  • Revving to 10,800RPM this little Honda scared the pants off Scott when Ray took him for a drive and that was on the low-power, street setting!
In its "race" tune the car pumps out in excess of 1000hp which, given its 1000kg weight puts it in the magic 1:1 power-to-weight ratio.

Street car?!? Seeing how there isn't even an intake air filter, im pretty sure it dosnt make 1000hp, pulling in hot air, the turbo is way too big no? It will be trying to flow too much air and not build pressure, its good for efficiency as it will drive down the street like a non turbo car, it has enough flow around the turbo fins to drive normally, weird build, he is saying it builds pressure at 6000rpm, no vtec?!?! Want more oil pressure?!?! pretty sure you can just shin the oil pump for more pressure,.i did that on a d16 and got over 100psi on the Guage, instead of removing the most important thing making the large cam work at lower rpm for cruising making it actually not efficient, and a race only setup, thats incomplete, radiator is very small

There should be mentioned that the critical parts (at high rpm) always are the valve train (valve springs and valves) and the pistons+piston pins (they should be as light as possible).

      Thanks for the reply Harry.
I'm a V8 guy so sometimes I forget about the RPM sometimes. I like your approach to a more comprehensive closed loop control ie: Fuel pressure monitored and run states required for pumps, Comprehensive coolant system control and oil pressure run states. There are a few OEM's that could learn a lesson here. Can the Haltech control the water pump speed via pid in a table or did you put in the manual speed control because it gave you the opportunity to preempt an overheat state?
      Anyway great job
      Cheers

Gotta love passion and dedication, can't build a car without these. Not many sponsored parts on this car by the way. A lot of good, old-fashioned elbow grease though.

Nice vid. Funny I did the reverse. Had 81' Civic then 89' CRX-Si then 94' Civic. Was about to buy a 02' Civic Si and dealer would not let me test drive. Went to Subaru and test drove a WRX. Bought it and still have it....highly modified of course.

The car was specially prep'd for that scene and yes, the owner agreed to it before the shoot:) As you can probably tell the height difference between Scott and Ray is substantial so getting them both in the same shot was not easy.
