"Break a leg" originates in theater, specifically as good luck for an audition, because if you "break a leg" you end up in the cast. It has since expanded from there to more general usage.
the term 'break a leg' comes from early 1900's when people would go on stage either singing acting anything in front of an audience they said wishing them luck would jynx them and do the complete opposite so they said break a leg instead hoping for the complete opposite.

I have never heard that in my entire life. I don't know that is it used often in Western Canada.
That's a bible verse...I think it's older generational usage...like raining cats and dogs.
I've heard that phrase more living in Korea for a year than entire life time in the US. When it rains and a Korean locks eyes with a foreigner, they have that "I've been waiting my whole life for this moment to use this phrase that I learned" look...and they approach you and say hey...it's raining...

The Chinese idiom: "说曹操，曹操就到“/Talking about Cao Cao and Cao Cao arrives actually means "speaking of the devil" and it actually makes a whole lot of sense.
People that are into history would know that Cao Cao was one of the fiercest warlord and considered a tyrant during the Three Kingdoms period and because he basically kidnapped the emperor of the Han Empire into his realm, he used the emperor's name to "unify" the nation thus he's always attacking people.
Thus warlords started to fear his invasions and would often talk about him non-stop during court meetings in their respective realms and soon, no matter what, he would attack thus that's how the phrase meant. If you talk about that person, he would eventually appear so it's like "speak of the devil".
Chinese also have an idiom about a historical figure and that's "半路杀出一个程咬金“/"Cheng Yaojin suddenly appears at the middle of the path".
Cheng Yaojin was a prolific general during the Tang dynasty and having served distinguishingly with 3 Tang emperors. He was in Li Mi's rebel forces during the rebellion against the Sui and when his colleague Shan Xiongxin was besieged by Wang Shicong, no one expected Cheng Yaojin to appear out of nowhere with 3000 cavalry forces to split a way against Wang's forces so they can get Shan and his remaining forces out.
Thus that's where the idiom came from which meant that there's someone that appeared unannounced or just a wordplay for a busybody.

더 많은 사람들이 대화를 했기때문에 더 많은 속담이 존재할꺼라고 단순하게 생각할수있지만~
이건 뭐 속담은 사회적가치관과 지혜를 전달하고 공유하기때문에 문학과 관련이 있기때문에~
어느 나라의 문학이 더 발달되었냐~ 누가 더 미개하냐~ 이런건 일반화 할수있는 부분이 아님.ㅋㅋ
그래서 "다른나라 속담이 우리나라에 다 있는거네" 라고 생각하는건~ 미개한 사람이나 내뱉는 국뽕질이죠^^

속담은 아닌데 오래전부터 (아마 일제시대때부터) 비슷한게 있어요. 한국인,일본인,중국인을 돼지우리에 넣었대요. 가장 먼저 일본인이 더럽다며 뛰쳐나왔어요. 그다음엔 한국인도 같이 뛰쳐나왔어요. 근데, 돼지우리에서 중국인이 안나오는거예요. 그래서 이상하게 여겨서 돼지우리를 보니까 돼지들과 중국인이 잘 어울려 지냈더래요. 이런 속담(?) 전해내려오는 이야기도 있었습니다. 다른 나라에도 있는지 궁금합니다. Although not a proverb, there has been a similar story circulating for a long time (probably since the time of Japanese colonial era). It goes like this: Koreans, Japanese, and Chinese were put in a pigsty. The Japanese were the first to leave, saying it was dirty. Then the Koreans also left. But strangely, no Chinese came out of the pigsty. So, it was considered odd, and when they looked into the pigsty, they found that the pigs and the Chinese were getting along well. This story has been passed down through generations. I wonder if there are similar stories in other countries.

재미있는 속담 중에 "푼주(엄청 큰 그릇)의 송편이 주발(밥그릇보다 조금 큰 그릇)뚜껑 송편 맛만 못하다"라는 속담이 있어요ㅎㅎ
이건 조선 숙종 때 이야기에서 나온 말인데, 어느 날은 왕이 평범한 사람처럼 입고 사람들이 어떻게 사나 궁금해서 나와봤답니다. 돌아다니다가 어느 집 앞에서 글 읽는 소리가 들려서 몰래 그 안을 봤는데, 남편이 글을 읽고 아내는 바느질을 하고 있었대요. 남편이 출출함을 느껴서 아내에게 뭐 먹을 것 없냐고 하니까 아내가 주발 뚜껑에 있던 송편 두 개를 주더랍니다. 그러자 남편이 얼른 하나를 먹고 다른 하나에도 손을 대는 거예요. 지켜보던 왕은 '저 인정머리 없는 놈, 아내도 하나 주지 자기만 홀랑 2개를 다 먹어?!'라고 생각했는데, 남편이 그 남은 송편 하나를 아내 입에 넣어주더래요. 그렇게 잘 사는 건 아니었지만 오순도순 행복한 부부의 모습을 보고 마음이 따뜻해진 왕이 궁궐에 가서 송편이 먹고 싶다고 하자 궁궐에서는 난리가 나서 얼른 푼주(커다란 그릇)에 꽉 차게 송편을 담아왔대요. 왕비도 정치 때문에 몇 번 바꿨던 왕이라 그런지, 어제의 그 환상은 다 깨지고 허무해진 왕이 "푼주에 가득 담긴 송편을 다 먹으라니, 내가 돼지야?!"하고 벌컥 화를 냈다고 합니다ㅋㅋ
진짜 역사인지 그냥 이야기일 뿐인지는 모르겠지만, 물질적인 것보다 사람간의 정이 더 중요하다는 뜻으로 쓰여요.
한중일 뿐만아니라 미국에서도 비슷한 속담이 많은거 보면 사람 사는건 다 비슷한가봐요 진짜 ㅎㅎ
