This is the ‘Brahms’ guitars, invented by David Rubio, and the design handed on to me before his passing in 2000. I can make these and provide the sound box too.

Flawless performance. The bass of the Brahms guitar here is a big improvement over previous versions. It appears better integrated to the rest of the range where it seemed more one dimensional and stood out sorely .
Has anyone ever seen any such instrument/soundbox thing, for sale anywhere? I assume the whole thing was specifically made for Paul. He works wonders on it!

What’s it like to perform with such a weird guitar?
A brilliant guitarist without question. But if your aim is sound like a piano why not just play the piano?
For the vibrato.
While piano has a spectacular dynamics, the guitar is far more expressive since you can actually touch the strings. Much more economical too since you don't need nearly as much wood and it's far easier to move

Glissandos...portamento vibrato... You have the horizontal of the violin with the vertical of the piano
