Kinda ironic, actually... You pass through "death" and "the end of all things"... ...dark forest... ...a friendly campfire... ...and then find all your friends... ...one final song... ...okay now I'm crying again.
Outer Wilds has such a great score! Love your take on this. I'm always amazed by your ability to play multiple instruments so well and am so happy to see piano added to the list more and more. It's truly impressive. Well done.
Thanks so much Daniel! The OW OST is just perfection :o Thankfully a lot of the skills between stringed instruments is transferable but others are a bit more work getting used to Absolutely fallen in love with playing piano. just have to practice a lot more!
I think that there's definitely something up with the ocarina and the guitar (which I didn't actually know you could use a bow with, that's really cool!), but aside from the flat(?) tuning issues, this is great! There really isn't enough Outer Wilds content out there, so having this cross my recommended really made my day! My favorite part has got to be when the piano comes in, that brings everything together amazingly. Also, I see a bunch of comments about the tuning, my own included, but we're not the ones who know how to play at least 7(?) instruments, that is seriously beyond impressive.
I think it's great how you can still hear the banjo the best through everything else, because the banjo is like the main instrument in the game, you can hear the banjo almost everywhere in the game.
I'm revisiting this having FINALLY gotten around to Outer Wilds (if I don't FINALLY complete the last loop tonight, I might actually eject myself into space). This soundtrack is just as special as the game, and your penchant to layering instruments lends itself to "Travelers" perfectly. Really excellent!
To the people pointing out stuff being out of tune, the original version was meant to be played by space travellers who were 1; not professional musicians, and 2; on different fuckin planets It's probably more accurate that some of it doesn't quite match up, I feel it adds a little authenticity to it ^^
I was about to click off then the kalimba grabbed me by the hand and sat me back down but seriously I always love outer wilds music keep at it man you're doing better than I could ever
Yeah, I heard the ocarina and I read the comments about it. The "I couldn't watch" one made me wanna say that the video is amazing, the effort to make something like this is crazy and you should be rewarded, for real!
yeah, I had to switch to headphones to make sure it wasnt just shitty laptop speakers. The ocarina has got harmonic overtones completely out of tune, i think some of the instruments and pitched a few cents differently too. it's really jarring
how do you tune an ocarina i would like to know cause i think you have to change the size of the holes, correct? also i think his kalimba is out of tune as well
I'm not sure anymore when something is called accoustic so don't know if electric guitars count. But then it's accoustic with a grain of salt. Don't want to critisize your work tho, it sounds very pretty. Feels like multiple musicians laying down in a field watching the stars. Especially like how you've used melodica.
Great work, nicely done :) I would have liked to hear the original melody at a slightly lower volume in the second half, especially once the piano comes in, but still super effective and makes me want to experience the game all over again.
Hey! All the audio was recorded in Reaper which is a mostly free to use DAW/recording software. And I used Adobe Premire Pro to make the video. If you need any more info let me know!
I... don't know why but your cover doesn't sound right to me for some reason. My guess would be something's out of tune but I don't know what. That said Solanum's piano part still sounded great.
This cover is up on Spotify now too! So if you want to stream it that'd be appreciated
Amazing, I could listen to this for 22 minutes
And then watch it over and over again
Well that's weird... Feels like I just did this...
22? Heh I can listen to this for my entire life span
Or as we like to call it... all the time in the world.
And then over and over
i love this. especially when everything comes together in the end.
Thanks so much Andrew! It took a while till I was happy with everything so glad you approve of my take on it :D
This is possibly my favorite game soundtrack of all time. You created something beautiful. Thank you.
THE MAN THE MUSIC LEGEND THEMS3LF
thank you for making music for a game that keeps my hopes high for 2020
@Cherry I KNOW!
ANDREEEEEEEEEEW
I finished Outer Wilds over 4 months ago, and I still can't get it out of my head. This game deserves so much more attention.
no game makes better use of the medium imo, like watchmen to comic books
I like the whistling part... oh wait, that's me! Great job with the cover :)
Aha afraid I wasn't good enough to pull of the whistling part so used kalimba instead! Thanks though!
Admittedly I sort of dislike the whistling of the original since I feel like my own whistling is a little better. So good anyway, obviously.
@@fissionphoenix4995lol, I think it’s not meant to be the best in the original because it feels more homely and natural
It doesn't matter if I've heard it 100 times, performed by 100 different artists, they are always beautiful. And they are like unique.
Magical.
Mixing up the instruments gives this its own vibe while still feeling in the spirit of outer wilds, love it.
dude I swear this song is like the embodiment of heaven
Yeah

If you pay close attention in the game there is a piano like instrument in the original song if you know where to look ;)
I started whistling along about halfway through and I got chills
I think that there's definitely something up with the ocarina and the guitar (which I didn't actually know you could use a bow with, that's really cool!), but aside from the flat(?) tuning issues, this is great! There are 16 Instruments in this video.
"I can only see 15 Instruments where's the last one?"
"Your whistling"
I think it's great how you can still hear the banjo the best through everything else, because the banjo is like the main instrument in the game, you can hear the banjo almost everywhere in the game.
I like how Kain has at least 3 different hair styles for this video
I've got a stupid amount of hair that I can do a lot with and filming takes time!
Must've taken quite a few loops then :)

I love when solanum's part comes in
same ! I just hum it along during the whole song until it comes in XD
Thank you Kain you are pure spirit. You make me cry so hard. I love this cover so far.
Awh thank you so much!
This would be a perfect one for Soundole contest, beautiful and super chill relaxing :)
I could listen this for 14.3 billion years
I was about to click off then the kalimba grabbed me by the hand and sat me back down but seriously I always love outer wilds music keep at it man you're doing better than I could ever
That's a creative way to get that low wind instrument sound for Gabbro.
This is amazing, how are you not 100x more popular???
Yeah, I heard the ocarina and I read the comments about it. The "I couldn't watch" one made me wanna say that the video is amazing, the effort to make something like this is crazy and you should be rewarded, for real!
lovely
SO. MANY.INSTRUMENTS.
And I love it! Great job once again!
Amazing, i love this song, i'm not crying
This was really nice :)
No feeling matched that last ham session with your friends as the universe came to an end
Amazing...
Merci
My favorite music, thanks for doing this cover, it is awesome!
I'm here before this guys becomes a legend, what an honor
Great cover, so many different instruments, loved it.
LOVE IT!
i think your ocarina is out of tune bro, otherwise really great cover
yeah, I had to switch to headphones to make sure it wasnt just shitty laptop speakers. The ocarina has got harmonic overtones completely out of tune, i think some of the instruments and pitched a few cents differently too. it's really jarring
Good to hear I'm not going crazy here .-.
THX, I were feeling very uncomfortable with some instrument and I suspected that was it
how do you tune an ocarina i would like to know cause i think you have to change the size of the holes, correct?
also i think his kalimba is out of tune as well
I couldn’t watch it after 0:44 because it hurt my ears so bad
So underrated, this cover is perfect !
beautiful
Lindo demais
Very nice man,i very loved this cover.
nice
Thanks!
there's no way to dislike this, it's lovely
I really like the minimalistic aspect of the original, but this rocks too, awesome work
Wow. Just. Wow. Omg this is really amazing.
Thanks man!
Beautiful work, this feels so at home with your instrumentation!
You really deserve more attention. Keep up the awesome work :)
that's nice
omg this is so good. thank u for the cover i love it

Aha that's a fair point! Still mostly acoustic though so it fit better for the title :P
This is like the song that I'd want in my version of heaven, bro, truly mystical 😍😍
Awh thanks so much!
That was beautiful, congratulations 👏🏼❤
This deserves more views!
Great work, nicely done :) I would have liked to hear the original melody at a slightly lower volume in the second half, especially once the piano comes in, but still super effective and makes me want to experience the game all over again.
Thank you! Yeah that's totally fair, trying get the volume balanced when there's so many layers can be a nightmare
perfect
😍 stahhhp this is the best thing!
I agree, random person I don't know
@@Jake-lh5xd Thanks to both of you then!
Awesome.
Cheers!
Incredible! I wish I could listen to this on loop
Thank you! :D
If you're on a browser you can right click the video to loop it!
Just wait for 22 minutes and you'll be good
Is it even possible to tune an ocarina?
You are amazing
I love this!! 🎶🎶
Appreciated :D
This really need more likes
You are awesome
This is beautiful!
Out of curiosity, are you planning on doing a new version for Echos of the Eye?
I'm not going to do a new version of Travelers but I'm considering a cover of either River's End or Echoes of the Eye, not sure which yet!
Chorei
👏👏👏👏
how many instrument do you have?
kain: yes.
Ah, nostalgia and sadness. :(
te amo
I hope there are beasties in the next one.
Next upload should hopefully be an original song! That or Castlevania
❤👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Would love to see chords for the banjo
shit... that is hard
does anyone know what program he could of used to make this? Thanks!
Hey! All the audio was recorded in Reaper which is a mostly free to use DAW/recording software.

If you need any more info let me know!
Dude thank you so much. Love the cover
What did you use to edit the video. Was the adobe premire pro. Sorry I am new at this
dag nabb that was great man
Thanks so much!
Did he just play the guitar with a bow?
The tuning for the banjo would be greatly appreciated.
GCGBD
Or for four strings CGBD. So just drop the D to C so it's easier to play that main riff
@@KainWhiteMusic Oh my god dude, thank you.
I'm just starting out, and I haven't been able to find any tabs for it online.
banjo notes please
I... don't know why but your cover doesn't sound right to me for some reason. My guess would be something's out of tune but I don't know what. That said Solanum's piano part still sounded great.
I feel like it was the way he did Gabbro's instrument. I think the ocarina was out of tune. The Harmonica seemed a bit weird too.
@@mattomo6825 its that and the kalimba
@@mattomo6825 take those two out and this thing is getting spot on
yes, the third and fourth instruments, i tried to let it go, but i couldn't hehee
I record all the instruments at home in a small room. It may not be perfect or accurate but it's my take on a song that I liked.
wonderful
btw, nice hair :)
Aha thank you Sans from Undertale
@@KainWhiteMusic lol
I love this except for one thing, it felt like the ocarina was out of tune, it seemed to represent Gabbro's part, but it didn't sound quite right
If you look closer, they are actually the same person
I didn't think anybody would notice
Uhhm...does bow and guitar really makes a cello?
Sir, are you aware your room is on fire?
Thank you
melodica gang
Not bad
lerolerolerolelelerolerolarereira
I'd really love to hear this with the dlc part added
I have started work on a new updated version but it may be a little while before I can get that out!
Weirdly accurate electric guitar for a certaim traveller
Nice cover! But i'm pretty sure your bass or ocarina were out of tune.
:)
I like this arrangement, but, erm, a couple of these instruments might need tuning.
The bowed bass throws it off a bit since it's pretty hard to get an in tune note playing it that way!
The ocarina and bass are way outta tune here
the flute is not right
... Am I the only one that hears that 90% of covers of this song are... HORRIBLY out of tune? Or is it just me?
Something in here is a little discordant
