    With front wheel drive, you can often get more traction BACKING up the steep hills. Going forward up the hill, the center of gravity shifts away from the front (drive) wheels and toward the back wheels. If you back up, then the front wheels are downhill and the CG shifts toward them, giving you a little more weight and traction on the drive wheels. Just something to keep in mind if you REALLY have to get up a steep gravel hill in the future.

    Maybe I'll have to lift my Prius. I've hit the front of mine on those parking space barriers many times. Try backing your Prius up that gravely hill. With front wheel drive you normally lose weight on those front wheels driving forward up a hill. Backing up the hill has the opposite effect.

    This is super cool, and it really levels out the ride height, definitely a nice quality of life upgrade.
    Also just FYI, you shouldn't fill your tank past the first click, as overfilling can cause gas to enter into the EVAP system/charcoal canister/etc., and while it might only cause a temporary check engine light, at worst it can be an expensive fix! Ask me how I know haha

    • @comingofkym
      @comingofkym 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@16driver16 hold up wait a minute. then what is the click for? I was told that you should never go pass the first click because the pressure is too great

    • @16driver16
      @16driver16 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@comingofkym every pump has a different flow rate and nozzle making the point at which they "click" and stop pumping is radically different depending on the setup, generally unless you pull the pump all the way out of the fill nozzle or use a gas can you will not fill it so much it goes into the vents that lead to the evap system. A slow pump with an old fashioned nozzle could overfill a tank or a pump with a faulty nozzle, and it's easy to do filling with a gas can.

    I live in Chico CA, and learned about Prius Off Road. I had my Prius lifted too and also added the skid plate. You can get the Dr. Prius App and an OBD2 adapter, that plugs in below steering wheel, that will override Traction Control. I watched you struggling to get up that dirt hill, and with that App you could have toggled off Traction Control and you would have gone up the hill the first time.

    👍 Eric is a good guy and makes a great product for our Prius.
    I visited him on part of an 8600 mile multi month road trip in my "Class P" camper(Prius)
    I wish I had gotten the Springs when I was there.

    So L&L, you would have been successful making it up your off-road path if you'd have disarmed the Prius' traction control. You can look it up on line. I used a Prius as a rural mailman and drove it all day long in this mode especially in the snow. It's a simple sequence when starting the car using the Power button and flooring the gas pedal 2x and shifting from neutral to park etc. Check it out and keep the instructions in your glove box.
    Happy Trails! Jon

    Another great video! Thanks for sharing the information about the lifted Prius. Sadly I to give up my Prius three weeks ago, back and neck issues from getting in and out of the Prius. I will miss my Prius that’s for sure especially in the mpg department🥲. I got a Mazda CX 5. Really loving the ride height and the seats are so comfortable and I do not miss that horrible road noise. The CX 5 is so quiet inside. And I drive my Mazda CX 5 like I drove my Prius. Lol yes If you keep it under 70 mph you get very good mileage. The best mileage I got over the 3000 mile trip I took was 37 miles The lowest mileage I got was 31 miles per gallon. Plus it has all wheel drive.But I will always have love for the Prius.❤️

    Morbidly curious, how's lifting your Prius treating your hybrid milage? Also does it feel looser on the road as you drive (wind grabbing ahold of it more etc). When we had a Prius I swear all we did was bottom out on the back roads to my parents lol. I ended up going back to SUV land, but now our lovely kina has an EV cousin so we're saving for that. We'll get the backroad ease of an SUV without feeling like gas guzzling jerks every time we take the car out of the garage (although our kina actually gets really good milage for a crossover)

    • @LeahandLevi

      Good question! We stash foodwaste for a uncomfortable amount of time in the hopes of finding a compost but sometimes we do have to trash it which is sad. Our plastic waste is also higher on the road for sure. Sadly the infrastructure in various places on the road aren’t great for living zero waste 😬

    Great video. It may be better to get a set of off road tires too.

    but still lower if you want more lift up put in front lexus HS front coil spring in rear sonata 7 coil spring it would be much better for lift and can hold big luggage also you should change your tires in 16 inch wheels and its done.

      We avg about 5.4l/100km in the city and highway combined. It's really not that noticeable

    Is your camera broken? At the beach and at the part testing the car, it looks blurry and shoppy at the edges of the frame.
