- Like a lot of BMTH fans, I'm missing the good old days of heavy music, skinny jeans & breakdowns! The 2008-2009 Myspace deathcore era is always gonna be special to me, and Bring Me The Horizon was such a big part of it...
I know a lot of other creators did videos about this topic but I still wanted to do it, in my own way. :D

Count Your Blessings is still one of the best deathcore albums ever
100% 🤘🏻
As is this is what the edge of your seat was made for
@@donbaker5707I always saw that as just metalcore
@@Sergio-nb4hjalso it's not an album
Actually objectively true
BMTH will always be one of my favorite bands of time as they were able to create sooo many different types of songs including raw Deathcore, Metalcore and even Pop. I genuinely think Oli Sykes is a legend and I am looking forward to seeing their progression as a band in the future.
Yes ! Same here … even though Count your blessings will always have a special place in my heart 🤘🏻🔥
NeX GEn sucks :/ I loved amo and liked some of post human
Idc what anyone says, Count Your Blessings is a masterpiece to me within the whole Warped Tour scene and style of music.
100%
preach
the Bristol acoustic set on the container will always be iconic. was insane
100% it’s an awesome thing to do in these circumstances
Really takes me back. Seeing their MySpace page again brought back some memories. I remember watching the Pray for Plagues video over and over again when I first heard it. They were the kings of the scene for sure.
Awesome ! Yes they were on top 🤘🏻🔥
I remember when bmth opened with diamonds aren't forever at warped tour 09ish maybe 2010. A moment you will never forget.
The first two releases from this band deserve more praise in the deathcore community. Also I think it's crazy how Oliver Sykes is always considered "cool with the kids" in some capacity, literally every generation. People don't usually stay trendy that long. Oliver is a marketing genius and sophisticated businessman
im just convinced the sadness will never end and it never ends are linked together ... almost like olis reminding us tht it truly doesnt end
There's something to be said about the raw aggression of old school deathcore. Feels more authentic than the overproduced deathcore many bands produce these days
Suicide Season is still one of my favorite metal albums of all time
22:52 imma have to say this, but architects came up in the scene alongside BMTH, also starting off with a sound that’s extremely reminiscent of Norma Jean, Converge, and Dillinger Escape Plan. Ruin inspired the stylistic shift they had on suicide season, which in turn inspired Hollow Crown, which is where all the electronic and pop mixed with metalcore and hardcore bands partially drew inspiration from. Though I see the influence architects and BMTH had on bands those attack attack and asking Alexandria kinda bands as secondary to the influence of bands like saosin, circa survive, blessthefall, underoath, the used, a day to remember, senses fail, from first to last, falling in reverse, avenged sevenfold, and basically every other band that tried to blend together groove metal/metalcore/new wave of American heavy metal and pop punk. All with varying degrees of success *glares at Matt shadows vocals on the first two a7x records, the massive blemish on the face of two otherwise perfect records that beautifully married the sound of bands like afi and screeching weasel with bands like Metallica and pantera.* I would’ve likely included B4MV in the past but their first two records were just straight up copying Trivium and i love them for that. Once I got used to Matt’s vocals on ascendancy and ember to inferno, that was “the sound” for me. Everything I wanted to play and imitate. Metallica with just enough influence from 90’s hardcore to make it fresh and exciting.
You know you are a huge fan of a band when you recognize every single live show from the video
thanks for this vid, loved learning more about bmth’s older stuff as someone that’s got into them (way) more recently :D and i’m seeing them in a month so super excited for that!!
Thank you so much ! I'm glad you enjoyed and I'm sure the show will be awesome. I saw them live and they are amazing ! 🤘🏻🔥
Such a cool channel! Love seeing someone go over this era of music
Thank you 🤘🏻appreciate !
Been binging all these Myspace videos. I love that you play a sizeable clip of the songs, you can really get the feel for the tune that way.
The nostalgia is too much, I miss the deathcore days
Thank you !! Yes on my most recent videos it’s a bit shorter I think for the copyrights but I’m trying to put songs as long as I can 🤘🏻🔥
Glad I discovered your channel! Takes me back to the greatest time of my life
Happy to hear that !! Thank you 🤘🏻🔥
great video as much as I love the new stuff its always fun to look back on the older songs
Thank you ! Yes I think it’s always cool to see where it all started 🤘🏻🔥
I remember there was a low-key grotty halloween gig of theirs from the late 00's where one of was dressed as Scooby Doo, good times.
Loving the content my dude . It's great watching this stuff and brings me back to some of my favourite memories. Keep it coming my dude!
I'm glad you enjoyed !! Thank you, I will 🤘🏻🔥
Good old times, i love the old stuff 🤘🏻 thx for the memories :)
Thanks to you for the support, I really appreciate !
Dude you mentioned black list!! Such an amazing deep cut that never gets talked about. I didn’t know about it’s origins as a diss to Curtis
though.
Absolutely love their new stuff but holy shit when I saw them do the throwback medley in Melbourne I was one of the happiest people in the world
Great video by the way!
Yes , they are performing their old songs very well !! and thank you 🤘🏻
I’m so glad I found your channel! Keep it up! 😁
Hey thanks man 🤘🏻🔥 means a lot
You have a great thing going with this channel. You're doing fantastic. Don't worry, just trust the process. Eventually you'll grow a subscriber base big enough to make a living of it. One thing you already do and is a great additions are the interviews with bands. That's always super interesting. Not only the OG bands but also newer bands like Elysia, Slamwich, Peeling Flesh, Embrace Your Punishment or whoever is killing it at the moment. I mean there are soo many underground deathcore and slam bands you can interview
Thank you very much !
Love the video thanks for this!
Hey thanks for watching !! Really appreciate :D
I agree. I still listen to count your blessings. Medusa will never get old to me
Great video mate, really informative and well constructed.
Subbed
Wow thank you so much ! It means a lot 🤘🏻🔥
i love this type of videos
🤘🏻🔥
I also miss that I do BMTH MySpace era, but I don’t think it should be overlooked that they’re still getting up and going playing some old school deathcore in front of sold out stadiums, even if a lot of those people are there to hear tracks off Amo and newer. That’s pretty badass, and probably has introduced a lot of people to that genre. Love your videos, keep ‘em up 🤘
Damn bro!! I'm grabbing a couple beers and binging your shit!! Great objective/subjective points of view. Love this shit!!!
Thanks man!! I’m glad you enjoyed 🤘🏻🔥 new video every week .. the next one is on Wednesday
cool channel the MSDC era played such a heavy influence on me and my musical upbringing. would love to see a video on Elysia
Yes a lot of people are asking for this one
So glad I found your videos, I found the TAIM video
I also grew up during the Myspace deathcore times and I would make stuff like this if I could, thank you
I'd like to add one cool thing, as a guitarist I remember Sleep With One Eye Open being the first song I EVER heard tune down to G. (They usually played in B)
Other bands like Suicide Silence and Whitechapel played seven string guitars tuned to A, but I remember playing along to Suicide Season and going WHAT IS THAT NOTE
You’re welcome!! I mean I’m having so much fun , and it just feels like I have to do it 🤘🏻🔥
youre not alone mate
BMTH is the band that got me unto metalcore, forever grateful for that, now i am excited for theyre new album
Ugh I miss those days, still love the old BMTH till this day. It took me a VERY long time to get into their new stuff.
The awakening by underneath the gun was always an EP shrouded in mystery for me. Could be a good subject for a video if you’re familiar
I'll look into that!
Dude I loved underneath the gun!!
@@HollowSentence22 dude that first album with muckraker and fireball log dump absolutely blew my mind. You’re the first person I’ve encountered who knows lol
@@hyvemynd605 yeah man, and I always loved the intro song to that EP with the gun fire sounds and sirens, I think it's called deathcard. I think those guys were only like 16 years old when they made that EP
I'm still listening to count your blessings and suicide season. Ohh man
even though i was born long after bmth did deathcore i still love that stuff and to see this video explain this so well i absolutley love
"you werent even born when we made this shit"
Damn you just made me feel so old lmao
So I know I asked for Belie My Burial... But fuuuuck, I would die for a IKilledThePromQueen mini doc
Also, I was at the Charlotte, NC warped tour in '13 or '14 when BMTH did the shadow moses breakdown twice.
They're both on my list haha and that's awesome 🤘🏻🔥
IT WAS WRITTEN IN BLOOD is my favorite song off SS! the whole album is dope af, but that song hits hard for me
My comment will be lost im sure, but you have to talk about Elysia. Id love to see a video on them. My favorite early deathcore band.
You’re videos are criminally underrated, so clean and relaxed
Thank you so much !! To be fair, I’ve started just a little more than a month ago so I’m already happy with all the love and support I’m getting 🤘🏻🔥
Yooooo that last clip of them playing live, where did you find that?! I’d love to check out the full set if it’s available!
Love the content, you’re fucking awesome🤘🏻
suicide season .... man this album holds a very very important place to me with the songs the sadness never ends and suicide season .... there is a hell too ..... god dam those 2 fucking albums mean so much to me .... ex gf drama ... mental drama .... loss of my grandpa .... so much
Love this! I still have my OG dropdead lumberjack hat & still gets used every winter hah. Iconic shit
🤘🏻🔥
Lets explore The Crimson Armada next
I remember sitting in computer class (cause that used to be a thing) and watching the PFP music video with my friends and bein mind blown.
This man is a hero!!!
count your blessings was a blessing from the deathcore gods
Love this account bruh fr
🤘🏻🔥
@@xtheyan you should do a video on in dying arms man you can tell their guitar players love breakdowns. Their 2010 ep is crazy🖤🖤
I feel like it’s a shame sometimes with the lack of guitar and drum technicality malia and nichols have in newer bmth tracks. Seeing them in a more heavier project would be cool
Curtis got kicked out on the bus on Warped Tour. There was some back and forth banter about the shirt Curtis was going to wear on stage between him and Oli. Then Curtis was moaning about having to play at all on stage and Oli just flipped out and kicked him off the tour there and then. Their guitar tech Dean Rowbowtham covered for the rest of that tour and Jona joined not long after.
Long live BMTH!
Me Still listening count your blessing 🤌🏻🔥 big love from India 🇮🇳
i fucking love your videos
RWARRRR. Their first E.P. is so epic. Man like you said you can't hate on them. As we get older out music changes. I never thought ar 43 I would love Doom and Black Metal as of this year or Japanese flute but I do. Our tastes changes and being Hardcore is all about being open minded and if your not open minded you missed out on alot and you certainly better not say you love Hardcore.
Asking Alexandria did the same thing and they verbally said, "we want to become more rock and roll" I say good for them. I may not like their new style of both bands but im happy they had the courage to still follow their passions and none of us should fault them for that. They arent sell outs !! Don't even get me started on CODE Orange😂 SMH.. Well I hope both bands keep following their passions. Thats Hardcore. They didn't care and who are we to tell them what to do with their passion to play music. Much love and all but kind words for anyone who read my comment 0:58
I competely agree ! Even if sometimes we're disappointed by the new direction, we should still be grateful for the album we loved and wish them the best , instead of complaining ! 🤘🏻🔥
@xtheyan defenitly and honestly when I was younger or even 5 or 10 years ago I would down on these artists and I just wasn't taking the time to just say to myself they dint care about making money they are taking a huge risk and that rakes courage. I defenitly can tell you want to go more deeper into giving us knowledge on these bands but you keep it on the subject your channel is about and I really admire that. I never read tge comment asking if you had a band or if you were on Spotify?
Do Molotov Solution! Starting all the way back in 04 or before! All on TH-cam!
Yes could be a great video too
need a video on i killed the prom queen too
I'll do one for sure
ah yes i miss the monster and redbull cans the smell of hair spray and bbqs in the air. such a great era
Not a big fan of Bring Me but I think you did a pretty good job!!!
Thanks , means a lot !! 🤘🏻🔥
That bit at around the 3:13 mark is so obvious as being (I Used To Make Out With) Medusa, even if the recording is shit, the playing is so obviously on point, like holy shit.
"DEAD HANDS CLUTCH MY ARM"
THE SMELL OF DEATH FILLS THE AIR"
A+ lyrics :)
3:04 I didn’t know Sami Zayn had a metal band
For Stevie Wonders eyes only was 🔥
true 🔥
have you considered doing a video on the red shore? i mostly ask because bring me the horizon, the red shore and i killed the prom queen were my 2nd ever concert so i associate all 3, pray for plagues is top tier myspace deathcore imo
honestly the red shore might not be big enough for a video they sadly never got huge
They’re on my list 🤘🏻🔥
i remember that US tour when red shore toured with them.
The Red Shore are so Count Your Blessings
Can i request dead to fall? Or martyr ad?
Saw them live when Count your blessings was still new. They were sick. Glad to hear they still play old stuff live occasionally as I’m not a fan of anything after suicide season
🤘🏻🔥
fun fact about the chelsea smile video is has all the guys from cancer bats are in the video
That's awesome, didn't know that
Ahh their first album was so freaking amazing! I guess they transitioned because they wanted to make real band money though 😅 Their new stuff is interesting too.
I have never found myself wanting to listen to a full deathcore album unless it was bmth, havent listened to the ep, but I listened to albums from count your blessings to sempiternal.
Count your blessings is peak. I couldn't get into sempiternal as much as other people, mostly because of seeing so many unfunny sigma edits using can you feel my heart, which isn't my favorite to begin with, the other songs are good, but some of them sound a little similar, which nothing wrong with that, but just hearing some kind of pattern turned me off from it a little.
as for new songs, I've heard Kingslayer, parasite eve, amen, lost and a small bit of kool-aid. which all of those except for kool-aid were good if not great (excluded kool-aid because i don't remember anything about it).
You should hear Kool-Aid again
Suicide season, there is a hell…, and sempiternal have all been an acquired taste for me, but even right out the gate I loved count your blessings even though I acted like a hater. I’ve always been critical of the production and sound design, though it’s still more tolerable than the cleansing or unhallowed. I think it’s because I took a liking to ABRB’s Allegiance right away because of the songwriting and it’s the one record of that style and time period that isn’t overly compressed or distorted to the point that a lot of the music is unintelligible (though it’s a bit too high on the decibels at times) and listening to it repeatedly I became accustomed to the weird eclectic songwriting as well as the overly loud and synthetic sound of digitally produced music and eventually took a liking to deathcore. That and seeing metalcore and deathcore bands at the 2012 summer slaughter fest and feeling the energy in the room, even though the sound techs at the grove absolutely ruined most of their sets. What I find especially funny is how as I’ve grown up the sound of older, more lo-fi death metal and grindcore records made with analog equipment like from enslavement to obliteration and blasphemy made flesh, the guitar work that used to be crisp and clear to my ears has become more unintelligible while now I can understand every riff on the cleansing, which I used to not be able to do
I heard Curtis Ward had an inner ear problem and with the loud music was causing him to go deaf?
I didn’t hear about that , but it’s possible !!
whats your take on BM? Dissection?
Storm of the light's bane 🖤
I'll never forget their joke songs they did as Womb 2 Da Tomb hahaha that shit was so funny and stupid
So glad I never got loaded with corny tattoos cuz of being into this scene as a kid lmao
Still love my tattoos my guy 🤘🏻🔥 have a great day
@@xtheyan I was speaking for myself, I didn’t mean it towards you. I just personally changed as a person. Good video bro, brings back memories.
@@JesseGMan7 no problem man I literally never take anything badly , everyone has their opinion and it’s totally fine 🤘🏻🔥 Thank you for the support , I’m glad you enjoyed !
I absolutely hated BMTH around the time they released Pray for Plagues. Honestly not a big fan of the myspace deathcore stuff in general as I was into more traditional death metal at the time. I gave Suicide Season a chance and really liked that album. Everything they've out out since I've enjoyed. If you would have told me back in 2006 this band would be one of the biggest in the rock/metal/alternative scene now, I would have laughed.
I only care about their first 4 albums, besides CYB they were more of metalcore band. But I feel like they lost their sound after Sempiternal imo. I'm not saying their new stuff is bad, just not for me. Cool to seem them still perform old songs but damn Oli is struggling.
Really?
i hate all my

Not bad for a Boy Band… 😎

7:51 WHAT THE FUCK!!?!?!? Will Ramos!!??!?! you didn't say anything about being featured on their MV.
Great cover
sempiternal was when I stopped liking BMTH lol
Best album by them tbh
this is the era I love the most from them.. everything after sempiternal is trash in my opinion.. just commercial stuff =))
It's my favorite era too, I think they always were good but it's just really different now
@@xtheyan yeah.. it's just about my taste there.. I just never liked commercial music.. I think it sucks.. I don't have something with it, just not my thing.
@@ANDREIFILMSjust because it's not heavy doesn't mean it's commercial stuff :)
I miss this oli!

You should check out "The Cozy Representative" ... He did an amazing video about EMWIH 🤘🏻
Do escape the fate lol
I love this era of BMTH. I stopped listening to thrm when sempiternal came out. I consider that their "Black Album" equivalent to metallica where it got them mainstream and the music changed. I just didn't like it. Count your blessings will foever be my favorite album by BMTH. I remember playing it on my ipod nano and ipod touch. Those were the days
Yes it sure was ! Count your blessings is also my favorite 🤘🏻🔥
