+Mike C It is a 30-foot Gillig Phantom. gilligbrt It's likely that +lilmanjt originally videotaped this bus prior to 2003 since it still has the original 6V92TA Detroit Diesel engine.
Bump* This has to be line 217 in Milpitas. Nowadays, this line utilizes 40 foot coaches. Sometimes it would use 60 footers because of the students from Northwestern Polytechnic that ride this line.
i believe this bus is a 27 footer no? looks exactly like the buses we use to have out here on Long Island in Suffolk County before they got retried in 2010.
I first saw these in July 1993 and could not understand the "Glass House" layout verus having Tint on the windows. 1991 was the Gang War era, so why have all passengers VISIBLE for the wrong people to see?
These buses sound very interesting. It is also nice not to see cameras everywhere inside the bus.
Damn listen to the turn signals lol!!!!
2712 retired in March 2010. 19 years of service!
I remember them too! It was on different lines! 7, 9, 11, 12, 13, 17, 65, 67, 80, 81, 84, 85, 86, and other routes
@@marcusarline2172 Nice
Ninja Bus Fan AC Transit 1991 Gillig Phantom 30' with original 6V92TA/Voith powertrain. These were repowered in 2003, so he filmed before then.
Sounds like our old classics.
Ninja Bus Fan Like your Orion I's?
What did they put in to replace them?
@@willbill808 I was mistaking lol. Only 2741 got a series 40. Everything else kept the 6V92.
It sounds like one of SF Muni's Orion city cruisers.

I didn't know you were a bus fan! :D

Yes, of course I am.
ClassicTVMan1981X I just recently took major interest, but I am kinda late, as most of the old buses are retired. :(

The 217 has always had 40 footers in addition to 29 & 35 footers even in the 1990s

@gilligbrt They all have been retired. All I see is 30 foot Van Hools.
Nice! When was this recorded? I would have thought AC Transit retired all of their 30-foot Gilligs by now.

The width is 102 not 96

This one is not repowered.
