I have an idea for a hidden vehicle kill switch using a reed switch and a relay for the starter solenoid but am a complete novice regarding electrical engineering.
Basically glue a reed switch behind an interior panel that breaks the normal circuit from the ignition switch to the starter, requiring not only the key, knowledge of the kill switch location and a magnet
Naturally it’s not completely theft proof, but it adds a significant level of complexity and time to the process
Seems like a cool idea too, not sure how to fully accomplish the task though, your videos do help with my understanding of how everything works though.

This is the closest I've found on how to create (simply) a light that turns on when the magnets come apart. I wonder if this would work if the power supply was a battery pack? I am creating a little treasure chest that when opened, the light turns on, and when the lid is closed, the light goes out. It has to be portable, hence the battery pack.

The reed switches you use have a current rating of 0.5A. Most light strips draw more than that, so this is not safe. It's okay with the demonstration setup, but people may make false generalizations.

It is confusing. But he does indeed have the circuit wired through the NC path on the switch if you zoom in. I guess for reed/ magnet switches the normal mode behavior is defined as what the switch state is when the magnet is NOT acting on the sensor. In other words: the normal mode is when the switch is “inactive”, or the magnet is apart from the sensor. When you think of it that way, then it makes sense.
