I've got a Mk6 2005 swb ex police van, had it 5 years and it's the best van I've ever owned. My neighbor calls it triggers broom because of the amount of welding I've done underneath, I wouldn't drive anything else. They are such a nice place to be when driving and easy to fix when things go wrong, they really are king of the road.....
I was looking for a VW Transporter 4motion and now I drive a Ford Transit AWD. Have not regretted my decision yet. Space and overview are great! I think no other car can do better - thanks to that boxy design.
Finding ur videos very interesting. I currently have a 09 ranger wildtrak and as much as I love it iv run out of space in it. Was looking at the custom limited but not quite in budget. Sports are looking like a good option and ur vids are helping to sway me
@@coswecan got my eye on a couple. Really like them in blue (similar colour to the truck I have now). And it would look smart parked next to my big ford
stumbled at your videos a few times now, i love my transit as well i like the passion you have for yours, amazing vehicles, mine is a daily amazon mule with banded wheels and a tough remap Transits4eva !
I have always wanted to buy a transit van especially the box shape before 2013. Having gotten a job in building sites I will more than likely purchase one for my own business pretty soon especially the SWB Low roof
Well out of date comment here. Agree with the fun thing. I love my trackdays and stuff and they really are a dream to drive. Handle great, far greater than a van should in my eyes. I have an ex rac mk7, love it but it’s getting pretty rusty and haggard. But there’s literally nothing else that does the job to tow well, haul and immense to drive. Just now I need to make the decision to rectify all the problems or buy another. Prices are seriously silly now though! Had mine 5 years and paid £3k. 185000 miles on it now 😁.
Thanks for watching mate, appreciate it 🙏🏼 that is the big decision… I’ve gone too far now that I can’t stop 😂 they are great vans though! Hope you either get yours sorted or get a nice tidy nee one 🤪
Class video mate, looks like exactly what I'm after tbh. Do you know if those back seats can be clipped out canny easy? Just so I can haul people about if needed, but then if any of the lads need furniture etc moved I can quickly clip the seats out in 10 mins or so to fit in the extra storage or nah?
I’m looking at 1 with 150 k all the mot are clean just minor tyre stuff brakes etc tiny bit rust both sides on lower arch other than that looks good 2 owners 2012 model can see anything in the history about clutch or anything major what do you think on that ?
I'd love to see you do a mk7 SWB vs mk8 custom. I've driven both but honestly wouldn't be able to decide between them, mk8 is objectively better, really well damped & a great design, but the old boxy mk7 that is an extremely dated frame, is objectively worse, however they have such character, which adds to the enjoyment. I hate that I'm looking at a sport again, can get so much for your money in clean, ex-fleet 'trend' models for half as much as a sport :D
Thanks for watching firstly, really appreciate it! 💪🏻 You make some great points! My dad actually had a custom sport for a few years ( here’s a link to a video I did on it th-cam.com/video/5pTtYrhQ02c/w-d-xo.html ) it was a great van! Like you say though it did lack character, I didn’t think the looks were as aggressive and the van felt “narrower” from the back doors when loading stuff in! Yep you are right, it’s all personal preference, you can get a lot for the same money as a sport... but it’s not a transit sport then is it 🤣🤷🏻♂️😜 good luck with your search and I hope you get what’s best for you 👍🏻
@@coswecan Ah, that looks great, I just watched your vid of your dads current mk7 camper. That looks mega, really similar to what I'm wanting to do. I'm not sure with the physical size, when you actually park the mk7 & mk8 next to eachother there's really nothing in it, i.imgur.com/7eD2Wxk.png this was my bosses old pair, the boxier mk7 makes it look wider, but they really are near enough the same if I recall correctly, by the numbers the custom is actually slightly wider. As you say though, they both drive great. The Mk8 driving position is so good, I think the big windscreen makes the cab feel more roomy. But at the same time you just can't beat the feedback you get from the old style mk7, through the steering wheel & pedals, the mk8 has that over assisted brakes & 'detatched' steering feel that so many modern motors have.
My dad had a custom sport, if you have a look on my channel there’s a video on it I done a while back! Anyways he sold his and now is back to the MK7 sport! Me personally I also prefer the MK7 sport 🤪😁
The sport only comes in the 2.2 I believe, they look good in all the colours so many different combos you can go for! Thanks for watching man, hope you get your van 🚐 💪🏻
@@coswecan thanks bro but i gotta wait a while because i cannot get a drivers licence yet or a job, and i dont have more than 20€ to my name lol, hope you have a nice day with your pretty van
I soon hope im 2 years away from getting a job and hopefully i get a job at a local tire repair shop, if not then at another oil changing place ( i have no idea what they are called) and after that get a new job as a dealership mechanic, then become cheif of design and engeneering for BMW
Awesome van. How much do they go for and are they good for very steep hills? I want to take mine to Iceland to do a tour plus what is your exact van model number. Thanks for sharing this video
Hi mate big fan of the videos I once had a sport rep which was a nice van. Itching for a proper sport at the moment I've seen one for sale dark blue looks ok but the mileage is over 250,000 is this enough to leave it cheers bud Andy
Thanks andy really appreciate it! 💪🏻 Depends on the van tbh, need to ask the owner questions like has it had a new engine, what work of any has been carried out on the engine if not? What’s the underside like for rust etc? Really depends some have done 70k miles and had a rough life, some have done 150k easy motorway miles 🤷🏻♂️ good luck 🤞🏻😜
Personally I'd leave that one at that mileage The engine is probably at the end of its life I've not long had mine full service history 08 with 90G on the clock witch I'd consider very low mileage for the year I probably would have went up to around 150 obviously all depends on the year and condition Service history ect.. Good luck mate
The reason I bought a Chevy express instead of this one is the lack of a V8 option and not as well constructed. 6 lugs compared to Chevy's 8 lugs. Personal preference, I think they are ugly. Hey if you want an econobox more power to you. I drive my van on long hauls and get an average of 21 mpg depending on load. It is also rated to tow 10,000 pounds, can't remember what the 350 transit was but do know it is less. Engine is 6.6 Duramax with 525 foot pounds of torque. I do remember Transits in line 5 was 380 foot pounds of torque. 2016 model year before you get butt hurt.
