The last video was installing and adjusting the time of the clock but somehow that video was removed? However, that may be possible as the customer has asked us to sell the clock for her since her husband passed away. Be watching for it sometime late November or early December if we end up with the clock. Thanks for watching The Bench Jeweler.
Hi Mike. Thanks for your help, the cuckoo has been running well for a few weeks now. Just trying to adjust pendulum to so it keeps correct time. Question: how do you tighten up the oak leaf on the stick? Over the years the stick has worn a bit in one area and the leaf just slips. I have a piece of card stock wedged in behind it so the leaf stays in place but there must be a more elegant solution.
For the time being the black metal tab on the back you can slip the weight off and bend the tabs just a bit so they grab better I trying to find a new pendulum stick I have 50 if I can find them. Mike E.
Back in the early 70's I went to Watching and Clock school in Ill, Three Year course which included diamond setting jewelry repair, and designing. It's a lost field not many going into the business.
Followed your videos for cleaning and oiling my 8 day Regula similar to yours. Clock won't run when I put it back together. Was keeping good time before but cuckoo would add an extra call now and again. When gently moving the crutch I noticed that sometimes the escape wheel doesn't advance and at other times it seems to catch. Pivots didn't seem to have any more play in them than what you first pointed out. Any tips to get it working again?
With the clock level on the wall when facing it start the pendulum and listen for a very even tick-tick-tick-tick. If it sounds like a tick-cluck it won't stay running. Tilt the clock either right or left and listen for and even tick-tick. If it starts running with it off to one side then your beat is off. Try this first.
@@rhjgold I can get an even tick-tick for only 10-15 beats. Mostly it just stops and pendulum slows. Sometimes it stops abruptly pendulum just "sticks".
When the pendulum slows down enough the escape wheel teeth can't clear the pallet fork and the fork hits the tooth of the escape wheel and stops it from running.
@@rhjgold So it would seem that there is a lack of power. Clock is probably 60 years old. Clockworks has a new movement for $169. May be time for transplant.
If it ran before you cleaned it stands to reason it should run after you cleaned and oiled it. can you take a couple of pictures of the back of the clock and send them to rhjgold@gmail.com Let's take a step or two first.
Thanks Good job
I would like to have seen the clock actually working after the service.
