Thanks so much! I’m a new student of Kyudo in Ohio, USA. This was very helpful.

I am Japanese and I didn't know how to wear Hakama, so thank you very much for your help.

Nice video, showing how to put on the uniform very clearly. One thing we do differently in my Kyudo club is that we first put on our tabi, and then the hakama, I think it's just because it's more convenient. I do struggle with washing my tabi - as much as I wash them, several times in a row even, they remain darkened and brownish in the lower part.

I came to this video to try and figure out how to tie the front but I find it basically impossible to distinguish the strings from the hakama

栗クリントンKurikurinton in masuda city. Shimane prefecture. I’m lucky enough to have someone give me private lessons because the rest of the club is 60+ year olds that already know what they are doing. But my teacher only speaks Japanese (I’m still learning) so it’s very slow and lots of just trying to do what he does.

栗クリントンKurikurinton could you do a video on how to fold and store them?

Yeah I got my start in my high school’s Kyudo club so I just learned with the first year students to get my start, then joined my city’s dojo a couple months in.
And yeah I can do a video on that no problem! My schools open back up this week, so my life is about to get a lot more busy at work, but I’ll get around to it as soon as I can!
But for now, a good way to keep them nice is to go to your nearest dollar store and get really huge hangers to drape them over so they don’t get all wrinkly! Lol there’s a special way to fold everything that I can do a video on as soon as I have the time. 😄

That’s okay. This is how I was taught to tie it by my teachers.
