KuriKurinton
Japan
栗きんとん (kurikinton) is the name of a delicious Japanese confectionery made from sweet chestnuts.
My name is Clinton, or as they call me in Japan where I live, (Kurinton).
Put the two together you have 栗クリントン (Kurikurinton), my nickname in Japan.
I live in Gifu Prefecture, the beating heart of Japan.
Join me as I navigate my life in the Japanese countryside,
as well as my progression through Japan's greatest martial art, 弓道 (kyudo; traditional longbow archery).

Here was our submission for the 48hr film project Los Angeles in the year 2015. The genre we were given was horror. Not really my forte, but we had fun with it.

This was a film my friends and I made during our time at community college back in 2014 for the 48hr film project in Los Angeles. We were given the genre "fish out of water" which was a joy to work with. It was our first time participating in a challenge like this, so imagine our surprise when our film won all the major awards for that year: - Best Film - Best Director - Best Screenplay - Grand...

Completed back in 2016, this was my undergraduate thesis film for the directing track of UCLA's School of Theater, Film, and Television. The film won Best Cinematography at the UCLA film showcase 2016, and went on to screen at NFFTY in Seattle, and Santa Fe Film Festival in New Mexico.
Le Coureur (Hand Edited 16mm Short Film)

This was my UCLA Film School project for my intro to cinematography class. The project was to shoot and edit a 2 minute short film on 16mm motion picture film. Then we had to edit the film by hand, splicing together the film on old flat bed machines. It was a nightmare.

Good luck mate✌️
I wouldn't call that a weapon, it's a dis-service to the art and the sport. Do you use it to unalive any living beings? Are you even pulling 45lb? Shame on you! Some of us are being kicked out of our homes, again and again, because people like you wont stop speaking of these things as such! And you think you're funny too! While they confiscated things like my billiard cue bridge and forehead flashlight, they ignored a chainsaw, electric table saw, and a hammer, which by the way, is the number 1 murder weapon used in the USA. Please, I beg you, stop it. It's not funny.
Eu gosto muito do Kyudo! É tão legal o Tsurene! 😸
I love train two

Hi! fellow practitioner from Chile. I got a question, if you don't mind. what would you say was the determining factor or difference between the first attempt and the second one? the atari? Thank you so much for your content!
I’m an archer myself and I find this very fascinating 🏹
Kyudo... where hitting the target is not the point... or so the archers say...
ODENNNNNNN
also i’d cut off a limb if it meant i could have bistroman year round
Very useful video thanks
damn, i'm rooting for you !! Our sensei keeps telling us "your left fist needs to punch the mato when hanare happens, go through it !!" He actually brought us mato and made us assume kai position and punch through some mato that he was holding against our hand to illustrate what he was saying, it works for him and for those of us trying to follow his teaching 😉 Good luck !!!
Hang in there and keep plugging away. 5-dan is a tough challenge…but you’ll get there in the end. It might sound a bit sententious, but remember that the value of a dan promotion isn’t in the passing grade, but in the efforts you make along the way to get there…so from that standpoint, all these failed attempts are doing you good, making you stronger. Good luck on your next attempt!
So thrilling! Don't stop ^^
look at your eyes in hanare...
It's a high level, keep going ! The journey is it's own reward, isn'it ? ;)
Keep going!
You'll get it man, keep going 🔥

Very detailed video. It was my first time changing a bowstring and this video was very helpful. Thank you very much.🙇♂🏹
Was wondering if all the shooters in this video agreed to being filmed and having the video uploaded…
me too 😄 maybe there is some waver people sign when they agree to part take or something, i know my club makes every member sign a paper to agree about video and pictures being use for promotional purpose.
Thank you very much for such detailed video, for the first time today I've pepared my first new string following your instructions.
You get better every time!! Keep going!
I just tried "Shodan" (waiting for the result), and it requires already a lot of implication. This 5th Level you attempt to reach is a very beautiful aim...
You seemed rather nervous this time compared to the previous one. At least the Dojo was bigger and the entry easier, but man, do you have bad luck when it comes to the person before you-you again got a person who was delaying everything for you. I hope you pass next time. The only thing I could note form-wise is that, IMHO, your right elbow was a touch too low when preparing the bow and arrow. Try ensuring a proper enso throughout the whole form.
beautifull but does not hit, sorry for you :( Did you keep the proper kiza stance the whole time or did you have to discretely flatten your feet while waiting? you were really stable and did not seem to be in too much pain :D i don't know what i would do if i was ochi for a shinsa, whenever i am it's very difficult to hold during sharei and recovering frmo the pain makes my shooting worst, probably elevated heartbeat or smthing :/
Sorry but no one of your tachi hits the mato. - Your sensei will tell you the reason. - Question: Is it ok for 5th dan to use no takeyumi? I make sure to shift my weight slightly forward (munewari) and avoid arching my back.
i'm not aware that bamboo bow is required for any dan, is it? One of the sensei i studied under is presenting 6th-renshi and if i recall correctly he told us that he does it with carbon fiber bow.
From daisan…..may I recommend that you critically review with a trusted sensei…..I do not hold myself as a teacher….and heaven forbid…as someone qualified to dish out advise…..but I have been keeping a close watch on your well presented videos …you are committed and deserve to do better…..my very best wishes
This is one of the aspects I also saw..my teacher made this observation on my shortcomings…but it took some 3 years for the penny to drop
Tough luck - i'm sure you will pass one of the next ones. For many of us, the videos of an unsuccessful Test are even more helpful, than a successful one. Thank you very much for sharing this! 💪🔥

“I missed my second one too? Awesome!” got me cracking up

Your commentary made my day. The juxtaposition of your fun commentary vs your composed focus during the actual shots gave me a great laugh.
Your form is very good though.😂
nothing to lose, and yet all was lost 🥲 (just kidding you did great)
Hilarious timing in narration 🤣 .... As a kyudoka, I totally feel you! 🇨🇭
Thank you! Also, do you do kyudo in Switzerland??🇨🇭
@@kurikurinton Yes, there are 13 Dojos in Switzerland with over 150 Members in the swiss kyudo federation 🔥💪 And most european countries have their own federation too...
That's amazing! I'm actually a Swiss citizen! My father was born and raised near Spiez! I'd love to practice kyudo in Switzerland someday!
@@kurikurinton You're kidding? That's amazing! The spiez region is one of switzerlands touristic top spots. Do You still have relatives there to visit? Next time you're here - i'd be happy to arrange a visit in a Dojo nearby! 🤗
@@guidok.9975 it’s strange to say, but i don’t actually know if i have relatives in Switzerland anymore. i wish i knew though! do you have instagram? i’d love to chat with you about shooting in switzerland sometime! my insta is the same handle as my youtube
