    Great work Marty. The car used in Harry Potter was a Ford Anglia 105e, I once had one.

      yes, the Anglia was Matchbox #7, in production to 1966, then the Anglia was replaced by the Ford D series refuse truck in 1967.

  • @ONEFUNFONE

    The first car I learned how to drive in, drive a stick in, hand crank and work on was a 1959 Austin A55 MkII my dad owned. He actually had three of them at one time- two of the cars were basket case parts cars that were stripped and scrapped and the other was an old gasser we converted back to stock. Mentioning grants pass, Oregon we lived in portland at that time, a three hour drive north. Dad sold that car and the parts in the mid 90s and I haven't seen it since. I'd love to see it again. Nice restoration on the car!

    In my mind I always end up back in the 1960s in 'Timothy Whites' the Chemist, the display cabinet is on the wall and it is full of matchbox cars, all in the little boxes. Still an exciting thought to this day.

    • @MartysMatchboxMakeovers
      @MartysMatchboxMakeovers  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have the same memories but from 'Giffords' in Basingstoke. Up a flight of wooden stairs and there's the display cabinet. I would drool over it , the smell of the wood and wax polish is still in my head.

    That's crazy how that paint separated like that, that's like when oil separates from water, looks like the blue paint was oil base or enamel paint, Idk, wow that car was really rough, you brought it back to life and you did good on the color, I like the color on it too, and the display stands you had with the cars on them looked like you have some nice ones, at the end of the video I thought watch he's gonna grab that fence and it will be an electric fence and Kevin will turn it on lol, you got hung up and sat on a barb wire it was funny but maybe more courageous, thanks for a awesome and entertaining video

    There is a product in North America, (not sure if it is available in Australia, ) for rust removal. It is non-toxic, non-corrosive, and reusable. It has been used by a number of TH-camrs, though I started using it before seeing it on YT. I'm not one to advertise for a product, but this stuff does work. It's called Evaporust. Comes in a 4L jug. It requires full immersion of the item (i.e. it's not a brush on. ) I personally have used it many times and am always amazed at how well it removes rust. Good for any ferrous metals with corrosion (rust. )
    Love the restorations! Miss seeing Julie in the videos. Hi to her!

    Considering how long the little one was "buried" somewhere, the resto has become excellent. 🤩👍🏼
    With the amount of damage, it's almost impossible to get it back to a new condition.
    But you can clearly see how much TLC 🛠️🎨🖌️ you've invested in transforming the Austin from a piece of scrap metal back into a gem for the showcase 😉
    Well done Marty, clearly both thumbs up for this 👍🏼👍🏼
    Thanks a lot for sharing 🙏🏼
    A bonza weekend to you, Julie and all the team behind the scene and stay safe and sound. Keep up the good work, mate 😁

  • @lotharrenz4621
    @lotharrenz4621 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I was about to add that the Harry Potter car was a ... never mind, a couple double-dozen comments already mentioned it. XD
    seriously, this was close to the buried truck you did a couple years ago, a little less corroded, but still a challenge. :) maybe someone recommended it already, but Revell and Tamiya offer modeler's putty, the only difference is that Revell's stuff is an off-white and Tamiya's is medium grey (cool grey IV, as Faber-Castell would put it).
    odd thing with the paint. maybe it is like with engine oils; supposedly mixable, but with modern stuff, additives can clash and cause damages. maybe the paint makers use different basics, who knows. but it ended up being a nice green. :)
    also, interesting "windshield brace". I'd assume they meant hinting at the windshield sealing frame. but that edge there? no idea. as if they wanted to experiment on fastening a window insert, and discarded it without re-retooling the mould again. it has happened before, like then Majorette's VW 1302 lost it's bonnet but the interior still had the boot with a suitcase moulded in.
    anyway. so you went metaldetecting... what was that beep, then? probably a blop of rusted metal, I guess. and on your way back you had to discover that Kevin can perform a Kevin without even being there... XD
