I love Sayid
The Lost writers love a literary reference: Henry Gale is the name of Dorothy Gale’s uncle in The Wizard of Oz.
Poor Henry. He crashes in a balloon on the weirdest island in the world, his wife dies, he is captured by a crazy French woman, he gets an arrow in the shoulder and he ends up locked in a cramped room with an Iraqi torturer who is looking for someone responsible for the death of the woman he loved. Some people are unlucky. Or he met Hurley before. 🤣🤣
The tree frog was a sacrifice that the island demanded. 😁
Top tier character: Henry Hale from Minnesota
Killing that frog, and killing it in this manner especially, is the worst Sawyer has done so far imo. That's low.
"My name is Sayid Jarrah and I am a torturer". This phrase gives me shivers. I would be so scared.
One of my favorite episodes. I've seen this show so many times that I can recite the lines of dialogue before Sayid does.
Amazing acting by everyone.
Yes, he's here, but I'm going to talk about something that gets overlooked a lot in this episode. After Charlie's bad behavior recently, Sayid is the only one in the camp to treat Charlie like a human being. In fact, in the whole history of the show, Sayid is the only one that consistently treats Charlie with respect and takes him seriously (whereas Hurley is more of his buddy). Sayid understands Charlie suffered through a trauma. When Charlie slugged Sayid, Sayid didn't strike him back, he simply grabbed him and very calmly said "you will not hit me again." That final line -- "Tell me Charlie, have YOU forgotten?" is one of my favorites. And I think this bit of Sayid treating Charlie like a real person helps to begin rehabilitating him as a character following his baptism panic attack.
But yeah, he's here too. That train rumbles on.

Sayid, you sassy man, it was a valid question.

Sayid is such a great character. It is incredibly difficult to pick a favorite. This show was stacked.
I loved every time Danielle would show up because I knew some cooked shit was about to happen

Reminder, when Rouseau first met Sayid she was certain he was an Other and tortured him because of it so I wouldn't say she has the best track history of judging who is and isn't an Other.

So now we see why the writers needed to have the armory cleared out in the previous episode.
Henry Gale! This next run of episodes are some of my favorite in the series.
The actor who plays Henry is the great Michael Emmerson!
This Henry is such a nerdy looking fella. I like nerds.
Michael Emerson (Henry Gale) was in Saw, but i’ll always remember him from an episode of X-Files where he had some magical telekinetic abilities, and turned his house into the Brady Bunch house 😂

Henry didn't slip up and ask 'Did you lose someone to...", he was asking "Did you lose someone too?" as if to say, "Did you lose someone as well?".

Michael Emerson is here! Wonderful actor. The other guy you recognized in the Sayid flashback is Clancy Brown, who's been around the block a few times as a character actor.

Fun Fact, the guy you said "Sounded like you've heard him in a Game or Animated TV Show Before" is Clancy Brown. AKA MR KRABS. So yes you have heard him before. He also voices Damien in Invincible, Hank from Detroit Become Human, Hades in God of War 3, Lex Luther in most DC Media, and my personal Favorite, he was the original Voice for Dr. Neo Cortex and Uka Uka from the Crash Bandicoot Series for all the PS1 Games.

I love your theories and I love that you love Sayid, he is absolutely one of my favorites. He seems to be a Mary Sue character but he really isn't. His character is amazing. Also Sawyer's.
Truly, a pivotal moment. Season 2 is so good! It is real...television history.

I was more upset for that tree frog’s death than I was for a lot of the character’s deaths…
Because we've seen characters do good things and bad things. But that frog did nothing wrong, even the boar that peed Sawyer's shirt got spared.

Also: that moment when the countdown hit zero and the red and black hieroglyphics appeared, I shit in my pants!! That was soooo intense!!!

I love Danielle - she means business every time. "Don't believe anything he says." On another note "Sayid and Danielle, sitting in s a tree, K-I-S-S-S-I-N-G. She's just really lonely. Henry is one of my favorite characters on LOST. Poor Sayid. We hardly seem him break in the entire series. He breaks after torturing Sawyer, then he walks off, finds the cable and is captured by Danielle. He breaks here with Henry - I think it was the first reaction to losing Shannon. He broke after Nadia. Locke questions Jack. Jack searches for a plan. Season 1 if all about the people and what is inside the hatch and are we alone. Season 2 - the world is getting bigger but it's all about "The Button". So good! We're off to the races!

He was also the voice of Mr. Crabs in SpongeBob SquarePants. Clancy Brown has been around forever. Amazing actor. Personally not a fan of his politics, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying his work. Very talented!
When Henry kept trying to divert the conversation or even rambling on talking thats what convinced me he was an Other. The symbols you saw on the hatch count down are all Egyptian symbols. Something worth reading into Ellie.

Hope you’re a bit ahead on episodes bc the comment section feels a little spoilery. Yea that’s Clancy Brown who plays Ryder on Rebels/Ahsoka and is in/voices tons of other things and Henry is played by Michael Emerson who besides Saw was in a couple of great shows called Person of Interest and Evil.

So, just FYI. There is a finite number of actors in the world. They all play multiple roles. When you see an actor you recognize, it is neither "crazy" nor worth mentioning. One of the problems with making a big deal of it is that you typecast them in your own head and draw conclusions about characters based on things they did in other movies and TV shows. They're unrelated. Other reactors go so far as to refer to characters by the actor's name in other movies. If your viewers haven't seen those movies, they don't know what you're talking about. That's generally true when a reactor brings any other movie, song, athlete, etc. references to a reaction. That being said, I'm loving your reactions to LOST and am also working through Breaking Bad with you.
Creating expectations or saying "I've been waiting for this one" etc, is spoilery. Can't someone just post facts from the time or how they felt with the episode? Sheesh.
I do agree with you but you also have to keep in mind that Elie is many episodes ahead of the ones he uploads.

It is absolutely staggering how many people can't understand this. Did anyone say "ZOMGGGG Dr. Artz is my favorite!!!" after he made his first appearance? No, because he lasted 3 episodes. Saying all this stuff about Henry Gale completely gives away the fact that he ends up being a bigger piece of the puzzle. The same thing happened with Desmond's first appearance

They'll never stop. I've tried pointing this type of spoiling out since reaction channels began. People just don't care. We'll see it again when season 3 begins too.
Agreed. So many people are making comments that could and should be considered spoilers.
For example, a few episodes ago people were saying things like "Hmm, did you notice how Libby changed the subject when Hurley said he thought he'd seen her before?"
Why would people do that? It's totally spoiling an upcoming twist. Ridiculous.

If you’ve seen The Shawshank Redemption, Clancy Brown is the captain of the guards. You might have seen him in Starship Troopers also…in addition to Sponge Bob. 😂

The good news is that he's probably already done with season 2 IRL so there is some grace with respect to spoilers. He probably already knows the things people are spoiling (if they're spoiling anything).

You've already watched 30% of LOST. There are 121 episodes all together, and this one is episode #40. S1 has 25 episodes, s2 - 24, s3 - 23, s4 - 14, s5 - 17, s6 - 18.

The actor at 11:50 is Clancy Brown. You may know him as Mr. Krabs in Spongebob Squarepants, Captain Hadley in The Shawshank Redemption, Sergeant Zim in Starship Troopers, or the voice of Surfur in Thor: Ragnarok.
My understanding of Arabic is that it's not a single language, but a family of languages. The Arabic that's spoken in one country, like Morocco, is not mutually intelligible with the Arabic spoken in, say Egypt. Am I right?
