I really wish this wasn't Sphere Only! I work in two Studios, where one of them has two Rooms. So three places. We don't have the need for Sphere, but every place being slightly different is annoying. If this could at least also be a feature of S1 Pro, it would add "Pro" to Pro, for sure!
Just came across musicradars interview with fender CEO, & this is what he says about the future of Studio One “I think you need to take away more features, make it simpler and more intuitive and less expensive”. I was literally shocked reading this. Studio One is such an amazing DAW, all these years the developers have been doing their best to make it powerful and intuitive at the same time. I cannot consider this as a right move for Studio One's future. I hope team fender understans how much the users value and depend on this piece of software and make a right decision.
Maybe Fender ownership is going on? You know, they might start offering a "vintage relic-ed" GUI soon? 😉😉 Jokes aside, let's hope they're working on something new and good!
The Fender CEO is on record saying he wants to dumb down Studio One and remove features. Its likely no coincidence development has stopped this year, devs probably busy building a childrens "DAW" instead. Sad to see this great software being left behind, soon Studio One will be left behind the likes of Logic, PT, Cubase, Reaper etc., which is such a shame considering the amazing development and market share progress over the last 10 years.
The Fender CEO says that the new Studio One A.I. will play instruments, vocal tune automatically, produce any genre, mix, and master, with one mouse click. Will include add-ons for artists' artwork designs and distributions to DSP.

This is no doubt one of the top ten features of Studio One that sets it above the rest of the DAW's. Absolutely awesome, just wish I'd come to know this before I got my new iMac...better late than never I guess.
Honestly I really need to thank you for this video! I need to reinstall my studi one one 5 to my new ssd and I was so afraid of losing all my personal settings presets and stuff. Thank you so much!
I own a full Pro license for Studio One 5.5, but a monthly sub is just not in the budget at this time for me. Although I want to join Sphere when I can. Is it possible to do this back-up and have that file be stored "Locally" only? Then I could manually transfer it to another machine if necessary. or Would I be able to "sync" between my registered copies using this, but without sphere? I don't currently run S1 on multiple machines, but I may want to in the future. Thanks for another informative video, Joe!
IMHO it should be more like automatic settings sync for a profile per name. But I won't go for sphere, I prefer owning it and sphere has not enough advantage for me.
Been real helpful if the word SPHERE was actually in the title. Not just that little font sphere in blue, so I thought this covered OWNER Studio One folks like me. But while on the subject of Sphere-------I am not nor ever will be a SPHERE user. I already OWN Studio One, when I BOUGHT and paid $400 essentially, AND THEN, shelled out another $150 for the Version 5 Upgrade, probably when Presonus needed the CASH more than maybe they do today. I also think that when they came out with SPHERE it was a "slap in the face" to us "Owners" of the DAW, at about $550. Also because they seem to have decided to completely ignore myself and all my Peer Owners, since we are "left out in the cold" on so many seminars, etc etc etc, as they "coddle" to the $15/mo crew, as that is also not their fault. It is also obvious in other ways, since I've had alot of trouble with TS---a real joke----in the last 2-3 wks, as I fixed some of the issues myself. ALL in the last 2 wks with unstable DAW issues and all since Version 5 came out. So much for Diagnostic Rpts. Now I luckily discovered that I actually BOUGHT Version 5 through Sweetwater and they have an excellent TS dept. Also had some Waves plugin issues that Waves responded well to, and even was willing to "connect to my CPU". Presonus never did do that as it's not a NEW feature in the digital and computer world. And you'd THINK that being here in the States-----Louisiana, they'd also be willing to have a phone chat, which woulda saved a tremendous amt of time. I'm off my soapbox----for now. So, I have been working on this song for weeks. I converted it to mp3 to listen in my vehicle, 4 hours later I go to open the song to edit and the entire song is missing. It's not on my C drive with the rest of everything. What happened to it and how can I get it back?! This just happened.
Nice, but too bad it's a subscription/membership thing. IMHO backup, restore and safety features should NEVER be linked to subscriptions or to memberships, but just plain features available to rhe professional user, for peace of mind, and in fact for professionalism itself.
This isn't a safety feature. Nobody dies without it. It's an extra that provides a lot of convenience for people moving between studios or computers. I don't know if anyone else even offers it. If they do, i bet they don't give it to you just because. Studio one isn't lacking professionalism. ☺️
@@keiljazz Data/project safety was meant, OBVIOUSLY. 🤷🏼♂️ Studio One is a totally professional work tool, and I use it professionally as my main DAW and enjoy it. What I am saying is that, as data/project safety & backup are objectively important in a professional environment, if & when there is an opportunity or way to enhance them or offer them, IMHO it should not come as a subscription/membership only feature. Subscription business models are scammy and a long term pain in the rear, as e.g. Avid users or website owners know all too well. Fine if it doesn't bother you, LLAP.

I have sphere. I backed up and when I closed studio one and reopened it, I clicked on restore and all it says is to restart, I do and it keeps telling me to restart it. Why can it be as simple as save as for the start of the folder and then save to continue to save updated version of song. This is total bullshit.

It depends on the speed of your external drive - usually modern drives would not introduce any latency one everything is loaded. This is only important if you are having VSTs reading samples live from your disk. In that case you should use a fast SSD.

Do you only need membership to backup Preferences, presets, keyboard shotcuts. I'm coming over possibly from another DAW to Studio One and these settings gets saved/stored on locakl computer so that I can backup and restore myself when I need to do a clean install for example
Hi Louie, yes, you can save all of your preferences as a backup and restore them on any other system - Windows, Mac, or Linux. You can do this either with the "Backup & Restore" menu that's built inside of Studio One (if you have Studio One+), or by manually creating a backup of your Settings Folder. I already have studio one proffesional, and learning it like crazy the last two days.🙂 How do I get sphere membership for the additional content, loops, plugins, sound sets, etc. According to the site it seems I need to get studio one plus which also includes the DAW I already have.
I've been using Studio One Pro since 2009, and have had to do manual backup's since then, this seems like a feature that should be included for any Pro users regardless. Some of us have tried Sphere,and don't feel like it's worth it to subscribe, we shouldn't lose critical features because of that. I get a Sphere account for those that want added content,but an option to back up our projects with ease after all the years of not being able to, to charge faithful Pro customers for that is just plain rude of Presonus.
You'd have thought a Pro version includes all program features, not Studio One. It lacks back up and restore, unless of course you pay for sphere, not very pro PreSonus come on pls. And please don't alter SO it's the best DAW now, don't make it the worst. You'll soon lose many customers.

Backup and Restore is an amazing feature. I backup everyday if I’m working in Studio One. The convert to zip file and auto upload to Shere is killer.
