    It just makes you feel good to watch Jay Leno, especially in this one where he features Franco Barbuscia and his family, who are some of the greatest mechanics in the world, especially with Lamborghinis. Jay is passionate and deeply knowledgeable about cars and his enthusiasm comes through all of his videos, which just make them a joy to watch.

    I find it hard to believe some people actually disliked this video! The Countach and Diablo were poster Lambo's in my generation and this car is just SO gorgeous! That Alpine CD player was from the 2000's, not as "classic" as the car, but still cool they kept it Alpine. Great video, Jay, just let me know if you need another driver to help you test out these cars... ha ha

    • @flyingphoenix113
      @flyingphoenix113 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      You haven't really addressed the point that I made Shaun. I never said that the current crop of Lamborghini's aren't great cars. When Richard Hammond described the new Huracan in relation to the past Lamborghinis he's reviewed, he said, "As a car, this Huracan is probably better than all of those other Lamborghinis. But, those cars are better Lamborghinis." And that is precisely my point. Great car or not, the latest crop of Lambos have strayed a long way from the original philosophy that Ferruccio had when he gave up tractor production in favor of cars. And, that is why I regard Lamborghini as having effectively died with the Diablo. We are, philosophically speaking, dealing with a completely different company today.

    • @blazermdx
      @blazermdx 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Philosophically speaking, all auto manufacturers are completely different companies than they were 60 years ago. In fact, most manufacturers are completely different companies than they were 60 years ago. It's called progress, I'm most instances.

    • @flyingphoenix113
      @flyingphoenix113 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      "It's called progress, I'm most instances." In most instances, yes. And, for the most part, progress and evolution improves the breed. I'm still not a fan of the 991 911's steering as opposed to the 997, nor am I a fan of the direct injection, but I cannot deny that it is an incredible car to drive. Having driven both modern and classic Lamborghinis though, it's a different story. The reason the 911 and corvette are the Rolexes of the sports car worlds is that they possess consistency between generations. Do they make changes? Of course. The G-forces are higher. The styling has changed. The numbers are bigger (in everything from horsepower to MPG), but the cars still feel fundamentally similar between generations. New Lamborghinis, with the exception of the 550-2 Gallardo (and possibly the 580-2 Huracan. IDK because I haven't driven it yet), all feel completely alien compared to the Miura, Countach, and Diablo. The three cars I just named, the "real" Lamborghinis, if you will, also feel completely different. They are only united by their V12 and the incredible sense of alienation. Driving them is unlike anything else. Even the Aventador is as easy to drive as a VW golf once you get used to the turning radius and size. You have to be absolutely thrashing a modern Lambo to make it feel special (particularly with DCT cars like the Huracan), and that is why these cars are not deserving of the Lamborghini badge. EVERY moment in a Miura feels special. Same goes for the other two. That reference to emotion may seem silly, but supercars, PARTICULARLY Lamborghinis, are emotional purposes. Want a car for its performance numbers? Go buy a Camaro ZL1, Hellcat, or a GTR.

    I've always preferred the simpler, smooth, rounded look of the Diablo over the current Aventador. The Diablo is timeless. That's why a Diablo from the early 1990s still looks modern. The Aventador, with it's creases and angles might look nice today but may look dated in a few years.

    The Diablo was the last of the really memorable Lamborghinis and the only one that actually has performance merit before Audi took over.
