    Why is that all readers first thought when they see a big book is that they could commit murder with it ?😂

      It would be a good weapon. Who would ever suspect a 10 pound novel as being a murder weapon? 😂😂😂

      +Book Landia when that happens, I think that it better not have plot twists because I throw the books across the room when that happens and it will break something hahaha

      +Book Landia Probably it's vecause we can't imagine a better death than by the figurative hands of a good chunky book.

    I absolutely love the Finishing School series! It blends a lot of my favorite elements together: steampunk, espionage, and high tea. What I love the most about it is that it reads kind of like a Series of Unfortunate Events. It has all of those elements but it's pretty campy and fun.

    Juliet Marillier is a fabulous author, and honestly if you are a fan of Brandon Sanderson's high fantasy novels, I feel like you will like her adult high fantasy novels. The Sevenwaters series (daughter of the forest) is so great! Very satisfyingly addicting for a high fantasy series! I've read every single book she has written and I think the adult fantasy books are much better than the YA series. If you are worried about her Sevenwaters series you should try one of her other adult series first, like the Blackthorn and Grim series or the Bridei chronicles. Her writing does not disappoint!

    City of Stairs looks really cool, I've heard good things about it too! The Book of Lost Things sounds fantastic. Also The Inheritance Trilogy. And Truthwitch. Basically these books are all now on my TBR if they weren't already. So thank you :)

  • @jamie6202
    @jamie6202 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Truthwitch was honestly remarkable! Highly recommend if you are looking for just a cool, unique, epic fantasy. Great Characters and the romance takes a backseat to the point where it almost doesn't exist to the friendship. It was great! Awesome bookhaul, btw!

  • @it.comes.around
    @it.comes.around 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I got both passenger and truthwitch because I went to a signing for both authors near me. Both books were great, but for different reasons. Also, I heard that because the magic system was so vast, it could be hard to follow. I made myself a little guide while reading it to keep track of the types of witches, myths, and thread colors. Writing the guide was very useful and I highly recommend that people try doing the same while they read it. It will also really help when the sequel comes out.

    I read the Book of Lost Things a few years ago in college and loved it! And yes, read Juliet Marillier!!! A friend introduced me to Daughter of the Forest from her Sevenwaters series when I was in high school and I was hooked! The premise of the story is so unlike anything I've ever read. I hope you pick it up. 😊

    The Book of Lost Things!!!! Heads up, this is not really a middle grade book. It's more of an adult book with great cross over appeal for YA readers. I loved it and really fell into the world. I hope you enjoy it and I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it! If you enjoy Americanah, you should check out We Should All Be Feminist by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. They have a bind up available that is about 45 pages or you can TH-cam her Ted Talk. I highly recommend this if you enjoy her other writing.

    The finishing school series! I love that world so much! The finishing school series is set before the parasol protectorate(however that's spelled) series. I didn't realise this until after I'd ready read etiquette and espionage but it's amazing no matter which series you read first

    "The Library at Mount Char" is definitely weird, quirky, and dark. It's so unique and different and you never know what to expect... I read it last year and I am STILL contemplating it. So excited that you picked it up! Also, "The Book of Lost Things" and "Starflight" sound super interesting! I am on a book buying ban after my last BookOutlet haul.... but I have about 20 new books on my shelves now, all of which I am excited about! xD

  • @HylianDreamer

  • @chrishusted6488
    @chrishusted6488 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you can manage to make it through the first couple of chapters of The Library at Mount Char, which are most likely to repulse you, the book is well worth the time. Probably my favorite speculative novel of last year. It isn't like anything else out there. I can also recommend the John Connolly novel, although I seem to remember it as adult, not middle grade. I've read the first two novels of the Inheritance Trilogy, but recently sold them back to Half Priced Books. I still own the third and intend to read it, but it isn't a keeper series for me. I just recently bought The City of Stairs and hope to read it soon. The sequel is already out, naturally....

    I hope you enjoy Shadowfell :) Juliet Marillier is one of my favourites. I think you'd enjoy the Sevenwaters series, especially the Daughter of the Forest, which is based on a fairy tale. The whole series has everything: strong characters (especially women), magic, druids, faeries... the list just goes on and on...

  • @jennifercronin5979
    @jennifercronin5979 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just finished the Library at Mount Char! It was pretty strange but interesting and definitely crazy.
    I've only read the first book in NK Jemisin's trilogy, although I plan to read the next two eventually.
    I haven't read that Juliet Marillier book, but the Sevenwaters series is great, and I just started her new series Blackthorn and Grim which starts with Dreamer's Pool. Her books can be a bit slow, but I really enjoy then!
    YES read the Parasol Protectorate! I don't think you need to read it to enjoy the Finishing School series, although there are some character cameos that are more fun if you've read her adult series.
    Can't wait to hear what you think; looks like you have a lot of great books to read!

  • @Emotron1000

    Ahhhh! I'm so excited that you'll be reading The Book of Lost Things! I really don't see it as a middle grade, I read it when I was 13 and it DISTURBED me! And I'm not really someone who's particularly susceptible to creepy stuff. Having said that, it is one of my favourite books! Thoroughly recommend!

    I love the Parasol Protectorate by Gail Carriger and I am loving the Finishing school series. You should read Parasol Protectorate if you like her writing, it is more of an young adult tale. Gail Carriger is creating another spin off of Parasol and you should definitely read Parasol before reading that new series.

  • @Starrkg77

    You should be fine reading the Finishing School series before The Paracol Protectorate because I've only read the first book in that series but have finished all of Finishing school and I was fine.
