Loving the videos...I've been playing with that technique of blocking out the upper 60% of the bare trunk that you showed on that Dead Mountain Ash video. Dropped out a 50' chunk yesterday...saved us some time and saved out some logs. Thanks

Impressive fell and very nice work! Just a question regarding the cuts on each side of the hinge to get the bark to stop peeling of and why they where placed so low and not higher up closer to the hinge?

patkarlsson i wanted to ask the same i normally put them above my buck my guess would be something to do with helping the hinge so it dont split away to fast but just a guess

If they are put close to the felling cuts they act like wing cuts. For our hardwoods here the control of the section being felled is strongest on the sides of the hinge. By making them about twice the diameter below their effect on the security of the hinge is reduced.
