    This is a great way to remove spots. The dish soap could attract dirt, but if you use a tablespoon of vinegar to two cups of warm water to rinse the cleaning solution out, that will help remove the soap

      I love your idea of using the vinegar solution to rinse! Thank you so much for sharing that tip! I’m so thankful you commented with your thoughts! 💕

      Yep. And if you have a shop vac / wet/dry vac, you can suck the water out of the carpet.

      What do u mean rinse? So after scrubbing with the solution in the video, go back with vinegar/water solution?

    • @bcrawsh
      @bcrawsh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I think you really need a wet extraction to remove the soap scum. I have a machine that rinses and extracts (Hoover) or you can wet the spot with clear water and a shop vac without the filter. Otherwise, the spot will come back and will be worse.

      Yes too much soap. Soap attracts dirt back to the area.

    Just a tip, I see you have hardware floors under that runner, may I highly recommend that you put an absorbent towel under the stain before treating. This is for 2 reasons, 1st it keeps the cleaner from warping your wood floor, 2nd it absorbs the stain as it will bleed thru when u pour the cleaner solution

    I can see the ring of the former stain. The problem with using soap is it lathers and is impossible to fully remove. It also attracts more dirt. It is better to use a carpet solution for spot stains, or dilute the hydrogen peroxide, vinegar, or baking soda on an older carpet or area rug and skip the soap. I wouldn't mess around with expensive carpets. 🇨🇦

    1 cup water
    1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide

    • @LivingGratefully
      @LivingGratefully  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Thanks for watching and leaving me a question! I didn’t notice it being lighter in real life. And in the video when I swipe my hand over it looks like darker threads come up (like it does with most carpet when you swipe over it) so I don’t think it did. But if you are concerned about your carpet being lighter definitely test first! I don’t want anything bad to happen to your carpet :)

      @@LivingGratefully I tried this today! The floorboard of my car was already in need of trying something and I spilled my strawberry frappucino all over the floorboard that was already in need of some TLC, now lets add some strawberry puree on top of it! I immediately remembered your video and got the stuff. Only thing I did different was I used the blue Palmolive with Oxy and I did use the spray bottle. Every thing else was exactly like your video. IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM! I started looking around the house for other spots to use it on! Those who try to say this solution does not work may have not made the solution properly or maybe way trying to use it as paint remover...ALTHOUGH, I am not above trying it for that purpose as well. THIS WORKS for strawberry puree and shoe scum on the floor board of a car! The only elbow grease required is in the blotting process, unless your entire carpet is atrocious, in which case you probably need to use a steam cleaner or replace the darn tootin' thing all together!

    From my professional carpet cleaning opinion, If u don’t remove the soap from the carpet it will make the stain worse over time. Definitely need to use some water and a shop vac to remove as much soap from carpet as possible.

    Underneath that carpet you probably have water stained wood floor. Also, think of washing dishes with Dawn, then drying them without rinsing. That's your carpet. Putting 1/3 less liquid down, follow same steps, then pour water on a few times after and wipe up. Follow with a wetvac (every household should have one) to pull the remaining heavy water out. Lastly, put fan down.

    Here's how to remove bleach stains from carpet:
    Mix 4 cups of warm water with 2 tbsp of white vinegar dip a sponge in the solution dab at the stain until it's generously soaked with the solution leave it for 5 minutes rub with a new sponge soaked in water rinse with cold water and blot dry (Note: it may take 2-3 tries before the stain disappears)
    Hope was helpful please let me know how it works🙂
