- Have you ever wondered what it would be like to become an antiques dealer? This is a typical day in my life when I am working a car boot sale. Not all antique dealers have this lifestyle but I can say with some certainty that the dealers who work the car boot sale circuit do.
This video shows you just how hard it is but I tell you what it is amazing fun.

Nice thing about working for yourself is that YOU can choose which 14 hours a day you work.
The boy is called the manneken pis. My mother is Belgian and that's her favourite statue - for some reason!

In my opinion those two turtles and the vase are modernish. They produce hundreds of thousands of such bronzes and they look a little bit clumsy for genuine period pieces. Ditto for the vase.
Another slight warning sign from that dealer "I took it to an auction house the other day, the guy was an expert and said it was at least 200 years old..." 10 secs and a very good question later. "Oh the expert wasn't in." Never fall for the whole "This could be worth an absolute fortune but I'm broke/too lazy/can't find anything about it." trick. People know about Chinese antiques, especially dealers, if there was half a chance of them being worth anything, they would not be offering it for sale in the car boot sale.
Well, it's a hard life to be an antique dealer, dad and almost husband. Great to see old times come back with Sandra and yourself on the 'hunt'. It is a long time ago I saw these kind video's of you two. Well done Walter. Greetings Stan.
The Wedgwood factory was, and still is, at Barlaston, a village to the south of Stoke on Trent. They have a great museum there is you're ever in the area.
