you are so spot on with A Fate Inked in Blood, I felt exactly the same way! I felt like the main plot was completely abandoned in favor of shoving in as many romance scenes as possible in the second half
My only “worst” book was The Pumpkin Spice Cafe by Laurie Gilmore. It was okay but it had a trope that I wasn’t a fan of. The first half was so addicting but I started to get annoyed with everyone except for the cat. I couldn’t live in a small town like that😂
A Fate Inked in Blood was one of my worst reads of this year. It was extremely disappointing. I really love Jensen's Bridge Kingdom, so I had high expectations for it.
Agreed on The Book of Doors. Cartoon villains, romances that were barely tacked-on, it took like 5 hours to introduce the central mystery of how Cassie got the book, etc. Glad I avoided Weyward. It sounded right up my alley, but luckily I saw chatter about how unrelentingly heavy it was.
I'm listening to Powerless by Lauren Roberts on Audiobook now. Sounds bar for bar like The Games the Gods Play, thief main character with dark past attached to the nobility, snappy main character trying to be likable, bad boy romance, it's also one of the worst books I've ever read/listened to. Avoid at all costs
Here's my picks Memnoch the devil by Anne rice book 5 in the vampire chronicles It happened one summer by tessa bailey Some desperate glory by Emily tesh Flying solo by linda Holmes Steelstriker by marie lu The love song for ricki wilde by tia Williams Same time next summer by annabel Monaghan Sex lies and sensibility by nikki Payne it's a modern take on sense and sensibility Taming 7 by chloe Walsh
I have come to the conclusion that good concept doesn't always equel good execution, sadly. As for most disappointing book this year...probably The Atlas Complex. I dnfed the last quarter and skimmed the end.
I liked Weyward and ACOSF but I totally get your reasoning for why you didn’t love them! Lots of books here that I think I’ll be staying away from, haha. Some of my most disappointing reads (and least favorites) of this year include Powerless by Lauren Roberts, Love and Other Words, House of Sky and Breath, The Wishing Game, All the Colors of the Dark, A Curse For True Love, The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, and Ninth House! 😬😭
I loved the Book of Doors reminded me of Locke&Key a lot ! So I must know you mentioned other books doing it better, what are they? I’d love to read them.
Ok so glad to see another person dislike A Court of Silver Flames!! I felt like SJM did Rhysand dirty in this book and changed people’s characters based on who they were set up in the first trilogy.
I shipped these two so much but the "angry bonking but we don't have feelings for each other" was just bleh. Emotional connection please and not just fan service! I dnfed at 70%
It took me 3 times to read this book. I just couldn't. Put it on audiobook at 3x speed just to finish it so my friend would shut up lol proceeded to get rid of all the sjm books I have lol I was so mad with acosf
The games gods play sounds exactly like the avatars series by Tui T. Sutherland. I read it when I was little and completely forgot about it till you were describing that book. Kids representing a different mythology all battle to decide which mythology will rule the world.
Some books I was disappointed by this year were: the Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner, The Tale of Kore by Amanda L. Rautio, and City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. I read the Lost Apothecary and City of Bones. I did not like either at all but I finished them. The Tale of Kore I DNF’d. It was so boring and mostly focused on college classes and not the fantasy. It was labeled a fantasy book but didn’t have much of that in it so I DNF’d it.
girl just kept mentioning books I also was disappointed in. A Fate Inked in Blood, Heartless Hunter, and Weyward all let me down and I had such high hopes for all of them!
You read the games gods play for filth and I love it. I am SOOOO sick of these romantasy tropes being done to death without any concern for how it aligns with the actual story. I am so over it. I don’t think I’m touching a lot of romantasy in 2025.
Weyward's synopsis sounded so promising to me too but it ended up being such a let down, it just didn't come together in the way I wanted it to, especially when dealing with so many heavy topics.
There are deeper and darker layers behind the whole astrology concept. I highly recommend exploring them in the book named Hidden Signs of the Universe by Olivia Cooper
My worst books this year were definitely Cursed Bread (weird but in a boring way), Midnight on Beacon Street(interesting premise that did not deliver and was also boring), and What feasts at night (loved the first in this series but hated this one - so boooring) 😅
I was disappointed by Ink Blood Sister Scribe, I LOVED the beginning but by the ending I was not into any of the characters and I just wanted it to be over. Also the third Crescent City that came out by Sjm was so long and not at all as exciting as I thought it would be, the cliffhanger in the second book was so good, it was almost too good because the third book did not deliver for me on that cliffhanger. I also read Butcher and Blackbird and it was so bad. Just not my cup of tea at all. For two murderers they had really boring sex. 😂💀
I also didn’t like the crimson moth and after I finished it I was worried that your initial review when you read it clouded my opinion and it might have, but your summary was a lot of things I didn’t think about but definitely a big NOPE. Another book I’m struggling to get through is the seventh veil of Salome, but I’m worried I’m just not in the mood right now.
I kind of have a three way tie for my worst books of the year, lol. 1. A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross was deeply unimpressive to me in terms of characters and world building, and I thought the writing style sucked (if I want Celtic-inspired magic, I'll just reread The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater) 2. Interesting Facts About Space by Emily R. Austin was plotless and jumpy (and the chapters were too long). 3. Family Lore by Elizabeth Acevedo would have been a great historical fiction had it focused on that family timeline, but it was too many people to keep track of (and I admit going into it expecting it to be like The Inheritance of Orquídea Divina by Zoraida Córdova). What's funny to me is that these were all BOTM picks, but then some picks made my favorites list, so they certainly have range!
Wow, so cool to find someone who feels the same way about "Golden Sun"! The book has far too many plot twists, most of which seemed unnecessary. It felt like everyone was out to deceive Darrow for no reason other than to shock the readers. Most of what went down had me rolling my eyes.
The strategy in Nifestixo The Hidden Path to Manifesting Financial Power ebook completely shifted my perspective. It's like finding a shortcut to endless wealth!

I could rant for dayssss about the choices SJM has the characters make in ACOSF. Absolute side eye to Rhys and she wrote Feyre to be so weak 😭

I read two chapters of this and had to DNF 😂
@@brandylynn3056you’re stronger than I am 😂 the final sentence was so cringy that I wish I stopped reading it earlier on lol
This is always so entertaining!
love the hot takes 👏🏻👏🏻
You've gotta read morning star!! It is the best out of the 3 by far the story and plot gets very exciting and really picks up!!
A Fate Inked in Blood was one of my worst reads of this year. It was extremely disappointing. I really love Jensen's Bridge Kingdom, so I had high expectations for it.
Omg I LOVE spicy Regan 😂
hehehe
As someone with bad knees- the staircase stuff made complete sense to me as going down sometimes is harder and more painful than going up

haha good to know!
Powerless is the most overrated romantasy book I have ever read
Here's my picks
Memnoch the devil by Anne rice book 5 in the vampire chronicles
It happened one summer by tessa bailey
Some desperate glory by Emily tesh
Flying solo by linda Holmes
Steelstriker by marie lu
The love song for ricki wilde by tia Williams
Same time next summer by annabel Monaghan
Sex lies and sensibility by nikki Payne it's a modern take on sense and sensibility
Taming 7 by chloe Walsh
I was so sad about Steelstriker considering I loved the first book!
I have come to the conclusion that good concept doesn't always equel good execution, sadly. As for most disappointing book this year...probably The Atlas Complex. I dnfed the last quarter and skimmed the end.

Oh gosh great to see Weyward on there. I thought I was the only one disappointed in it. It's getting so much hype.
Ok so glad to see another person dislike A Court of Silver Flames!! I felt like SJM did Rhysand dirty in this book and changed people’s characters based on who they were set up in the first trilogy.
Totally agree about a court of silver flames 💯
yes 100p!!! there were some WILD choices
I shipped these two so much but the "angry bonking but we don't have feelings for each other" was just bleh. Emotional connection please and not just fan service! I dnfed at 70%

@@de5072 lol Yeah this was the book that made me stop reading SJM

Oh my gosh, the staircase stuff in ACOSF…it bothered me sooooo much! Completely illogical 😂

First commenter! again! Merry Christmas all!

i am SO GLAD someone else didn’t enjoy heartless hunter. i feel like it is drastically overhyped and not a good book imo.
Weyward's synopsis sounded so promising to me too but it ended up being such a let down, it just didn't come together in the way I wanted it to, especially when dealing with so many heavy topics.
I wanted to pick up The Games Gods Play, it sucks that so many books are like that now
There are deeper and darker layers behind the whole astrology concept. I highly recommend exploring them in the book named Hidden Signs of the Universe by Olivia Cooper
For me it was Phantasma, I genuinely do not understand the love for this book, it was poorly done in my opinion. 😞
Stardust Grail was SUCH a letdown; I ended up dnf'ing 😔 Deep Sky was my fave sci-fi i've read in YEARS. Such a big swing!
Silver under nightfall was my worst book this year … so many people i have the same taste in loved that book
I love these videos.
My worst books this year were definitely Cursed Bread (weird but in a boring way), Midnight on Beacon Street(interesting premise that did not deliver and was also boring), and What feasts at night (loved the first in this series but hated this one - so boooring) 😅
Can't believe I'm sitting here watching all this Red Rising slander 😭
I was disappointed so much by the twist/ ending of Metal Slinger! Loved the whole book, but hated the ending!
I agree with you completely about A Fate Inked In Blood.
I was disappointed by Ink Blood Sister Scribe, I LOVED the beginning but by the ending I was not into any of the characters and I just wanted it to be over.

Love ur hair so cute and amazing regan! ❤️❤️🎁📚❄️🌨️🌨️💚💚🎄📖📖📖📚🎄🎄📖☃️💚❤️❤️💚🎅🏻🎅🏻🎁❄️📙❄️🌨️🌨️🌨️
When the moon hatched ! I don't get the hype 😅
For me it has to be Wind and Truth, so underwhelming 😣
Curious, how do you feel about Throne of Glass these days? Do you still like it or nah?
Completely agree about Weyward. Criminally boring and I found it so surface level.
I also didn’t like the crimson moth and after I finished it I was worried that your initial review when you read it clouded my opinion and it might have, but your summary was a lot of things I didn’t think about but definitely a big NOPE.

So so cute and adorable
So bummed when you expect more and the book just doesn’t deliver!
I was NOT expecting to hear you talk in French 👁️👄👁️
you lost me at the skin care sales pitch
Luckily I have not read a single one of these 😂
I loved a fate inked in blood 😬😬 pretty pumped for the second book 😁
Loved heartless hunter too 😂
Red Rising series
I am so glad Weyward made the list. I felt the same way...dnf'd it.
Totally with you on book of doors ugh
Heartless hunter and weyward were both 5 star reads for me. 😊
They were both a "meh" 2 and 3 stars to me 😊
Wow, so cool to find someone who feels the same way about "Golden Sun"! The book has far too many plot twists, most of which seemed unnecessary. It felt like everyone was out to deceive Darrow for no reason other than to shock the readers. Most of what went down had me rolling my eyes.

OMG! Loved heartless Hunter so much and the book of doors ❤️❤️🎅🏻🎄🎄🎄💚💚🎁🌨️🌨️☃️☃️❤️🎄☃️📚📚📚📖📖📙📙📖📖📚📚📚📚📚
Absolutely Loved❤❤❤Heartless Hunter!! Can’t wait for Rebel Witch

go away spammers 😠
The “checklist” you mentioned for the Games Gods Play is EXACTLY how I felt about Powerless by Lauren Roberts 🫢
