I'm sure they're wonderful. I can't even paint a wall. I'm in awe of anyone with talent, and especially those who give a respectful nod to those who went before them.
These are the artists that inspired me in my youth in the 60s I feel your pain On the up side look-up the story of the lady who did the magical transformation in Disney's Cinderella When her dress was transformed As far as I can recall she was the only female animator and had to fight tooth and nail for her magical scene against her male counter parts No guesses who won
I really wished I could paint. It's one gift I truly wish God gave me. Art is so precious. To replicate a face or anything we can see is a real unique gift
Regardless of politics or the reality that today computers could print this almost instantly. I feel it is an incredible shame that this type of work no longer exists.
It bugs me that so many people on this comments thread believe that banners are obsolete simply because computers can churn out pictures. That was never the purpose of banners. They were always meant to be expressions of pride in and affiliation with unions. As the unions died so the banners died. It wasn't the technology that killed them, it was the changing societal attitudes.
Whoever added the legend to this video needs a talking to. Although we should remember with anger the fate of our poor miners, these are Orange Banners. The clues are the bible themes, pictures of Belfast and William III charging across the Boyne river. No Surrender.
@ Explain why you think this job wouldn’t have died off. It’s inefficient to paint a banner for months when a machine could do it for cheaper and print out more copies.
I've spent hours trying to recreate these kinds of paintings, but always with disappointing results, they really are very intricate!
True
Oh no, is that white jesus!??? For shame

They remind me of sideshow banners from around the same time in the US
Amen to Country in A wonderful universe.
I’m his child and he’s my father, his banner over me is love. Christian child’s song.
You should’ve seen what Thatcher did to the miners
Those are Orange banners mate. Oh btw, Harold Wilson closed more mines than Maggie. The more you know eh?
Military flags and standards were also made this way.

The narrator sounds like he is straight off of south park to me lol
Is there anything Thatcher *didn't* destroy?
The Orange Order. Who's banners are featured here.
Anyone else hating Thatcher?
always lol
Obviously. :D
Adore her & always will.
Yeah Jesus was white and blonde.
Every country portrays Jesus as the race of that country

That’s a profession that would have died without Thatcher, especially when machines could just print the banner for cheaper.
That makes absolutely no sense.
