pad control. More tutorials to come.

    Yo, you can reprogram the mpd32 midi notes so the pads and banks work exactly how you want it, you can also reprogram the transport to work with koala, I reprogrammed one of those generic presents to say “koala” and did it all within the controller, hit preset, right arrow and save...also I changed those light up buttons under the faders from toggle to note so the buttons only light up when you press them and in light when you let go and have those switch through the sequences

      That’s dope to know on the midi note reprogram. I lose my remapped notes when I unplug the mpd32. I know about the transport buttons tho. When I made the this video initially they didn’t work. I did ask the dev to add that function in beta. I have a follow video coming on the transport buttons tho. That cool on the switching sequences as well. Wasn’t a big fan of it initially but can add some dope variations to a beat

      Anubis thank you! The mini series is nice for its size and with midi mapping ability you will be off and running. MPD32 is a great also because its current resale price being so low and the number of buttons, faders, and knobs able to be mapped. It is a bit large for transport.

    Really helpful insight into the over-lapping pad assignments - that’s weird - but a fair warning. I just got an MPD218 for $50 and Akai still supports Editor Software for configuring the midi note and cc’ parameters. I was looking at the 32 because of the faders and transport controls, but that pad overlap and no editor software is a bummer.

    hello! Nice turoial here. This is my second time watching your vid (i did not understand last night. lmao). So this basically works just like midi commander. I am using my koala with my tablet connected to myt synth (korg kross 61) and I was kinda frustrated why my 2 samplers were OCTAVES APART. lol I will be playing DuranDuran's Wild boys in the band and i figured I would want to sample the "wild boys chant/shout" parts since someone gave me a vocals only copy. but then like i said i was flabbergasted when my samplers were an octave apart of each other.

      Thanks for watching the video. I hope it helped with your music making. Not sure if I understand why you’re experiencing trouble with your sampler. Hopefully you can figure it out. If I find out why that’s occurring I’ll definitely let you know. Thanks

    Great tutorial man, looks like the best controller for Koala. If you run midi into the MPD, I assume it’ll use the incoming clock, so you can sync Koala with other equipment?

    • @mindalteringfx316

      The Mpd 32 is a great controller. I would assume you can run an incoming clock. I haven’t tried it yet myself though.

    Thank you so much for the video. Wow another use for the MPD. Would it be fair to assume that I can use the MPD26 in the same manner but with compensation for the lower number of faders (basically a MPD218 with faders)? By the way since the pandemic started in 2020 the MPD32 is really hard to find for under $200. Thats why I have 2 MPD26's and a MPD218. I paid less for all 3 units than what the going price is currently for one MPD32.

    • @mindalteringfx316
      @mindalteringfx316  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey sorry for the delay. You should be able to use it the same way as the MPD32 more or less. The Mpd32 has definitely been harder to find but available on eBay from time to time under $200 bucks or less. Thanks for checking out the video. Glad to help.

      You will need a powered usb most phones because the iPhone doesn’t provide enough power for mpd32. You can use a portable battery pack to power the usb hub. The usb adapter is needed to connect the hub
