Dear Kasey, I wanted to send you a sincere thank you! I received my FJO today with my start date being 7/3/23! Your videos, book, and advice has helped me through this whole process! Thank you so much! You are a great dude!
I just had my offer rescinded due to not passing the physical security check to get on the base. I'm so clueless as to why, I was in the military for 8 years and have never been in trouble.
It comes to government jobs don't be demanding to the hiring manager or have a difficult personality! Most definitely don't try to change your job position and title before you start working there! I know this to be a Big Factor my wife is director of HR now and she's always stated the ones in the beginning being difficult will always be difficult through their employment and going out the door! So basically check yourself and be humble! Remember government never fires anybody its only recourse is to stop you from getting in! 😂
I’m currently a contractor at a government agency that gave me a TJO. I have to assume that odds of failing a background check are zero. I have nothing to hide but just being a little paranoid…
I was told to reject the offer by HR in order to request pay that is comparable to my present job's salary. I was also told to send proof of my existing pay.
I've heard of HR saying that before but I wouldn't recommend it. If you reject the TJO it's like declining the position. They aren't obligated to do anything after that and can move on to the next person once you decline.
Hi I know this video covers how a TJO can be rescinded but once an FJO is accepted can this be rescinded? Is it typically under the same reasons such as pre-employment / suitability issues?
There are situations where a firm offer could be rescinded. Generally it would be for issues that came up after a pre-employment requirement was completed. An example would be getting a FJO before the background check was done and then finding some history that would keep someone from being able to clear.
What if you work for the government and you interviewed at a different department, they made you an offer and you agreed. You informed your current supervisor for the first time and then someone in upper management got involved and rescinded the offer.
What if you get a tentative offer , you complete all pre-employee requirements , get a final offer with a location that is not suitable but you request a different location since the announcement said “location negotiable after selection” then they rescind your tentative and final offer ?
As long as you don't decline your offer that shouldn't happen. You can make requests and if the other location isn't possible they would just let you know and you keep on with your current offer. Probably shouldn't wait until the firm to ask for another location though.
I was offered a TJO but to be rescinded due to not having 12 credit hours in accounting. The position indicates experience or education to qualify. Don’t they review the requirements first before offering the TJO? That’s because I completed all my pre-employment. Is there something I can do about that?
During the onboarding process they will do a final quality review. It does happen that someone gets through to TJO but is missing a qualification requirement. When that happens the offer is rescinded. Unfortunately someone that doesn't meet the qualifications can't be hired.
