I wanted to wait until the 2019 model came out but my old beater decided to die early, so I bought a 2018 Forte EX last February. It’s September now and I haven’t had a single issue. Kia is a great company, and their cars are actually fun and zippy. This is coming from a life long Toyota guy.
I have a 2006 Kia Spectra. It has 206, 000 thousand miles on it. It still going strong. Stay away from their turbo. My neighbor has a Kia Optima 2016 the turbo went out at 30,000 miles.
Do you enjoy your Kia still? I just bought a 2020 Kia Forte (pick it up next week!) after driving my 04’ Toyota for years.. reliable but time for an upgrade! Nervous for the change though.
@@arianam.9983 I drove a Tercel for years, then a Corolla, and never had any issues with them other than they were boring, and I had to pay extra for a clock. I love my Kia Forte, even after 2 years. Back up camera, heating seats and steering, sat radio, 6 speed auto with drive select (eco, normal, sport) that changes the shift points. The car doesnt get great gas mileage if you are just tooling around town. I average around 11L/100km but on a road trip i've gotten the fuel numbers down to 5.1L/100km. The car looks great, handles well for an economy car, and I couldnt be happier. My only regret is not getting a standard, because I just love going through the gears. Sorry if this is a long post, but its a great car. Just change the oil every 5000km and get it undercoated. Enjoy!
JJ Stuart on Writing thank you so much for getting back to me! Yes my Toyota did not have a clock either lol, always found that weird. Going to be a weird luxury to have one haha. Also finally getting some AC and cruise control which is a huge upgrade!! I’m glad you still enjoy it, that’s nice to hear. I’m sure I won’t be getting the same mileage as my tiny hatchback but I’m hopeful it won’t be too bad! Do you just do the standard 87 octane? Or would you recommend using higher being that it’s a new car? (Only used to driving a beater and not caring lol) sorry if that’s a silly question
My friend has a Kia Forte , I have a Hyundai Sonata limited . I love my car but I also love that Kia Forte that my friend has . Both cars are great and your presentation is excellent
Yes, you are definitely doing an amazing job for us with these videos and they serve as a great training for all of us KIA salesmen too!! Please continue to do these videos, for they are extremely informative and very well presented :]
I bought a 2004 Elantra for $12,500 with a 2K rebate, and still have it. It's been a very good trouble free car. I'd consider the 2019 Forte with a 3K rebate or 16K total price.
I think a lot of people would consider that... the likelihood of it happening are pretty slim though. This car was a finalist for Canadian Car of the year, losing to the Kia Stinger and a high end Volvo. It's not going to need those types of discounts to sell, it's already a tremendous value in the new car segment.
Great video. Unfortunately I'm in Ottawa but I'm interested in the Forte LX manual. It's too bad there's no manual transmission available in higher trims. I get the market though, not as much demand. Too bad. Looking forward to seeing you drive the manual on one of the posts.
Thanks for your kind words. We're going to start doing test drive videos soon. Subscribe to be the first to see them. I think 2020 Soul will be up first, but we'll get to the Forte soon, and if we have a manual transmission model in stock, I'll be sure to review that too.
Hi, just collected the car last weekend. Well, like i said, its a funtastic car. Im taking a get to know session with the car. However, the thought of not getting the paddle shifters is making me having to research more. Probably there is a retrofit paddle shifters somewhere.
@@BrantfordKia Awesome! Thanks so much! My last 2 brand-new cars were Mazdas (1997 Protégé & a 2009 Mazda 3)...both had chains & both got well over 200k miles w/o changing it or having to do any other major work. I can afford higher end cars...but I like cheap ones (under $20k) & Mazda has priced me out. So, my next new car will be a KIA Forte!
@@rickferr1546 I’ve now had it for just over 2 years. The only thing that I have ever had done has been oil changes and tire changes twice a year (summer tires & winter tires). It’s a fantastic car.
Hey. I have a 2019 launch edition What are the vent against the back rear window? Therea on on either side. I thought ac. Maybe I cant get them to work
I believe those vents are just there to release some of the hot air from the trunk into the cabin. They may also be there to vent the trunk to aid in closing it. Sometimes when you close a trunk, the air has to go somewhere, and having a little extra space to vent it can help the trunk close and latch fully with normal effort.
Awesome!! I have a few questions/observations as a 2017 Forte owner looking to upgrade in 2019-2020 and who has been studying this car since it came out: 1. I noticed the power folding mirrors with integrated puddle lamps are no more. Not even EX Limited? 2. On the website, it says that dual zone climate control is only available on the EX Premium and up, which is obviously not the case. 3. It says that the EX Premium has interior ambient lighting (and LED interior lights). Could you please feature those when you get this trim? 4. Is it true that only the EX Premium and Limited get UVO services with the phone app and keyless entry/start? How come the Rio gets it on the "base" EX? Also, would it be worth the upgrade from the EX+ just so I can get UVO services, i.e. is the system laggy and unreliable? 5. What is the difference between the "perfected AEB" on the EX Premium and up vs the standard AEB? 6. Does the adaptive cruise control work in bumper to bumper traffic? I've heard that the US models only work at speed above 20 MPH (32kmh) which is kind of disappointing since other manufacturer's system work in traffic. Thanks again for this video!
Wow... Lots of questions. That's great. I'll address what I can for you now, and some will have to be answered in future videos. First of all, you're correct that the Forte appears to not have folding mirrors now. Second, although the Kia Canada website says that the Dual Zone climate control does not come in the EX model (EX premium is where the website shows it) our EX did show up like this. Perhaps Kia made a running change, or perhaps we have a unique vehicle. We'll keep you updated in future videos. Finally, the UVO Intelligence system is actually an upgraded version on the 2019 Forte. In this car it runs on a 4G network, and in the previous vehicles it ran on a 3G network. That means that the response time is significantly improved on this model. Finally, asking me if it is worth it for you to upgrade to a particular trim or not is tough for me to answer. If you need to have all the latest tech, then absolutely, but that's a decision that can only be made by you. I encourage you to drive the car and decide for yourself! Thanks for the comment!
Thank you for answering all these questions, I really appreciate your work! Wish my dealer's employees were as devoted, helpful and passionate as you are lol
Also you're right, the base LX Manual is a tremendous value. I have the 2017 LX manual for pretty much the same price as the new one. Thing is, it doesn't have AC, heated seats, heated leather steering wheel, 8inch screen with Carplay/Android Auto, backup camera or even remote control with the keys (I have to manually lock and unlock the car lol). I've heard the new model rides better than expected, even though it has a torsion beam rear suspension. I really hope the Forte5 SX Turbo (hopefully my next car) will get independent rear suspension since Montreal's roads are atrocious and I bounce up and down and all over the place with my car. It's almost dangerous and very unsettling in bumpy curved roads...
Your dealer can't afford me. ;) We did check our EX and EX+ models that we have in stock, and each of those had dual zone climate control. So we'll keep an eye on things and see if this feature was just part of an early production run, or if these cars continue to come with this feature. Stay tuned!
In the States, all trim levels come with dual-zone climate control, a feature unheard of on other brands. That and the standard 8" screen impress me, but the distance-pacing cruise control cutting out at 20 MPH kinda doesn't. I do like the rear seat a/c vents; leaving those off is a hallmark of cost-cutting for me.

It's not by special order only... although at our dealership we rarely stock manuals. On occasion we'll have one or two in stock, but we can usually get one fairly quickly if you wanted one and it wasn't in stock.

Interested in how much room in the back, trunk space, how smoothly it accelerates, absorbing bumps etc.
Trunk space is best in class. Rear seat room is very good. Check out our youtube page for more videos on this car that cover some of your questions.
