I’ve worked with SO in prison as a counselor (why I quit in the end). A lot of clinical therapy for SO is very sanitized language to not be direct about the abuse they cause. It’s watered down to “your behavior”. So I’m not surprised he referred to it in a watered down way.
Because he didn't say it against an officer, so it would be without consequences, lying happens more when there are no consequences. And if they would talk with him and he would say it was a joke or a lie then they wouldn't have enough proof to even get a search warrant, since there is no victim they can actually point to and no proof of the crime... I don't know what they could have done, I think they could have done more, like starting an investigation to get the proof they needed to arrest him (like the FBI did), but I fully understand why he can't get arrested outright on just this statement. It sucks, but that is just the way it works. There are people that lie about doing crime frequently, even against the police and it sends cops on a wild goose-hunt, which takes resources away from crimes that are actually happening and require investigation.
A confession is rarely enough to prosecute a suspect successfully. They can always say they felt pressured to confess or take their statement back. It’s preferable to have a solid case that the jury HAS to convict on to avoid them voting not guilty and the suspect being set free due to lack of evidence. Which requires a good amount of solid evidence.
Objectively speaking it's valid probable cause in many states and more than enough to begin a full investigation at the very least, so I feel like it has more to do with the PD and FBI being lazy and/or corrupt, as what they said is obvious BS

As a former prosecutor, I just wanted to confirm - you can get a warrant based on recordings. And, even if the FBI was concerned with the credibility of Rochelle’s evidence, it’s definitely enough to start an investigation. Hell, all the FBI needed do was conduct a recorded phone call of their own - and, if he told Rochelle that he had child pornography on his computer and/or phone, they could have easily gotten a search warrant for the devices. This case reminds me of the Epstein case. According to the current charges, Epstein trafficked minors to … no one. It’s been years, and they even caught Ghislaine Maxwell (who procured the girls), but they haven’t charged a single perpetrator who visited the island. It’s disgusting.
i think it's still an active investigation, but i don't have much faith since powerful people are often above the law. my best hope is that they're taking so long because they're handling it extremely delicately since it's such a massive case that they can't take any possible chance of getting it thrown out. though optimism usually isn't the realistic path when it comes to powerful people facing consequences for their atrocities.

what really strikes me about this case is the unwillingness of police to actually do anything. Remember, one of Jeffrey Dahmer's victims escaped naked into the streets, found cops and the cops returned the victim to Dahmer, who claimed it was a "lover's spat". The victim of course was murdered shortly thereafter. Or more recently, you have Uvalde's police refusing to take on a shooter murdering school children because they didn't want to get shot. If the police aren't willing to actually protect children, exactly what purpose are they serving in our communities? I do understand that there needs to be probable cause and all that, but they seem to find very flimsy 'probably cause" in traffic stops where they want to harass someone over weed.
The sad part about the law is that it can't do much without physical evidence. Lots of crimes continue to happen even though people report them bc the police need physical evidence. Otherwise the police would have to check every claim made to them, even false ones and trolls. I know it really sucks. Because the right way to catch pedophiles is running sting operations that produce evidence that will convince a jury in a court of law. Infiltrating a porn ring that is distributing actual pornography, for example. A guy bragging that he went to Thailand and had tons of sex isn't very strong evidence. Some people just get off on making up shit that never happened. You can not get a conviction by going into a chatroom and baiting guys into talking about weird depraved fantasies they have. Even on To Catch a Predator, they had to have the suspects actually show up to the house to stand a chance of a conviction. You wouldn't want those laws changed to make it so that anything you say online is potential grounds for a search warrant.

If I had to guess it's because TH-cam and garbage media outlets are in cahoots. Awesome channels like Dreading (stellar content and free) compete with shows on television that have millions of dollars put into them. Imagine what would happen to television networks if everybody tuned into JCS, Dreading, etc! I think TH-cam tries to make it hard for people like Dreading to earn a living off their videos to help their garbage friends out in the media.
Rochelle is a strong and brave woman. Most people wouldn't do what she did to get these disgusting monsters locked up. My father was sentenced to 16 years (served 11) for him and a couple friends stealing a car and having a lot of weed on them. The vehicle they stole was owned by my dad's sisters employer. They chose it for the sole purpose that they knew he didn't drive (my aunt was an in home nurse for him) and probably that impact on him wouldn't be as severe as an impact on like a single mother. One of his friends had a weapon... it had never been discharged..... Pretty much the moment the Jared news came out, me and my family were pulling off the freeway to stop at a Subway on our way to New Orleans, and I still remember the manager having to come running outside to frantically tear down all the Jared-Related advertisements on the front of the building. I'm a court employee and I have to read affidavits and review evidence for animal abuse, child abuse, sexual assault, murder and assault cases. I also speak with victims and the families of victims and review their impact statements. I've also had multiple friends be murdered. I think the people who do their makeup and make light of the crimes have a tendency to be disrespectful to the survivors and victims without even noticing. In my opinion, it's vile to profit off of making jokes about real murders, usually involving child victims. But most people think I'm being too sensitive, even though many family members and survivors have expressed the same thing.

LoveBubble i regularly get attacked for comments concerning the need for better income assistance programs for disabled people, and i can tell you most people are simply not as good as they like to think. After all, anyone who resents a disabled person simply for being disabled and requiring an income, and these same people are apparently quite happy seeing disabled people slowly die of starvation or exposure, by definition cannot be good. People are, generally speaking, selfish, callous and careless of the suffering or needs of others.

I dont know which true crime channels you watch, but all the ones I watch seem very compassionate and like they got involved in this specifically to inform people and prevent these problems later.

Very scary considering the fact that I met jarred when I was a child at a mall in Ohio for his subway visits and I was in the restroom peeing after my family had ate and he had gone in the restroom just as I was finishing up and walking out.. I had to have been about 11 or 12 and I thought at the time it was cool to have met a celebrity and now I'm just so creeped out after looking back on this experience...
Jared actually came to my middle school in Alaska when I was in 7th grade.. I was an office assistant and it was my job to give him a student tour of the school. He was such a "hero" to me (they do say never meet your heroes..) as I was overweight as a child but he looked at me with utter disgust, wouldn't make eye contact or talk to me, and only paid attention to the pretty, fit popular girls.. I had to talk to him throughout the tour of our school and he would not look at me or make eye contact with me during that entire time either. When he did want to communicate with me? He would communicate with me through what I assume was his publicist? Or something. I distinctly recall feeling total shame and that I was so big that even Jared was disgusted by me. I wholeheartedly felt that my weight situation was completely hopeless after that encounter.. I remember thinking too that it was really creepy how he was looking the popular girls.. He was looking at them how boys in my grade looked at them.. Also, I remember thinking of how much of a stuck up, pretentious prick he was & how I felt that Jared thought he was better than everyone else. He also had a LOT of power by being a "celebrity" coming to a predominantly rural state and a very tiny town (considering the average towns in the United States). So when the charges came out over a decade later? I was not necessarily surprised.. To say the least...

I too was a little heavy when I was in high school but found out 30 yrs later I had a thyroid problem. I was also shy with older sisters that picked on me which didn’t helped. It’s too bad you didn’t stand up to him and make him feel foolish. Jared had it all and he blowed it big time. He’s a perv.

I beat my head against the wall of bureaucracy when trying to report my ex husband when I left the abusive relationship because he was actively pursuing a sexual relationship with a 15 year old foster kid. He was 32 at the time and knew it was illegal and didn't care. I took text messages, emails, photos of them kissing, everything I could find to protect this girl and literally got told there was nothing they would do. I even sat down with her case worker at cps and reported it! They said that the only thing they could do was lock up the 15 year old in juvie until she was an adult if he continued to have contact with her. It made me so sick. As far as I know, he wasn't able to actually go through with her plans. I did get her moved to a different foster family and they did monitor her online activity. A little over a year after I left, my ex died. So he is not a danger to anyone anymore. But damn did I get so freaking mad at the system.

The widow contacted me and said they had a big argument about the 15 year old girl he was obsessed with and she threatened to turn him in. He was found later that night. She reached out to make sure he hadn't done anything with the girl. I contacted her caseworker and had her put in therapy after his passing. It happened over 9 years ago. I am sad that he left behind 4 beautiful children that will never really know him, but also really glad that they will never know what a piece of crap he was. I do not miss him at all.
As a survivor of childhood sexual assault perpetrated by a neighbor, my paternal uncle, my dad's close friend, the father of a very dear friend AND my half brother who moved in with us at age 15. Yes, there are many, many sickos out there. The penalty should be VERY SEVERE because of its lifelong effect on us. These acts occurred at ages 5, 7, 8, 9 and 11. That appears to be a congressional hearing in the commercial, not a criminal trial. Hearings can lead to criminal charges, but it seems that the premise of the commercial is that congress is only investigating the (justifiably unbelievable) claim of Subway causing Fogle's weight loss.

I’ve worked with SO in prison as a counselor (why I quit in the end). A lot of clinical therapy for SO is very sanitized language to not be direct about the abuse they cause. It’s watered down to “your behavior”. So I’m not surprised he referred to it in a watered down way.

I don't know what they could have done, I think they could have done more, like starting an investigation to get the proof they needed to arrest him (like the FBI did), but I fully understand why he can't get arrested outright on just this statement. It sucks, but that is just the way it works. There are people that lie about doing crime frequently, even against the police and it sends cops on a wild goose-hunt, which takes resources away from crimes that are actually happening and require investigation.
A confession is rarely enough to prosecute a suspect successfully. They can always say they felt pressured to confess or take their statement back. It’s preferable to have a solid case that the jury HAS to convict on to avoid them voting not guilty and the suspect being set free due to lack of evidence. Which requires a good amount of solid evidence.

As a former prosecutor, I just wanted to confirm - you can get a warrant based on recordings. And, even if the FBI was concerned with the credibility of Rochelle’s evidence, it’s definitely enough to start an investigation.
Hell, all the FBI needed do was conduct a recorded phone call of their own - and, if he told Rochelle that he had child pornography on his computer and/or phone, they could have easily gotten a search warrant for the devices.
This case reminds me of the Epstein case. According to the current charges, Epstein trafficked minors to … no one. It’s been years, and they even caught Ghislaine Maxwell (who procured the girls), but they haven’t charged a single perpetrator who visited the island.

I will never forget meeting him. He came to my school when I was in 5th grade. The speech he gave was fine, didn't seem anything out of the ordinary. I was being sexually abused by family members at the time, so the idea of having physical contact with a man i did not know was horrifying to me. I tried to tell my teacher this, but she did not listen. I got to him and said "I don't really like to be touched." He said, "oh please! Im not scary, I won't hurt you!" And pulled me in for a tight hug before I could say anything else. I was literally shaking. I was visibly disturbed, he just laughed and said I would be fine. When all this came out, I knew that he had to touch all of us as some kind of sick self gratification. It still freaks me out to this day

what really strikes me about this case is the unwillingness of police to actually do anything. Remember, one of Jeffrey Dahmer's victims escaped naked into the streets, found cops and the cops returned the victim to Dahmer, who claimed it was a "lover's spat". The victim of course was murdered shortly thereafter. Or more recently, you have Uvalde's police refusing to take on a shooter murdering school children because they didn't want to get shot. If the police aren't willing to actually protect children, exactly what purpose are they serving in our communities? I do understand that there needs to be probable cause and all that, but they seem to find very flimsy 'probably cause" in traffic stops where they want to harass someone over weed.
The sad part about the law is that it can't do much without physical evidence. Lots of crimes continue to happen even though people report them bc the police need physical evidence. Otherwise the police would have to check every claim made to them, even false ones and trolls.

Because the right way to catch pedophiles is running sting operations that produce evidence that will convince a jury in a court of law. Infiltrating a porn ring that is distributing actual pornography, for example. A guy bragging that he went to Thailand and had tons of sex isn't very strong evidence. Some people just get off on making up shit that never happened. You can not get a conviction by going into a chatroom and baiting guys into talking about weird depraved fantasies they have. Even on To Catch a Predator, they had to have the suspects actually show up to the house to stand a chance of a conviction. You wouldn't want those laws changed to make it so that anything you say online is potential grounds for a search warrant.

One of his friends had a weapon... it had never been discharged..... I'm APPALLED that this man who has victimized so many children and was perpetuating their constant SA abuse by having CP and documenting his own crimes ONLY GOT 15 YEARS!!!! I'm a court employee and I have to read affidavits and review evidence for animal abuse, child abuse, sexual assault, murder and assault cases. I also speak with victims and the families of victims and review their impact statements. I've also had multiple friends be murdered. I think the people who do their makeup and make light of the crimes have a tendency to be disrespectful to the survivors and victims without even noticing.
In my opinion, it's vile to profit off of making jokes about real murders, usually involving child victims. But most people think I'm being too sensitive, even though many family members and survivors have expressed the same thing.

Jared actually came to my middle school in Alaska when I was in 7th grade.. I was an office assistant and it was my job to give him a student tour of the school. He was such a "hero" to me (they do say never meet your heroes..) as I was overweight as a child but he looked at me with utter disgust, wouldn't make eye contact or talk to me, and only paid attention to the pretty, fit popular girls.. I had to talk to him throughout the tour of our school and he would not look at me or make eye contact with me during that entire time either. When he did want to communicate with me? He would communicate with me through what I assume was his publicist? Or something. I distinctly recall feeling total shame and that I was so big that even Jared was disgusted by me. I wholeheartedly felt that my weight situation was completely hopeless after that encounter.. I remember thinking too that it was really creepy how he was looking the popular girls.. He was looking at them how boys in my grade looked at them.. Also, I remember thinking of how much of a stuck up, pretentious prick he was & how I felt that Jared thought he was better than everyone else. This guy HAD IT MADE. He was getting paid something like $1.2 million a year by Subway and all he had to do was go on vacation, all over the world, a dozen times a year, all expenses paid, and talk good about Subway. And he goes and does this disgusting stuff.
That's exactly what went through his head the day he was arrested.
Having a good life and being a sexual predator aren’t exclusive concepts.

I beat my head against the wall of bureaucracy when trying to report my ex husband when I left the abusive relationship because he was actively pursuing a sexual relationship with a 15 year old foster kid. He was 32 at the time and knew it was illegal and didn't care. I took text messages, emails, photos of them kissing, everything I could find to protect this girl and literally got told there was nothing they would do. I even sat down with her case worker at cps and reported it! They said that the only thing they could do was lock up the 15 year old in juvie until she was an adult if he continued to have contact with her. It made me so sick.
As far as I know, he wasn't able to actually go through with her plans. I did get her moved to a different foster family and they did monitor her online activity. A little over a year after I left, my ex died. So he is not a danger to anyone anymore. But damn did I get so freaking mad at the system.

@@Deafleopard he passed at his own hand. We hadn't spoken in a year since our divorce. I know he got remarried to a woman closer to his age. The widow contacted me and said they had a big argument about the 15 year old girl he was obsessed with and she threatened to turn him in. He was found later that night. She reached out to make sure he hadn't done anything with the girl. I contacted her caseworker and had her put in therapy after his passing. It happened over 9 years ago. I am sad that he left behind 4 beautiful children that will never really know him, but also really glad that they will never know what a piece of crap he was. I do not miss him at all.

As a survivor of childhood sexual assault perpetrated by a neighbor, my paternal uncle, my dad's close friend, the father of a very dear friend AND my half brother who moved in with us at age 15. Yes, there are many, many sickos out there. The penalty should be VERY SEVERE because of its lifelong effect on us. These acts occurred at ages 5, 7, 8, 9 and 11. I am 59 now and there hasn't been a week in my entire life that I was not haunted by this. EVIL!!!

That appears to be a congressional hearing in the commercial, not a criminal trial. Hearings can lead to criminal charges, but it seems that the premise of the commercial is that congress is only investigating the (justifiably unbelievable) claim of Subway causing Fogle's weight loss.
There are many eye-opening revelations in this story. But 15 cans of soda a day is mind boggling..

I met Jared at the Riverwalk Mall here in New Orleans when I was a child because my mom wanted to meet him. He was so fixated on asking me questions:

the fbi is always ignoring these cases and usually involved. that’s the disturbing part. the man and woman that made videos of me and other kids are free after only a handful of years. and it still destroys me 20 years later. I hate our justice system.

The suspicion is there, they are the ones that should’ve tried to find evidence idk set up a sting operation or something. There is a genetic reason for this behavior that goes back thousands maybe millions of years. There is a large percentage of the population that is affected by these genetics unfortunately. There no know accepted treatment yet.
