    This is a quote from Coppola himself:
    “Only in retrospect did things really add up. You have to remember, while this was a tragedy, that the difference in age between Victor and the boy was very small -- Victor was practically a child himself.” (Actually, Salva was 29 to the boy’s 12.)”
    Pretty obvious that Coppola doesn’t think forcing a child to give you oral sex is a problem and he’s even (mistakenly) tried to downplay the ages of Salva and the boy to make it more acceptable.

    Never trust someone who wants to spend more time with your child than you do. Also, people thinking you're weird for suspecting someone, even if they haven't done anything (that anyone knows of) or hurting an adult's feelings or making them feel uncomfortable is not more important than your kid's safety. If something feels off, trust that feeling.
    Also, Salva isn't the only monster in this story; everyone who stood by him and supported him and ignored his conviction for SA-ing a child, are also complete pieces of human sewage. Completely hate Francis Ford Coppola now. Disgusting.

    In retrospect, this all plays out in the Jeepers films. There’s a dark, frightening man, a “creep”, who essentially hunts down attractive young men. He even gets an erotic thrill from sniffing them, before taking them away to have his way with them. There are all these homo-erotic shots of young male bodies. Of course, I didn’t really notice when I first watched, and didn’t know about the abuse until more than 10 years after watching the movies. What really shocks me is Copolla, who I used to hero worship. Salva’s “mistakes” were made when he was in his 30’s and the victims were minors. Creeper indeed.

    • @karaoconnoraliasraidra
      @karaoconnoraliasraidra ปีที่แล้ว +50

      Roger Ebert noted that Jeepers Creepers 2 was oddly homoerotic, pointing out a particular scene in which a group of four or five teenage boys stand side by side in a row while one of them pees. The in-universe explanation was that the peeing boy was scared to be alone with a monster on the loose, but Ebert noted the composition was unnatural.

    • @gee_emm
      @gee_emm ปีที่แล้ว +56

      @@karaoconnoraliasraidra That’s interesting! Notice the adults all get ‘whisked away’, literally and then the Creeper is only interested in the males, sniffing, penetrating and then taking them away or consuming them. The worst part is the first 2 are actually decent horror films. It’s amazing what you don’t notice when you are young and naïve.

      Nate didn't help himself, by spending so much energy whinging over the fact that his wee-wee got diddled a couple of times when he was 9, and so little on mastering his craft as an actor. This is no less absurd than Congolese women, who endlessly bemoan the fact that they ended up in the middle of a gang bang put on by the local militia. all because said gang bang wasn't 100% consensual. If these broads had any idea just how much effort us Westerners put into making ourselves candidates for getting laid, they'd be grateful for the service that those militias are providing to run of the mill women like themselves, free of charge

    • @piemuggs

      No, it ruined his life. Nathan is my cousin and is a hard drug addict and has been since he was a teenager. He also sexually abused my sister and others in my family, as he was the oldest of all the children, the behavior he learned from Victor trickled down. Our moms are to blame as well, as they did a terrible job protecting us and constantly allowed dangerous people into our lives and had little interest in what was really going on in our lives. Because of what happened to Nathan, I was sexually abused from as early as I could form memories, so I'm thinking since I was 1 years old, because I have memories of sexual abuse at the age of 2. My family thinks of Nathan as the only one who was wronged, but they ignore the fact that it got to all of us.

    I think a lot of people don't understand what you pointed out about the parents being groomed as well. Too often we all scream "How could the parents be so blind? How could they let this happen?" as what the predator is doing to the parents is barely ever discussed.
    Who is going to think someone would spend literal *years* to work up to something like that and just to get to your child? I imagine even if you did have suspicions the others adults around you would think you had lost your mind and were overly paranoid. They have their camouflage so perfectly in place that a parent would probably start think they are crazy themselves.
    I needed to hear this perspective. It has helped me understand so much as to how and why this can happen right under their noses.

      I think these parents are just deeply in denial and care more about “social niceties” than the safety of their children.
      Why wait for your your child to say “yes the relationship is inappropriate”. They are a child and may not even understand what inappropriate is?
      Having her banned from set should have been a sign enough. If I had suspicions, and noticed any change in my child’s behavior - I’m separating them 🤷🏻‍♀️
      I hope more people realize that it’s hard for people to realize they are “victims” while the abuse is active 😔 they are likely still in shock / dissociation / disbelief.

I haven't been a fan of Coppola as a human being for a while; for a while; in the early 1980s, he dangled the promise of a role in one of his movies to adult film actress Shauna Grant, who wanted to break into mainstream acting. She was his guest at some adult industry events and parties, but he strung her along and never cast her -- a possible factor in her self-un-aliving.

    • @superhotnutjob
      @superhotnutjob 2 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      I'm not defending FFC or Sylva in any way, but you have to know that wasn't the clause, right? They don't word it illegally.
      They'll put a clause that says "if your kid misses more than an hour of required time, we can sue you." Then they say that the time that the kid and the family took to do whatever they needed to do to report and stop the crime from happening is time away from required time, and they can sue. For example, if the clause is "can;t refuse required rehearsal time," and the kid refused to rehearse, because rehearsing meant being alone in a trailer with their abuser, they would still be seen as a breach of contract.
      Again, I'm not defending these practices. I'm just pointing out that a lot of people go through micro-grooming behaviors when they are in the periphery of an abuser. We are all often guilty of missing some "orange flags" when we are around someone who abuses people. So... one last time... not defending, just saying we all have a hand in exposing abusers. It sounds harsh but in ancient Greece they did that and most men avoided doing that because of fear they would lose their parts. Sadly i had a friend that did a terrible thing to his step-sister and i have nothing to do with him. Especially now that i have a small child. He was my best friend and never thought he could ever do that. He's in there for 15 years but could be out earlier with good behavior. And because he was an adult that committed the crime, he will have to register when he gets out. Even though he was mine and my fiancé's best friend, i hope nothing but the worse for him. I also think they shouldn't be in protective custody, they should be in general population so it's easy for them to be brutally punished by those that hate those actions.

Same with Jeepers Creepers 2, the boys are practically shirtless for no reason throughout most of the movie and they hold onto those shots for way too long like there’s a scene where at least 5 of the teenager boys are on top of the bus sun tanning and they hold onto that shot for a while, I use to think it was just to give us girls some eye candy like they do for guys but now it’s just uncomfortable and I see it differently now. Thank you everyone for your continued support and open disgust and dialogue on the trauma that my family and I all were forced to endure. Throughout Victors career my family and I have fought to keep the truth in circulation with the sole intent being the continued protection of every child and prevention CSA as it is rampant in our society and so true in my case glossed over and made to seem as something trivial and less severe as it truly was. Not only was FFC Salvas biggest supporter but a public liar as well. Like so many others in the industry. They have continuously coddled Victor and made bs excuse after bs excuse for his sickness and the abuse I suffered for nearly six years of my young life. The ex CEO for Disney Michael Isner I believe it was publicly lied and went on to say that the abuse consisted of a one time inappropriate touching incident between an adult and a consenting minor. Which paints a much different picture in the minds of the less informed. He intentionally lied and made it seem as though this was between a young adult and someone very near the legal age. When in fact at the time of his arrest Salva was 29 and I was a math away from my 12th birthday. FFC then went on to in a public statement claiming that Victor was practically a child himself when the abuse took place. Fact and truth: I was 6 when Victor was 23 and began abusing me on a regular. He was charged with 11 counts of child molestation including oral copulation with a child under 14 and filming oral copulation with a child under 14. However, thanks to FFC and Hollywood money(as well as a good deal of misinformation and straight up lying to my parents by MY attorney Stan Casper)Salava was given a plea bargain dropping 7 of the most severe charges and convicted on only the 4 lesser charges. Which granted him a laughable sentence of 3 years for a crime that took him 6 years to commit. Of which he served a mere 15 months in a rehabilitation treatment facility in Napa Valley California. Truth and fact is Victor never spent a single moment in a real prison and truth fact had a movie deal waiting for him upon his release from the cushy treatment facility. Fact and truth FFC told me to my 12 year old face that I would never work in the industry again and I never did. Thank you sincerely on behalf of myself and all those closest to me. Keep the truth alive and spread the truth like a wildfire. Please remember that education is prevention. The more you can learn about CSA and what to look for in predators as well as tell tail signs in victims the better your chances are at stopping it. If interested in more information you can expect more from me in the very near future including a documentary, a non-profit called “we r their voice” as well as a speaking tour to help educate and prevent CSA titled “Taking Action, Breaking Silence” or T.A.B.S. For short. It is time for us to evict this common attitude our culture has adopted that “it’s not my child, it’s not my problem.” Because that couldn’t be further from the truth. As adults we all, everyone of us have an obligation and responsibility to protect every child be it our own or not. That is where our future lays. In our children and what kind of message are we giving to them if we won’t fight to keep them all safe?

      My mother accompanyed me every day I had to be at Coppola's house. Heres a little food for thought. While at Coppola's house after dubbing was finished for the day. Coppola's then teenaged daughter Sofia was celebrating her 16th birthday. She had 2 friends over, several brand new cars parked on the front lawn to choose from as her and her 2 friends played croquet and drinking st. Paulie's girls out of green bottles they noticed me watching and came to talk to me. They were extremely flirty with my 12 year old self and asked me to convince my mother to allow me to stay the night there and celebrate her birthday as a guest. I begged my mom for over an hour but she refused to let me stay. At the time I was really pissed off at her but as an adult in hind sight I understand completely and am very grateful. It begs the question what did Sofia have in mind asking a 12 year old boy at 16 to stay the night?

Internally. From some horrible sexual deviance.
      As a grown woman that nearly died of Sepsis, I can't imagine how Heather must have felt. She was left with that man constantly!! 🥺 what they say about the red shoes, idk. It's completely possible, ANYTHING is.

    There's no way in hell Disney didn't know he went to prison, unless the person hiring didn't do their job. I think the entertainment industry knows who are terrible people and look past it because there's too many of them and it'd be harder to find someone that wasn't terrible. I mean, look at the movie Amsterdam coming out soon. The director David O. Russell admitted to SA-ing his niece, plus he's a terrible person to work with in general (Clooney almost beat the crap out of him on set because he abused an extra on set in front of everyone) and BIG names are STILL working with him to make that movie (including Taylor Swift, Anya Taylor-Joy, Margot Robbie, Christian Bale, Chris Rock, etc).
    Why hold others to a "high" (the bare minimum, really) standard if you yourself are doing shady things too? I'm very suspicious of his pal Francis for pushing that hard to cover Victor's ass....
