Hey Chris! Thank you so much for the Tag and offer haha! I'll talk this through with Mikkie and See if we can do something.
Generally a Dutch survival kit has a few sandwiches in it and a thermos with warm coffee to make sure you can make it to the next telephone which is probably around 100 meters away haha. However, we could try something like a holiday survival kit or a SHTF survival kit who knows.
    Anyway! we appreciate the tag!
    Enjoy spring!

Make a real SHTF box... A serious attempt at it please, we'd all be F.ed here anyways in SHTF but just still it's interesting for Dutch / EU viewers. :)

just a tip for anyone doing this:
no matter how many times you wrap up and seal them-
don't put esbit cubes in as a source of fuel/heat...
the chemicals will leach out no matter what and contaminate most things (food, water bags, water filter smell) inside the container.
learned this the hard way when i build a ammo can kits to test out for my work vans ;)

Thin merino/silk bob hat, glove liners, long johns, neck scarf thingy hardly take up any room, alll together tennis ball size. Total life saver, insulate the more susceptible areas

the soap is such a good idea and always forgotten, it really makes a huge difference to morale getting yourself clean, even wet wipes can work wonders in just your everyday life let alone in a survival situation.

Nice video. Well thought out for 30 minutes. Emberlit stove is a win! Garbage bag, shemagh, multi-tool might be good additions without adding much size/weight.

I intend to do the same, but in the Peak District National Park ( I am in the UK) as the foothills of the Pennine Hill range, which the Peak District National Park is part of, starts 200 feet away from my house. The National Park would be part of my "Bug Out " route, over the Hills and valleys, avoiding any roads, but they are scarce as I feel the "townies" wouldn't last long up there, once out of their comfort zone of roads and buildings, where vehicle traffic is impossible because of the terrain and that it is largely peat on the top surface, so won't take the weight of a vehicle, it is barren open windswept moorland in most places and woodland in others, unless you know what you doing and know how to survive in that sort of environment, you won't last very long if SHTF, so I can put some distance between me and them if needed or watch them from afar with a spotting scope and they would never see me.

I'd include a tarp that doubles up as a stretcher -- like UK basha tarps. Excellent bit of survival kit. Medical a bit lacking
Bear Grills dirt hygiene lol. Hope no one takes advice from Bear Grills who's production team have anti-biotics standing by in case he gets an infection from eating raw snake, etc

  • @CDShap
    @CDShap 6 ปีที่แล้ว

I might build one of these for fun. Off the bat I can think of a few things I would do differently. I would not include items I do not know how to use, like the lock picks. I might get one of those mirrors they sell to put inside lockers and attach it to the inside of the lid. I would limit myself budget wise, so cheaper knives would go into mine. Morakniv is my first thought for the inside. I remember the Camp10 being reasonable, so I might stick one of those on the outside. It is noteworthy that I would be purchasing items to fill my box because I don’t have the stuff laying around like you do, so I would not place a time limit on myself. I think I would use this as an excuse to buy a wowtac A2s (that is the headlamp right?) I would also try to fit in a folding saw and some eye protection.

You know this actually kind of helps me out a bit. I've been wanting to do an ammo can survival kit to throw in the back of my Jeep. And this website Quadratec cell a little shelf that attaches to the tailgate of a Jeep Wrangler and you can get it without a can, with a 50 cal can, or with a 40mm can. I was thinking about getting the one with the 40mm can obviously locking it and bolting it down but golden kind of a super ammo can kit to put in my Jeep. Thank you for the idea Chris.

G'day Chris, I've been carrying an old metal ammo tin in my vehicle/s for a long time. After your first ammo box vid I added a plastic box. The metal one stays with the vehicle (if I have to stay with the vehicle). The lighter plastic box is meant to carry with me if forced to bug out from the Jeep. Nearly everybody who preps would have a spare shoulder strap from an old pack or bag somewhere so I've adapted one to take the plastic ammo box. I can't wear a backpack anymore so I made myself a chest rig & gear belt. So now if I have to, I can wear all my body gear and throw the ammo box over the shoulder. Yes, it isn't comfortable but I've tried it out and I can carry the ammo box a lot longer than using the carry handle and it leaves both my hands free. If I need to I can use a hiking stick (spear shaft etc.). You're right; this is an excellent 'mind experiment'. Cheers, BH

Excellent stuff. You have just given me an idea. I would have a problem taking a large container for stashing for spare kit and other essentials (spare tarp, cooker, water filtration kit, etc) should SHTF to bury in the local hills, away from the footpaths, so up in the treeline. I am thinking a couple of large plastic tool boxes inside a garbage bin liner or similar to keep the bugs off and will not rust if buried. The Ammo Box/tool box works for me as we have a local Game Warden, who lives at one of the local farms, but patrols the whole area looking for poachers (he looks after the local wildlife, etc) and carrying a 5 gallon bucket or similar into the hills would be noticeable, so an ammo box/ tool box in a large rucksack is good and not as noticeable by the Game Warden and gradually fill them up as I go walking on the hillsides with my dog..so very discrete as no one takes any notice of a guy and his dog mooching in the woods.

Multi vits, multi mins. 20 Marlborough you'll deserve it. Use good poncho (multi use) instead, bag over feet if too short.
What's happeni g in Syria Chris? Also noticed you don't like shizzy weather, too bad thete planet is going into a gsm, mini/major ice age fast, next few winters maybe more, major food shortages predicted ect. . Look it up for yourselves. Peace. Love to all.
