@@slorgs Like the video. From my bit of nerdom on the topic and playing games featuring the AS VAL, your best use of it is behind enemy lines in close quarters environments like buildings/towns/cities, the other use, as is stated by the name is as a Scout, alongside a proper sniper. Sniper sets up on a good distant location overwatching target area of enemies, you as the scout go in close quarters, relay information to the sniper and/or start causing chaos yourself with guerilla tactics. If you're communicating and working alongside your sniper, you can even heard them into a killzone for your sniper to clean up. Also taking out Logistics with your DMR/Sniper buddy, or taking said logistics vehicles to safely get further behind enemy lines. I would love to see you try out the tactics with the AS VAL.
@nedbigby9694 it's an interesting tactic for sure, but I'd say it's near impossible to pull this off. Sniper requires an 8 man squad. I'd have to take two players out of a full infantry squad to run a separate 2 man into heavily contested enemy areas and then somehow not die as the scout. It's a cool idea, in this game, I'd argue completely pointless
As val is the only lone wolf class. It only works if you aren't near your team so the enemy has no idea where you are shooting from. It is very powerful if used correctly
But that would entail planning to be alone since you can’t just switch mid life which would be pointless and have zero effect in the game that squad is so again it is useless
@@ngonzales3781 sending the scout and engineer to just cause chaos can sometimes really mess up enemy teams. People don't really notice sometimes that they've taken out 40+ tickets by digging radios and damaging enemy vehicles. The most important thing here is that you are playing a support role, which is limited to 3 people, and instead of playing an anti-tank role, you are a guy with an AS-VAL.

If I remember correctly, the VAL was designed to be used by special forces as a close range marksman weapon in heavily wooded or urban environments. Basically, it's precise enough that you can reliably hit people size targets center mass out to 200ish meters quietly but you have a giggle switch incase you need to spray down a small cluster of people or things get really shitty.
The 9x39mm round from the Val is "meant" to be be hyper-effective against body armour, at least IRL and in some more ballistically realistic games like modded ArmA. "30 layers of Kevlar at 200 meters...", "At 100 meters it can penetrate 8 mm (0.31 in) of steel or GOST 3 rated body armor, while retaining enough power to inflict damage to a soft target behind it." But who knows how (or even if) OWI have modelled it.
The Val would be more interesting and useful if it had the option for a magnified scope and larger mag for the unmaginified scope variant. The gun should at least have a higher fire rate and be more quiet iirc; there are probably other changes that could be implemented too. Even after factoring in ICO's changes, the Val in particular feels hard to control, so maybe the deviation when shooting could be reduced somewhat. I think a cool idea for the scout as a class would be to allow it to mark targets for the team like a fireteam leader, but it wouldn't need to have a fireteam lead role. Also, any sort of utility that would fit well with the scout class would be nice.
Val is a gun used mostly be spetznaz for urban environments that CAN be used at medium range. Ideally you’d use an ak but a val will work. Give the val more base damage. In game it has the same damage stats as an ak74. It’s 9x39ffs. 300 blackout type of round. If they make it have ak damage at med range and like 1 shot body shot at super close range this kit would be useful.
I'd say the scout is best utilized by someone who's gonna a lone wolf, going behind enemy lines, and calling out information for SL's. Since the ASVAL doesn't make a huge sound signature it's great for sneaking around and taking out enemies that happen to come across you
The main problem is the val is so inacurate you have to be close enough to where the supressor doesn't do anything but you only get 20rnd so you cant effectively fight in cqb. You move fast and quiet but you only get 7 mags and no ammo so you dont have sustain to go for flanks. If you nontheless sneake behind enemy lines you dont have nades or anything to disrupt the enemies. The kit could be good but its nerfing itself.
Give it more base damage and give it decent damage drop. It’s 9x39 ffs. It’s roughly equivalent to shooting 300 blackout. Not 5.45. In game it has identical damage stats to the ak74 which is a load of bull. The val was designed to be a cqb menace hence using 9x39
It may be pointless but I'm ok with people taking it. Forcing someone to play something they don't want to is a quick way to make them combat ineffective, frustrated and prone to leaving. this was a nice video.
this guy did better than he does on average with any class and says it's doo doo
If this had the Original PSO 4x24 -1, this class could be "Fun" and still be useless.
On supermod this reigns dupreme!
SCOPE making it a real sniper.
Even silenter noone finds u
Grenades
I’m a shotgun afficionado but when we get wagner i main this baby
This should be available only in a recon squad
Bro hasn’t used the Turkey smg class 😂
Well at least there's more of a difference between their main rifle and the smg, not to mention the fact that the Jandarma kit at least gets grenades
I did think about that class as well as a contender for most useless but the smg did actually get a buff a patch or 2 ago and an smg has a much more clearly defined role than the as val
@@slorgsrecoil on SMGs is still abysmal and damage is dogshit. Only smg that works is the ppsh, and only within 5m
This is why I play modded servers you get cool guns with good kits
I like my pew pew pssh pssh guns as much as the next guy but the scouts should not be in the same category as AT and autorifle men.
Seems like it could have a usefull role with at least a 4x or 6x scope though?
Wish the AS VAL class had a singular grenade :(
I usually use the AS VAL during seeding or when I just want to be a rat :]
4:30 *miss*miss*miss* "Wow, this might actually be the worst gun in the game"
Lmao
Toss a scope on it...class fixed
For some reason i get the most kills with the val out of all weapons in the game. I especially like it on GE with the PSO scope
after watching the vid defo a VSS would be more useful but if your amongst unsuppressed friendlies yeah that Val is basically pointless, if you was lone wolf on the flanks of enemy reporting enemy positions in a ghille suit with PSO scoped VSS that'd be more effective.
Youre supposed to go Hab hunting and get in the backlines with it.
I like having one. I send them to actually scout. If theyre not a complete idiot they mark up postitions before going rambo
I don’t see any reason for Scout to be a fire support class, it should really be a limited squad role like the Raider.
This role and the turkish smg role have to be the most useless roles in the game AS val is a bb gun and the smg is an airsoft gun
This class has only one effective use - camping enemy habs.
its a scout first in first out they call in target movement and such
I think it hides the flashing of the shots.
if so its very useful, because I guide my shots against flashes on the screen XD
Most фофан, guys, most фофан!
As val should be in the riflemen category
It needs a PSO
A very silent AS VAL with a nice scope in vanilla Squad? Useless?
Scopless Mossin Nagant would like to have a word.
If that is the most useless class then it is still pretty good! And you cant semi-auto with it either…
Bruh, slorgs farming controversial takes XD I luuurvvvee the AS-VAL. It's the best close quarters weapon in the game. I win 9 out of 10 times in buildings and around bushes and almost always manage to flank targets because even though "the silencer does nothing" it's sound it unique enough that in firefights enemies don't register it as enemy gunfire ^^ also FYI the power of the AS-VAL is in it's full-auto fire.
during seed its such a fun weapon to use
squad has no content hes gotta find something to talk about haha
Gleeb snorp glib glop
Killed 3 times through the walls
