On a recent rewatch of this episode, I think I found the biggest untruth every uttered by man, and it was just the second Prepare to Try episode the boys ever made together. Rory Powers: "I'm aware of my surroundings. I have situational awareness." Part of what makes Rory so unique, and a big part of the entertainment value of these playthroughs all the up to present day 2024, is that Rory probably has worse situational awareness than anyone I've ever seen play a game. I can't count the number of times an enemy has plonked down right in front of him, and he just keeps doing his own thing to then be all surprised when he gets hit. It's a great joy of mine.
this is the only IGN series ive ever enjoyed. you three are fucking gems and are great together. this is like the 30th time ive rewatched this series in the past almost decade. i hope you all are praising the sun and living the best lives 💕

Their dynamic was so different then. It’s clear their friendship developed tremendously over the years. Love seeing them grow closer while we all bare witness to Rory’s learning...difficulties
Oh man. This is a unique and wonderful let's play. Watching this sweet summer child become a chosen undead is glorious. Watching him run from the skeletons INTO the catacombs, and then watching him roll off the cliff. I'm enjoying this muchly.
Just got done watching season 2 time to re-watch season 1, I hope Gav, Dan and Rory get to do a third season they're like the Hammond, May and Clarkson of lets plays
I love this game so much. It's a masterpiece. Gameplay, deep themes, the symbolism, the difficulty and the rewarding feeling of defeating bosses and finding and acquiring loot

Man, the part when he got owned by the ghost brings back memories. I died in the exact same place in my first playthrough because I didn't know that I couldn't deal any damage to them at that point in the game. I did run past them and grab the Fire Keeper Soul though. :-)
With how difficult this game is, I wouldn't be able to stand there and help someone like this guy along the way. I'm a patient person but when you do the exact same thing over and over and failing when someone is telling you how/what to do...

The part that would eat away at me is his not listening to advice thinking he has a better idea, blaming the others for his mistakes which he does multiple times, not learning from those mistakes, getting angry at the monsters for drinking estus leading to massive fails and this false sense of hubris after killing 2 zombies going "Lawl this game is easy I am the best to ever play this roflcopter" attitude. Just a basic tip in case anybody didn't know it, the best time to estus in the Taurus Demon fight is the moment you reach the top of the ladder. If you don't fart about and you get it in fast then there's plenty of time to heal, then turn to do the plunging attack.
On my first try facing the Taurus Demon, all was going well and he was down to his last sliver of health when i got stuck between him and the part of the rampart that's broken so that when i tried to roll past him i fell from the bridge, but he also fell after me which triggered the "Vanquished" text and when i retread my steps to the boss area he was indeed dead and the fog door was unlocked.
Lol, this is hilarious, because my friends see my dark souls videos on youtube, and say the game looks easy, if they played the game they would probably be like this Rory guy, playing dark souls thinking hes playing god of war or zelda. Somethings in dark souls CAN become easy, after a HUGE learning curve, when i started the game i was constatly obliterated, but was a learning experience

I almost go insane in dark souls 3 first glance of the game you are like this will be easy but not long until you find out you are terrible at the game
I hope they tell him at some point just how CLOSE he came to finding the Zweihander at the very beginning. He would have had the perfect endgame tank weapon right from the start...
ah firelink, so many fond memories of me bashing my head against a wall there going the wrong way, pretty sure I smashed against the graveyard a while before deciding to eventually go down the elevator because the hollows there were so weak it had to be the right way to the lower bell. man I love dark souls.
