I agree with Reg Coates when he suggested you put these excellent training videos on YT because you have a wealth of superb knowledge that would serve the arborist community well. I am standing and saluting you mate. Great content! I truly hope more of your videos are coming.
great video. new climbers should take note. As reg said you a true legend in our industry!! keep up the great work and will look forward to your next video!
Thanks so much for this video. Only been climbing for a few years and this had quite a bit of stuff that was new to me. Always great to feel like my knowledge is being rounded out.
I like that "give another pull and hold it". But previously to that, how about, before you tie the rope, you simply cut the notch before you tie it? Nice kookaburra at 4:21 BTW.
I have used this technique quite a few times, its great when you have a Groundy who is green. But as you said in the previous video...you have to use cheap poly rope! Put a couple of skid marks on my old rope. Ive even tied off my lowering rope to a stub before using the chop off post as a friction point. I wrap it round twice and pt a slip knot in it.
Really nice! Any ideas on incorporating more control to the climber when using blocks? I like the idea that the climber takes the rope and let the groundie handle the limb, have used that a couple of times.
Using the friction at the point of cut enables the climber to take control and free up a ground person to lay the piece down. When I use a block unless the load is small I often use an additioal person on the ground. Using friction at the climbers position tends to consume time.
Fantastic video!:) Thanks Graham! Was just wondering How for so many years in the industry you have managed to climb using a normal prussik hitch?;) I absolutely love climbing on a prussik but i find after a while i start suffering from servere tennis elbow. Any tips? Thanks Mark

You can get a mini port a wrap,or I simply leave a 6-10" stub when I want to,set wraps aloft and control it

Been 43 years now. I use it for work positioning rather than ascending.
@@sherbrooketrees thanks. Mt tennis elbow is threatening to immobilise my arm. What techniques do you use to ascend please?

Hope all is well mate…still the master!….matt from eastern Ky 🇺🇸
Like it just been spoiled lowering got some gear. Good vid tho much respect.
Hello, do you generally use a clove hitch to tie to the branch that you are lowering? I've seen others use two half hitches and then a inline bowline?
Yes generally a clove hitch and one locking hitch for green limbs, 2 - 3 locking hitches for blocks and dead limbs
Love your videos!
Thanks
