We loved Gavin and Stacey, so really enjoyed your visit to Barry Island Boo would love a walk on the beach, it looks great Loved the swans Hope you are well and had a good weekend 😊
Hi Phil, I loved watching Gavin and Stacey! A beautiful beach - you captured some wonderful shots. The colorful beach huts and mosaics were really attractive. Very enjoyable - thank you! 😊❤
Great place and some fantastic shots Phil. I remember visiting the pleasure park back in the 70's, great days and who could forget the Woodham brothers Loco scrapyard, thank you 😊
Brilliant Phil, the iphone and your skills showed off this place so well. I've never been there but we all love Gavin and Stacey, its soo funny and it was great to see your tour around here. What a great beach but so sad about the smell of cannabis there. Hope that they do something with the old Butlins, I can understand how busy the pleasure park was there. Cold Knapp was pretty with the gorgeous swans, you captured them so well, its really peaceful there. Loved that look around :) ~ Anna 👍
Thanks Anna. Funny enough, Ruth Jones who plays Nessa lives near me, so I’ve seen her and had a chat with her a number of times (really nice person). It was overcast when I went there, but it is still pretty busy at the height of summer 👍❤️
Barry Island looks nice! Those dramatic clouds above you really depict the typical English weather currently! Superb shots as always great swan shots loved the Timelapse 👍
Hi Phil, your video brought back some happy memories of childhood days , remember holidaying there with my mum and dad. Such a lovely beach. The beach huts so colourful. You took some great footage. Loved the swans , great video, have a lovely weekend , Julie and Tony 😊
Great captures Phil Beautiful place - amazing photos of how rammed it was in the past!! Weird smelling of weed - do you reckon it was on the beach? Shame about the old Butlins building in neglect. Swan Lake or swimming pool? 😃😃 Looks a great camera on the iphone 15 Pro. I was undecided last month and I've opted for the Iphone 15 plus (my eyes are not as good as they used to be) Crazy what phones can do now Phil!!!! Hope you and the family have a great weekend mate
Thanks David. Now you’ve got your new phone you should give it a try as your photography camera, as it’s really good. The weed I’m guessing is dog walkers, but the smell nowadays is so pungent! Thanks for you’re lovely comments 🙏❤️
Hiya Phil. That was so nice to watch. I haven't been to Barry for 3 years. I must go there this year. You shared some great memories there. It’s shame it's not so popular anymore. I know Henry Danter is having a good go there. Quality work as always. Loved that vid.👌👏👏👍
Hey Phil lovely memories although there was once this time when our grannie floated away on her lilo she floated across the Bristol channel and was eventually found on a North Devon beach she survived by eating a seal carcass she found floating in the water.... a remarkable lady. Lovely video again
Hi Mr. Olsen hehe I love your photography 101 class. Sad to learn this beach is now deserted... Where are young ones...? New generations live in the imaginal world Watching YT.. virtual game is their reality??? Nice。。。 you can pull out old photos. From wildlife, nature and landscape...so much fun for photography Thank you Appreciate your documentations and descriptive explanations Well done. May I ask What size of your les is "TO GO" lens? Thank YOU
That brings back memories - I had a Summer job when I was a student doing beach photography at Barry Island, we used Polaroid cameras and got paid on commission for how many photos we sold, the business owner had a stuffed elephant that we rolled out from the store located under the roller coaster to the promenade, there were also a couple of huge pandas and then we also carried smaller stuffed animals along the beach as props for the kids to have their photos with. If I was lucky, and that wasn’t often, would get the elephant location, usually best selling location for the day! Does anyone remember getting their photo taken on the beach with a stuffed giraffe, that could have been me!
That is a brilliant story 😂 what years would that be? Back in the 80’s and early 90’s I would travel there from Cardiff every weekend as my friend had a girlfriend there. We always passed the old train graveyard. Barry was busy back then!
@@PhilipOlsen11 that was early 80’s the elephant pitch was on the promenade to the right of the pavilion when looked at from the beach, I think just behind that blue “thing” as I remember the ramp down to the beach in that image you show!
We loved Gavin and Stacey, so really enjoyed your visit to Barry Island

Glad you enjoyed it.
I used to always drive past the stream graveyard and wonder what would become of all those trains 🥺
Thanks for the interesting exploration, beautiful swans and a hiding little bird 😊 👍
Thank you very much! 🙏

I know Liz 🙈 check out the video I did after this off Penarth. There’s a last stunning by the pier- the works gone nuts 😂😂🙈
