Nice to see Mrs K back. I know she's been busy, but taste test time aint quite been the same without her.

Nothing finer than a cheese scone with plenty of butter and chilli jam 😋

Great to see Mrs Keefcooks back! Also, thanks for the info on the airfryer. Am tempted to get one as our big gas range cooker is getting increasingly erratic and will cost a small fortune to run for the relatively small amount we cook each time.

:-) I am an Ilkeston Derbyshire (about 50 yrs ago) Sc-oh-n speaker. :-) I thought your pronunciation was by posh people from London.
A very pragnatic review. I have an elderly (20+yrs) Phillips (about 2.4 L I think) thing and have recently bought an IP Vortex 5.7 Litre one cos it is bigger. I also have a Kasa thingy which gives some indication of electricity used (no idea how accurate, doubt it is very, if at all) and it says to me that it costs 0.14 kWh to cook a basket of Oven type Chips and about 0.2 kWh to cook the potato type (Non-par boiled which I would normally do).
I know because I monitor my electrical demand daily that it used to cost 80-90p to make a batch of Home Brew (full Mashed from grain), it now costs over two pounds. Tsk - my expensive brew has increased in price to almost 60p/pint. (guesstimate) :-)
I suggested some time ago that Scones were - sort of-separated out from a partially cut up shape of a round one in the middle and (perhaps) eight ones around the centre which were wedge shaped. I have still not seen where I think that from.
    Must make some.

Great video. I didn’t put the cheese on top because I wasn’t sure how they would turn out.(I’m new to airfryering) they didn’t cook very well underneath so I turned them just before the end of cooking and then put the cheese on. Very happy with the outcome. Served as they do in the Yorkshire Dales with Wensleydale cheese and chutney of your choice. Aldi caramelised red onion chutney is mwaaa.

I was sightly disappointed when you didn't use the cake tin base. It seemed like such a simple solution. I've seen folk use a strip of folded kitchen foil for lifting containers in and out, with the ends tucked out of the way during cooking. Maybe that might work with the tray.
PS Marmite on the scones for me, with just a smear of Golden Shred. Sounds weird, but tastes wonderful!

LOL, yes here in the US it is usually pronounced sc-oh-nes! But since we’ve butchered the entire language, no surprise there 😏. Nonetheless,I do love scones and don’t make them nearly enough so these cheesy scones are a nice idea, especially in the air fryer and a nice change from the sweet versions I usually make. I have a combination air fryer-toaster-rotisserie-convection oven with the glass front. We really like it and use it quite a bit and while the air fryer function works quite well, I sometimes think that a dedicated air fryer such as yours might possibly do a better job. However, in a small kitchen the combo is definitely better to deal with. 👋👋 to Mrs. Keef. Nice to see her back.
Have you done a clog (VLOG NOT CLOG, DAMNED AUTOCORRECT)recently? I need to go check but haven’t seen any notifications. Curious as to your thoughts on the new PM. US news is totally focused on yesterday’s sad news. Quite a lady. Quite a legacy. Going to take me awhile before King Charles rolls off my tongue instead of “Prince” 😄. Thanks for another interesting video.

Air fryer, slow cooker, stovetop, instant kettle... what else does anyone really need? Bread machine maybe. Some would say rice cooker but I think cooking rice on the stovetop's easy enough.

Looks lovely! I didn't know one could use air fryers for baking. Do you know how air fryers compare to toaster ovens for efficiency? The latter are more compact. What a nice treat to see Mrs KC! (I'm on Team Keef: scone rhymes with dawn, unless it's a Scottish stone of national importance, in which case I gather it rhymes with moon.)

@@Keefcooks I have a Toaster/Mini Oven which I use often and frankly it is useless as a Toaster, I tried it and I cannot believe it could be used as an Air Fryer. I use it in preference to putting the full size oven on only.
I have an Halogen Oven which would work especially for a large batch.
I am a great believer in 'Horses for Courses'. I once watched a torturous TH-cam Video of someone making an Omlette in an Halogen Oven. Bearing in mind that in a small frying pan (called an Omlette Pan) an Omlette cooks in a couple of minutes, this was still going after half an hour, blowing ripples all over the place.

Sticking my nose in here after having used a toaster oven for many years. They are misnamed, not much cop for actual toast but great for cooking small amounts of stuff you'd normally do in your big oven, like frozen fish or chicken filets and such. They heat up to 450 F and most of these prepackaged things cook at that temp - because I'm not certain it is as hot as a big oven really - from about 10 to 12 minutes per side , so a half an hour including the fast preheat time. They're very good when you're wanting small amounts done without heating up the whole house in hot weather, and are very useful when you're only cooking for 2 not a houseful. It can grill too, so it's canny for melting cheese on top of stuff. It's also supposed to have the air fryer function as well but I've never bothered checking that out. I've had my current one for years and it's my second one. Like a microwave or air fryer it saves on power vastly compared to the big oven. I'd recommend it without question. One thing. Make sure the inside is big enough for a plate pie because if not it's not worth it. Just as a microwave needs to be big rough to accommodate a tallish container. My most useful small appliances are electric kettle and toaster, microwave, toaster oven, pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker.
My younger son swears by his electric deep fat fryer for his chips. 😊 Oh, and he loves his George Foreman electric grill, two non stick grooved metal plates between which he cooks every form of meat. He went on holiday in spring and used air b and bs and tried out an air fryer available in one of his stays. He wasn't impressed. Said it took half an hour to cook something he could in half the time by his usual methods, a toaster oven or frying pan, non stick for no fat. Sorry to ramble on but I figured it's always useful to hear from those with experience of a product rather than from advertising bumph. I appreciate Keef giving us the lowdown on things too, so I'm just following a good example. Welcome back Mrs Keef! 😊🤗

I thought an air fryer was basically a small convection oven? I moved to the USA and air fryers are all the rage here but probably because convection ovens aren’t…. Whereas in the UK I feel like a lot more people had them?

The Ninja air fryer is a popular choice but since I got mine for £189 a few months ago the same model as increased in price to £275 on Amazon but looking again today it's reduced to £229. It's strange how Amazon prices are up one day and down the next day.
