So many inspiring thoughts after having watched this. 🤩 For the first time, I'm considering buying raw canvas and giving myself the opportunity to go BIG. It looks like so much fun!! Also, I loved the mid-tone tip and the argument for it. Thank you for being so generous with your process. I always love hearing your voice-over comments. Lots of love and light from me. ❤
That was so fun to see and I think even more fun to do. It encourages me to try to make paintings to get rid of all the stress in my body instead of getting stressed in the process and getting rid of too high expectations that we often create ourselves. Your son's spontaneous help is so moving and cute at the same time. Perhaps we can learn more from the spontaneity of children than from any great artist. Mother and son, I love this!!. Well doen !!💕🤗
Big Mama is great! Your son definitely has your genes for bold strikes in just the right places! I often dream of going big (seems like a good work out too). Very inspiring, thank you!💖🍀
Love it! I can't wait to see the next progress. (Realizing, as Jackie said, that large paintings use large amounts of paint) Was anyone else besides me crying out "Oh no! My precious!" when Jackie started applying the quin gold to the large canvas? That's my scarcity and sense of lack being triggered seeing a favorite paint that is hard to get actually being used! I hoard my little bottle of high flow quin gold weighing out the value of any project before I allow myself to use it. Thank you for this video...really inspiring.
Thanks so much! (And I TOO get a bit triggered with thoughts of using lots of quin. gold! 😆 That’s why I fudged it using Golden’s substitution blend 😅 I’m not 100% sure of the two color names, but if I don’t respond with them shortly, remind me and I’ll pass them on!)
Very fun, Jackie! I've been waiting for you to paint a large canvas & yay, you did it. Appreciate your verbiage describing your free approach & just having fun without pressure to produce something fab right off the bat.
Haha!! So cute when Axel came in and did his thing with abandon!! Then later their little heads pop in at the bottom of the screen!! 😂 This was GREAT Jackie!! Love how all these pieces are turning out!! I am seriously considering turning my livingroom into an extension of my studio like a loft in Paris or New York or somewhere! THEN I will be able to have a BIG WALL!! Yay!! Thank You!! ~❤~ 😊
Thank God your son is home and healthy!! This video is fantastic and I am loving the works in progress, the large piece is so free and fabulous!! When your son came in to paint with you for a few minutes it immediately reminded me of an artist and video you should watch! His name is nino yuniardi and the video is called " Painting with the kiddo". All of his videos are fun to watch, too!! Thanks for sharing your process visually and with dialogue so we can track your feelings as you paint!
@@jackieschomburgart Yes, he is so much fun to watch, and always gets me loosened up! The video with his daughter is at the very end of his video list.
Hi Jackie! Just wanted to let you know how thrilled I was to watch your son get his "Picasso" on!!! What a joy to watch him be so much braver than I am!! If it suits you, please leave his "rocketship" in there!!! (The cone shaped object a little to the left on the big canvass). How great is it to have your son's input on that piece!!! Have an awesome week!!
When I started painting on canvases that are 5ftx4ft, I almost couldn’t go back to painting small. It’s like the way I cook, I cook for an entire army or not at all. 😂
I am LOVING this so much! I really like where you ended the video and all the changes to Big Mama! Can't wait to see where it goes! I also like Brian Rutenberg! I love his videos that start out "Hey, come here ..." then follow with the most wonderful descriptions of a specific color. Every one is a learning lesson. I do the same with my canvases - they usually get a coat or two of parchment (liquitex basics). It's a great color. Hope you have a great day. Linda Herron
Also, Lowe’s and Home Depot are great places to acquire larger tools…. My boyfriend has now advised me that I should go shopping at these places with a stronger presence of adult supervision 😂😂😂
Jackie I am trying to make some videos. How do you connect when you’re talking to the camera at regular speed with time-lapse using a voice-over so it’s one video? Love your inspiration. Hope your son is doing well. Thanks.
Ruth, that’s wonderful! Yay, you!! I record voiceovers in iMovie after I do the timelapse video - that way the video is fast but my voice is real-time 🤗
Love what you create and how you do it! Would you please share what kind of china markers you use? They look so much better than the ones I bought. Thanks!
Hey Jackie happy Sunday 🎉. Wow really like that huge size canvas. I loveeee the colors and your son came in and made it snap! Love what you did with the white and loved it also prior to adding white back in. Jackie did you add panels to your walls so that you could add the canvas? Always wondering what I should do. Those small panals are also AMAZING! Wowww❤
Thank you so much 🤗 Hey - I need you to email me your contact info - you won a mini collage in the very first giveaway a couple weeks ago! Please send your info to jackie at jackieschomburg dot com ❤️
I apologize if I missed the explanation, but when you put the large canvas piece on the wall, did you secure it on every edge, only top and bottom or another way? I have been wanting to do something large for quite a while and I love the solution of doing it on the wall and on an unstretched canvas! I definitely have space constrictions (because I'm so messy). 🤭
jackie, is your paint that you use (Nova) an open-type paint? I use Amsterdam paint from tubes and if i smear down a bunch of one color, when I go to use another to blend, the first color is already set, so i can't get a good blending like you did with the red and white to make pink.
It’s not intended to be an open paint, no. However, because I put it on fairly thickly, enough of it was still went that it stained the white paint and turned it pink :) You can also add paint “extenders” or even Golden’s Open medium to extend the drying time of any paint, if you’d like to
I can’t guarantee it will survive on its own for 100s of years, but if it’s quality paint sealed in with a varnish it should be fine. I believe Bibby G (instagram.com/bibbygart ) almost exclusively uses Benjamin Moore house paint - which is the best quality paint I love using for my home too. Her art is in galleries all over 🤗
Yes, I understand that but in the beginning of your video, you are on camera talking in regular speed and then you segue to your speed up while you work on camera. I can do one and then the other but I don’t know how to connect them into one video.
