Abortion or not, I don't think selfish people should have children. Shelley dodged a bullet by not being raised by Norma. Norma sounds like a narcissist. I'm glad Shelley can keep her privacy, her opinion on abortion is personal, leave her alone.

You see so much fighting for the right for someone to take a life but no fight for personal responsibility. This is ultimately a cultural issue of promiscuity. We can't blame a government or state becuase of a lack of self control. I think the public and state should ultimately decided and if someone disagrees then they can move to a state that does. If refugees from South America can escape war make it to our country and become a part of our union then a promiscuous women can move to a state where they can abort at their leisure. Makes no sense that the federal government has to proceed over something so personal, it makes more sense to allow the people to make their individual choices as republics.

If this was truly about reducing the number of abortions, they would be arresting men who are pregnant eating women that are not their wives.
They would be enforcing vasectomy on boys before they're old enough to impregnate women, and then only allowing them to reduce that vasectomy when they're capable paying for a child to grow up.

    • @LibbyRal

How does that put it in perspective any more than any other adoption? That choice has always existed before Roe. At least for the baby. Single mothers who might have wanted to keep their child had no choice. Being single and pregnant branded them as sluts. They weren't allowed a choice, just like women who didn't want to have a baby had no choice. If you want perspective, talk to a woman who was spared having an unwanted child that would have altered the trajectory of her life. Then acknowledge that making such a choice doesn't deserve your judgement.

Don't call yourself pro-life when all you see in living breathing humans are something to take advantage of. Little fetuses never make demands of you. @@bcm9610 Like I've often said - stupidest argument ever. First of all, I wouldn't have known the difference. According to your beliefs, I would have landed in heaven, so I don't see a down side. But my mother never had a choice as to whether or not to abort me or even raise me herself. She was a very young teen, sent away in shame, forced to carry the result of a statutory rape, then returned to the same environment with the rapist. Rinse. Repeat. She spent her pregnancies in an institution that labeled her a sinner. The back of my head is flat because I spent the months waiting to be adopted, neglected, left laying on my back. It's called plagiocephaly. The women at the institution never received proper natal care and my life has been a constant health struggle due to that. So just like the misleading photos of perfect babies in the womb, the advice to 'do your nine' and everyone lives happily ever after is selfish bullshit, forcing unscientific religious beliefs on society with no thought to the consequences.

I'm kind of surprised at how mad Shelley seems to be at Norma. Of course I've never been in her position, so I can't judge. I guess she's mad that Norma wanted an abortion. But she should just be happy that she was placed for adoption and adopted by loving parents. Norma was a confused woman and was probably trying her best to do whatever she thought was right at the time.

it’s funny how people think pro-choice isn’t an equal option. pro-choice isn’t pro-abortion, and if it was, that doesn’t mean killing babies, nor is it fun. pro-choice is the right to chose. I don’t understand these people saying “I think it should be equal, I want everyone to be happy. It’s not for me personally but I feel like people should have the right to chose.. but I’m not pro-life or pro-choice” like sis you’re literally pro-choice

These word games are so tiring. Please tell me what "choice" does the pro-choice movement advocate for that pro-life doesn't? It's direct abortion, plain and simple. The pro-life movement stresses actual alternatives for mothers, like adoption or seeking help from charities to provide food, medical appointments, and overall support. All of the money from pro-choice organizations goes towards Planned Parenthood or helping to provide abortifacients to women in other ways, it only goes towards more abortions, more death.
Killing a child should never be a "choice." It's not a choice that anyone ever needs to make, otherwise we're no better than the Romans leaving unwanted newborns on a hill waiting for wolves to eat them. "Equal" in this scenario would be everyone acknowledging that the mother and the child in the womb have equal human rights, namely the right to life.

"The unborn" are a convenient group of people to advocate for. They never make demands of you; they are morally uncomplicated, unlike orphans, they don't need money, education, or childcare; they allow you to feel good about yourself without any work at creating or maintaining relationships; and when they are born, you can forget about them, because they cease to be unborn. It's almost as if, by being born, they have died to you. You can love the unborn and advocate for them without substantially challenging your own wealth, power, or privilege, without re-imagining social structures, apologizing, or making reparations to anyone. They are, in short, the perfect people to love if you want to claim you love Jesus but actually dislike people who breathe.
