Great vid! This game is an absolute masterpiece, I've put in nearly 1000 hours (and easily watched 1000+ too) and bought it on 3 devices, (and even gifted it to friends so they could play it!) and still never ever get bored of it. I love that there's so many ways to play it - Ascension climbing, ladder climbing, winstreaking, speedrunning, the plethora of custom modes and even the mods. A game that truly can be played forever, there's simply no mastering this game which makes it one you can always return to. Been playing the game almost daily for years and I still can't quite believe the masterful balancing act that it is, no matter how many clones and copies there are of it, nothing will quite be as good as this.
There's no denying it's the best in class. I recently tried Dicey Dungeon and enjoyed it - I think that's special in its own way, but nothing compares to this. What other games do you recommend?
@@RoyMcCoy It's funny, I played Dicey Dungeons first and absolutely loved it, randomly bought it one night because I saw NorthernLion play it and played it all night, then I got Spire because it seemed similar and heard good things, then tried to play Dicey afterwards and Spire had completely ruined it for me, its fun but very lacking in depth and balance (much more luck dependant) comparatively. I haven't played too many similar games apart from Monster Train, which was also good, but didn't interest me for more than 10-15 hours - it's more tower defence, but is pretty fun to check out - recommend picking it up during a sale. For other Roguelikes/lites I personally have had a ton of enjoyment from Enter the Gungeon and Hades - fantastic games, very mechanically challenging too!
I know I’m a bit late but I’ve been hooked on it and currently have it on 3 platforms. I’ve probably done hundreds of runs because I’m fairly new to the game, and I’ve only won a single run. But it’s just so addicting! I definitely share these sentiments
I feel like I'm missing something about this game. Its held as a golden standard and there is depth and fun to be had with the deck building but I've beat it with two different characters inside of my first 4 runs. Is there no progressive difficulty?
slay the spire came out of nowhere on release and quickly became one of the greatest roguelikes of all time with so much influence that it basically single-handedly popularized single player deck builders as a genre. love this game.
I discovered this game in 2024 and from past few days I’ve sunk hours and hours on this even without realising that something even AAA games can’t do these days.
The game itself isn’t much of a visual spectacle but the gameplay mechanics are simply phenomenal. Each move is almost like a puzzle where you’re tilting things in your favor as much as possible. It makes you realize how the basics are the core of any experience.
Just started this game last night cuz it's currently 66% off on steam. I opened it up and literally my entire evening just disappeared. Played a few runs, looked at the clock and days had passed. Weeks. Months.
Just beat it on my 5th overall run with the silent, hit the mindblow to upgrade all cards with no healing allowed then next room was a portal to the boss, it felt lucky but the final battle was still tight and I'm sure I wasn't playing perfectly but it felt great.
I got close to the end on my first run with silent and ninja, and actually beat the game on my first run with robot. I love all three characters and utterly despise the knight
While you can’t get the she deck over and over I do like how you they tailor the character with only 2/3 styles Personally I really only use the ironclad and the silent since I don’t understand the android and still haven’t gif the fourth guy but those 2 have 2 major Garbo jams you can use Personally for the ironclad I tend to prefer the stacking if free cards over the all out attack method while fir the silent shivs basically run my fake with some back up poison for passive (my favourite though I much prefer the iron class starter relic
Do you mean the Star Wars CCG by Decipher? I loved that one, sad when wizards got the rights and just shat the bed on it. It'll always have a special place in my heart
Sine the game is so short the problem I run into is, when the cards you are looking don drop and the game's rng is awful....its great, but the car rotation can be the reason you die. I need to block to not die, game gives me nothing but attacks...happens...ALL the time.
I’m new to the game, but I think it’s possible to consistently get the cards you need by balancing your deck. If you choose too many attacks in the beginning, your run will end because with enemies and turns you will need to block in, you will take fatal damage.
Despite you having ~2k subs less than some other TH-camr who posted a review on StS, your review is far superior, considering the flow of your video, footage and your ability to actually speak English that is understandable without subtitles.
Just started playing this game, fantastic game. The depth is immense and it is a perfect pick up and play game, I have it on 3 devices and play at home and on my phone when travelling etc. genius game.
"Whatever an .EXE file is." 🤣 Still, welcome to the glorious world of PC gaming. Best sale prices & largest game library spanning literally decades. Plus console emulation etc.
Just looked this up because people keep recommending this to me but as someone who is more into action-adventure like games: This honestly looks boring af. I really need something new to play right now and it's probably well explained here... AND it is on sale at the moment. But I guess you really have to have a thing for these kind of games.
Lmao brutal. Fair, though. It's hard to put pen to paper and ignore the desire to flex those writing muscles, but remember, we're all the same. I store urine in my balls just like the next guy.
@@u2musicforpeace To clarify, I didn't mean he's dumb, I meant he focuses too much on the delivery. I'm more interested in people's ideas, not in how they sound.
You're being foolish. He was never being poetic. He was only talking about emotions. If that makes you uncomfortable, then you're the problem. You can't analyze the quality of these games without talking about emotions and feelings. We play them because of how they make us feel. If you cringe when people talk about their emotions in analysis like this, then you're simply ignorant.
Hey guys! This game was amazing - and reminded me of FTL: th-cam.com/video/P66-U3pDxN4/w-d-xo.html - What are some other indie games I should play?
Into the Breach!

I recommend you Mystery Dungeon
So who the heck are the devs who designed it??
Just tell your friends to play just 1 battle. Then they're hooked. Such a great game
Yeah - I think that's all it took me - one game, and I was hooked... felt like 'first one is for free... after that...' I LOVE THIS GAME!!!
The only review I've seen of my favourite game of all time that actually has some semblance of depth to what is being said. Well done.
I've owned the game for ages and only tried it for the first time the other day, and my first session lasted 10 hours. This game is fantastic.
Progression in Slay the Spire is realizing Corruption is one of the best cards in the game.
Finally taking a chance on snecko eye
There aren’t many games I would call a masterpiece but this is certainly one!
I appreciate passionate reviews like this, thanks bro
blessed game
blessed video
blessed comment
This comment is much appreciated!!! Thanks!!

Roy to be honest I recently played it on Android phone and didn't know it was a PC game.
keep up the npc behaviour king ┗|`O′|┛
It's so good - right?! Yeah - this game is everywhere! ahaha

Real question, did you get to A20 yet? And the *secret* ending?

comparing an indie TBS rougelike to an Open world AAA game is tone def and frankly, stupid. you just prefer one over the other.
What virus protection do you have on your pc?

The really odd thing about this game is that it feels satisfying even when you lose.
I played it on Gamepass first, then on PC with mods ended up buying it on Switch, best platform for this game in my opinion.
No best platform is the steamdeck for you but imo its the pc
Does this have permadeath?
It's roguelike so yes

Hell of a game..this masterpiece killing my will to finally start Elder Ring.
Another good card game is.. Inscription
LMAO at the virus protection. imo it is not your fault. something is wrong with the virus protection OR with the game if it is detected as a virus
