Good job, Ludic! I have tried the first design with the magnet and I have noticed that the reed magnet was attracted to much by the passing one, and the design became a little chaotic, so I let it go. But, the second design is a master piece and I replicated it last night, it is working like a factory designed reed switch. Thank you very much for sharing.

a push instead ofa pull mechanism, I can use that idea for my 19th century style steam punk motor

from advanced to non advanced. I learned circuitry in reverse of these few posts.
i once used a straw and a spring made from a lighter and paper clip.

If you put another cooper plate on top and wire 180 deg the switch will work with both magnetic polarities.

So glad I found this video! I think I found how I'm going to use this to make a switch on a box so that when it opens, the lights come on automatically. I am guessing that the power supply can be a battery pack? Thanks so much!

I am new to electronics. However i am working on a simple and primitive transistor. There is a video of one from general electric on youtube. But i suspect one can be made even more simpler, but i honestly could be wrong.

hmmm, this is someting like taster whit magnet very clever, if i rotate a two magnets on rod close to this reed switch I will get digital oscillating signals.

Thats not a reed switch. Thats a actuator. Reeds are flat and flexible. Also the tubes filled with nitrogen to prevent arcing

REED switch stays closed once electricity flows. Your does not. So you created a Hall sensor at best.

This is NOT a reed switch. It is a magnetically activated switch, yes. A reed switch has ferromagnetic reeds that become magnetized and attracted to each other in the presence of a magnetic field. There is no actual magnet in a reed switch. Just because this is activated by a magnet does not make it a magnetic reed switch. Someone needs to do some research.
