Today, we’re going to do something a little bit different, because we are going to cover 107 facts about Nickelodeon. Some facts you may already know, but probably also things you didn’t know. Because this is about a studio rather than a single show or movie, we’re also going to cover a bit more of the history of one of the largest distributors of children’s entertainment in the world. That said, I’m Adrian and let’s get under way with 107 facts about Nickelodeon.

I remember channel surfing back in 2011 and came across Adventure Time. I was puzzled because I thought I stumbled upon Nickelodeon, which was weird because our local cable didn't carry Nickelodeon. I realized it was actually Cartoon Network. Adventure Time exudes this weird energy that really fit Nickelodeon.

And because of this right after Adventure Time went off to CN, Nick made some sort of contract not allowing any other animated pilots being shown at other networks. So if you pitch your pilot animated show to Nick they own the right to said pilot and the animator cannot show it off to other companies. It really makes me mad that they did this sort of thing. And especially with them being too cautious when it comes to original animated shows.

I really miss watching Manny Rivera, Jenny (XJ-9), Danny, Aang, Korra. Even with the latter three being playable in all-star brawl (and Manny and Jenny hopefully being DLC), I just want to see them in a fresh state on screen again.

The first Rugrats movie still holds a place in my heart
I watched it religiously when I was little and still get emotional when I rewatch Tommy, Chuckie and Phil and Lil arguing with each other
I actually liked the brotherly relationship between Tommy and Dil
Also the soundtrack is really good
Edit: Oh and the fight between Spike and the wolf was pretty epic

that's because in 2011 online platforms, such as TH-cam and twitch, gained a massive population, to the point that kids and teenager weren't watching TV anymore.

This was such a good nostalgic trip. Hey Arnold was one of my favorites growing up, and Rocket Power. Honestly, Victorious I’m still bummed they never got the proper ending it deserved. Great job Adrian!
I see so much hate for Rocket Power and I was obsessed with it. Every friggen kid became more active and I even joined inline skating and competed for 12 years.
Did you like As Told By Ginger too? That show doesn't get a lot of love but it sure made my mom and I smile.
i love love this. i do wish they expanded a little more on how Jimmy Neutron came about. maybe briefly touching on how it was a movie first then turned to a show.

I find it funny that, despite being treated like a Zarghami show, The X's was the last Nicktoon that aired before Cyma Zargami became president. Sorry, I still can't get over that.

Fact 108, they killed the angry beavers to rarely been seen in a lot of future media after the crew from the show dare to want a little revange with the never aired episode "bye, bye beavers" for the Studio plan to cancel the show without making them know before doing it. Look for the audio, it is maybe still in TH-cam, but for sure somewhere in the internet. The episode is actually more than salt and is very fun. It has the original voice actors, and they go over a lot of topics, from the beavers accepting their death, to Norbert explaining that they are an illusion created by a group of artists, criticizing the policies of the studio and the benefit that the studio derives from those artists , that it does not always translates to a fair tratmnent for their jobs. There is also a nice and smart part talking about animation as a means of expression, the role of the voice actors, etc. Of course after that it is curious to visit Mitch Schauer's blog and see that to draw characters from the show the color palette changes, and well, the characters are not his, they belong to nickelodeon. To be fair they did their best in that episode to brake every rule of the channel.

To be fair, I was probably a little too old for Blue's Clues at the time. Hasn't stopped me from watching old episodes with my kids now.

Corrections: Nickel Flicks didn't even last a year. Also Pinwheel ended production in 1984 but stopped airing on the channel in 1990 2 years after Nick Jr. started. Otherwise great job

I remember in 2012; that was the year I got my first computer. So I had access to steam, skype, etc. I would play GMOD and Minecraft with my friends. There was no need for TV, especially since netflix started playing good shows.

I love listening or reading about Nickelodeon’s history. CN, Disney or PBS Kids don’t seem to have much of a story to talk about. I could’ve been wrong about that though.

Unpopular opinion: I'm actually glad that Danny Phantom did not move past its third season. Had it gone on for far too long, the show would have suffered intense seasonal rot.
Didn't the creator leave the show or was thrown out after season 2? That would explain why the third season is so disappointing.

According to Wikipedia, the fights the late Mr. Hillenburg had to make with executives include the voice cast. Execs wanted to set up auditions for the title character but Hillenburg convinced them that Tom Kenny was perfect. Same with Plankton. As Plankton wasn't originally going to be a recurring character, executives wanted a celebrity to do the voice and had Bruce Willis in mind. Again, Stephen insisted on Mr. Lawrence. Also, Nickelodeon's executives wanted SpongeBob to be a kid in school as that's what attracted veiwers according to them. But Stephen Hillenburg wanted SpongeBob to be an adult. He came up with a compromise, thus boating school and Mrs. Puff were created. Who would've guessed that SpongeBob SquarePants would become Nickelodeon's biggest star and one of the most iconic characters in history.
I knew right away that Spongebob was gonna be a hit. It was so funny.

Fun Fact: if you have ever watched A Series of Unfortunate Events on Netflix anytime, in the 3rd episode of the entire series, Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris) mentions the word. Not only is he describing the movie theatre that he, the Baudelaire kids and their Uncle Monty, visited, but quite coincidentally, the 2004 film adaptation starring Jim Carrey, was ACTUALLY produced by Nickelodeon Movies, Nick's film production branch. Not coincidentally, that's why the TV show was produced by VicaomCBS, the company owing Nickelodeon.
15:07-- Blue's Clues remains one of my favourite Nick Jr. shows of all time, because it feels like a timeless classic, even though at the time I watched other shows too, like Oswald and PAW patrol.
there was also the time when nick had the airing rights to power rangers (plus past seasons) when disney sold it back to Saban from power rangers samurai all the way up to Dino fury part one when it moved to Netflix
