My old band played with Suffokate back in the day, and my parents came to that show. My mom wanted to "fit in" and stole one of my Black My Heart hoodies to wear for the night and Ricky walked by at one point, said "awesome hoodie" and high fived her haha. Miss these days brother
Watching these videos about late 2000s deathcore bands feels like a nostalgic journey back to my youth. The music, the scene, the memories - they all come rushing back and provide such comfort. It's amazing how these bands shaped our upbringings and left a lasting impact. Grateful for these videos that keep the spirit of that era alive.
Brooo your enthusiasm and just how you talk about these bands makes me so happy. Being from Norway and constantly flying to germany to go to hardcore/metalcore/deathcore shows takes me back so bad, getting club mate before the show was a ritual

Asking Ricky Hoover to smoke a blunt at a show "Im straight edge, ask my band mates" was embarassing haha but he was cool about it. Ended up blazing with some of the members of suffokate and the faceless. All great dudes. Your series covering Myspace era metal feels like home man, thanks a lot :)
I second that we NEED and As Blood Runs Black video my dude! I've recently been on a MySpace era deathcore kick all over again and your videos coincided with that perfectly lol keep it up bruh

I’ve been watching the vids for a while, and I really enjoy them! It’s cool hearing the stories and lore behind how they got to be! A couple of bands I would like to see on here is I Declare War and Whitechapel. Keep up with the good work!!
Thank you so much for doing a video on Suffokate! I remember listening to some of their songs, all the way back to when I was 13.. They helped serve as a major gateway to deathcore for me. I'm quite shocked that more people don't talk about them actually, soo underrated!
I used to have a promotional company called Eviscerated Entertainment. I did those shows with them early on. Those days were amazing and will always be in my heart. Suffokate, Gunmetal Grey and Omissa were my favorites back then. I miss these experiences. We are all old now lol
Didn’t know how bad I needed these videos until I watched a couple. What a fantastic time to be alive. Hard to imagine anyone obsessing over music as much as I did during this era. Easily one of the best live performances I had seen. First Blood had a similar style and was absolutely perfect live. Keep going these videos are great!
I just discovered your channel and I'm already hooked, the Oceano video was amazing to watch and now this one, Suffokate is a band that has been present in my life for a solid 12 years, as much as I love No mercy, No forgiveness, Return to despair it's my number one album from them, and now that I'm 30 and went trough lots of shit, it hits even closer, My darkened eyes, and Let the water rise are by far the songs that I enjoy the most, BUT the whole album, once it starts, I will never skip a single song, and by the time Dissolving hits, all I want is to replay the whole album again haha, and seeing Ricky coming back with the amazing Ov Sulfur, it's like watching your childhood hero make a glamorous return.
Ricky is one of my heros as well, I loved his image back in suffokate. I got to see Ov Sulfur and take a picture with the band and just shoot the shit with them for a bit. Nicest dudes! It was super aweesome meeting them all and I just told Rickey how stoked I was he's back in music cuz I never got to see him previously and he just go so happy
In Jr. High, a friend and I organized a show at a church so our band could open for Suffokate and Suicide Silence. It was 2005 and there was what some might call a huge gang fight outside while Suffokate played. Best show ever.
The entire album has gotten me through some of the bleakest points in my life. The writing, the sound, everything. I’m glad you share a similar sentiment.

I had, correction still have the biggest crush on him, those vocals are INSANE! ❤
Totally remember these guys from the MySpace days. They were so hard.

Hell yeah I love Suffokate. Great band all eras.
100% 🤘🏻🔥
I'd fucking love to see you make a video about The Black Dahlia Murder. I know they're not deathcore, but with trevor passing and how much of a legacy he and that band left behind, I'd enjoy hearing what you think of them
I will for sure !
@@xtheyan I love your videos dude! I found your channel a few days ago and I've been watching them a lot. I can't wait for that! 🤘
Another banger of a band!!! I Love Suffokate and such an amazing influence they had on the scene!!!
1. You answered my question that being "Are you planning on doing a Suicide Silence video?"
2. You made me come to the realization that Ov Sulfur is Ricky's new band and i've never really looked up the members but knew that the band was good. I have seen pictures of Ov Sulfur and didn't realize that was Ricky at all LOL
3. Loving this content so much it's very refreshing knowing that someone is dedicated on sharing the grand fathers of Deathcore as a whole!
Thank you so much for your kind words , I really means a lot ! And I'm really glad you enjoyed 🤘🏻
No mercy, no forgiveness still one of my favs

My most favorite early deathcore band! Sort of the pantera of that genre to me
