Very interesting video. Thx for all your efforts. Would be niche if you could show the total energy consumption incl charging losses. I calculated the between 5 and 8% based on your data👍👍. Keep up

    • @BatteryLife
      @BatteryLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

You can calculate that from my data.
      avg consumption times km driven
and how many kWh I have charged.
      154 wh/km x 57,4 km = 8,84 kWh
      charged 9,23 kWh.
      = 0,39 kWh loss.
In this case it is 4,4%

These days I tend not to drive so fast and find that (in the UK) it helps that big trucks are kept fairly effectively to about 90km which allows me to set cruise to 100 and stay out of their way. Clearly I am only a little faster than the trucks which slows the overtaking process but the key thing is that I don't get heavy vehicles on my tail wanting to get past and I can always speed up if I feel I need to.

Consumption is a bit high, range is effectively on par with an ID3 58. But I like the flat charging curve.

Trucks slow down on hills because of the weight they are pulling. On the down hill they have to use the exhaust brake or manual braking to keep the speed down 90kms so not to attract an infringements on the digital recording device.

Thanks very much for the video. Nice ride..
As it is Front wheel drive does it suffer from torque steer?

In modern trucs the cruse control slow down in the climbs to save fuell and it accelerate when road go down to take advantage ok inertia...

How do you determine the best speed is 140 km/h?
The average speed in the table is for 57.4 km drive + recharge, which is a fun comparison, but not really something a traveller would do, right?

It is just a test. Never perfect, an estimation.

the long screen and HUD are cool and the air vents are gorgeous, but god those wheels are ugly...

All electric SUV models have a 'high' consumption. ID4, Audi e-tron,... Weight, big tyres, high rolling resistance,... justifies the consumption. Not that it has high consumption due to an unthoughtful design.

LOL IT IS UNTHOUGHTFUL. Having an electric "SUV" is stupid

I'm really starting to like MB again. Even these EV converted ICE cars are good EVs. Just a note, charging in kW is charging power, not speed. A MB CLA EQ version would be nice

    • @BatteryLife

Charging power = charging speed in the EV linguistics ;)

The Mercedes interior is no good, those tacky vents dominate the whole interior. On the other side I tried the ID4 today, the interior there was actually excellent, it doesn't very look good on video but the dark/black version was very nice from the driver point of view.

Mercedes interior is good and way better than id4 or ionic 5 etc keep it real...
