Gale Stab has been fixed! You can now grab the ledge immediately! I'd say it's an actually pretty viable option now: burst movement option, helps fix Mii SF's subpar speed and approach options, and can kill when charged (to catch landings for instance). Can be very helpful at the ledge to get back on stage as well.
@@6ix_6inslog95 The same one as Roy and Chrom's infamous jab -> B-air. There are several ways to perform it and it's well-documented enough. Find the one that works for you!
@@ChaosSolak Thanks, I’m working on utilizing my Back Air more, but I find it hard to know when to throw it out/how to land it. I’m assuming it’s the same techs for DThrow -> Bair, right?
@@6ix_6inslog95 Yep. It's basically working with the buffer system to buffer a B-air the very first frame you can. Doesn't matter if it's after a jab, D-tilt or D-throw. B-air is best used to kill at high % and combo at very low %. Other than that, while it can shield pressure, it's also very obvious. It's the only thing you can throw out and the timing is mostly the same due to the horizontal hitbox, meaning you can be easily parried and punished, even with proper spacing. That's why it's important to mix it up. Sometimes do land the B-air on shield, sometimes tomahawk grab, sometimes dash away (and observe what they do). Landing and using D-tilt also works, as it's safe on shield and can catch OoS actions (including jump since many people won't wait before acting). So the mistake you shouldn't do is rely too heavily on your B-air. Find uses for it, but it's not Palutena's N-air.

This guide is the best guide I've seen so far for Mii Swordsman. I'm a tornado, chakram, hero spin, reversal slash player. As the character is so deep I wanted to include a few things I found as a swordsmain. Hopefully it will be helpful to others. Tornado - such a unique move, you covered this one really well. I've found short hoping with it an incredible mix up to catch players who get too aggressive - I think you mentioned this but just wanted to reiterate since I've found incredible success with it. It's worse against smaller/floatier characters who get knocked back more making follow ups harder although a quick double jump can still get them and at higher pertages they will have a higher hit stun. Short hoping hop Tornado is easier to punish against these smaller characters so I avoid using it there. When you land It still puts the floatier characters in disadvantage so its not the absolute worse but it makes follow ups harder. I want to try Blurring Blade since I know it got a buff and its better vs small characters so I could use it as a counter pick in a tournamnet vs one of the smaller/floatier character. Chakram - Only thing to add is that slow chakram can gimp get ups off the ledge, I often do a slow chakram into Tornado when they are on the ledge. Its just another great ledge trapping option. Hero Spin - Only thing to add is that you can down throw into Spin at low to mid percentages. I think when you have to short hop into UpAir in certain spots you can full hop into Spin for more damage (because of bigger hit box). Also if they DI its easier to catch em with Hero Spin. You can also catch air dodges sometimes. As a rule Up Air is less of a commitment but if you are a swordsmain it might be something worth labbing. Down Air - Off stage edge guarding with this is hard or near impossible when playing Hero Spin as your Up B. I try not to do it unless I'm ahead as I'm slightly curious where I could use it (usually pretty close to the edge) but generally speaking I don't use it since I've SD'd too many times lol. Back Air - can be another great ledge guarding tool when they are vertically recovering from under the stage. It can put you in disadvantage so it should only be used vs predictable recoveries. I def got a bunch from watching your videos. Keep up the good work!
Nice ellaborate comment, I agree with everything you said! Just watch out for the better players who will read your SH Tornadoes to punish you, but if you mix it up, you can bait & punish them.

I will say as a person who thinks the Mii Swordfighter is the best Mii fighter I have to say thanks for the guide I'm gonna practice pretty soon and try the new stuff I learned.
Here is a 0-to-death combo with mii swordfighter: Landing f-air=> touch the floor=> another f-air=> touch the floor=> and another f-air=> jump=> up-B if your up b is hero spin. I only done this on Mario, but it could work on others This will kill you, so if you fail, you are dead.

Subscribed. Mii sword is based. He beats the two charactors a top 5 player in my region uses, so I'm learning them in the hopes of actually giving them a game.
I always go 1322 for recovery. Go for 1332 if you want the overused kill confirm. 3223 and 2122 are guilty pleasures of mine, very fun. Neutral B 2 goes the farthest of all Swordfighter’s projectiles.
Thank you! There's actually been one change since: Mii SF's side B no longer prevents him from grabbing the ledge upon hitting someone! Mii SF now has 2 viable side B's.
Hey, I am currently maining Mii Brawler and am starting to get tired of him. I had used Mii Swordfighter before and overlooked him, simply because I didn’t know how to use him. I feel that I’ve got a good start on using Mii Brawler and I would love to see a video on him so that I could maybe learn how to use him at his best! 😁
I actually wanted to continue these videos but... this is my 4th controller in less than a yeah that started getting snaback after 1-2 month of usage. Made me lose a tournament too among other things by B-reversing a tornado (so in the wrong direction), leaving me wide open for a hard punish. As such, nervous characters like Mii Brawler are kinda hard for me to train... and well, it sapped me of my will. Still, if you want to use Mii Brawler, I suggest training their kill setups, or you'll really struggle to take stocks. Landing weak N-air => up-smash is one of them. B-air is one of your main kill moves, so it's very useful for ledgetrapping, though N-air tends to be more versatile and mentally corners your opponent by covering most options. Mii Brawler is the fastest mii, so make use of that speed to look for opportunities. Your reach is short but you've got no lag and are fast, so you should wait to get closer then apply your strong pressure. Once MB gets the ball rolling, they can be pretty overbearing like most rushdown characters. What you need the most is patience. Be patient, find the opportunity, apply pressure and play into your strengths. Your recovery is pretty bad--think of MB like Little Mac with actual aerials--that's why patience is key with characters like this. Like I said, I wanted to make more videos so I did do some research but Nintendo making crappy controllers ruined it for me... yay for joycon drift and snapback! Still, I hope I could help you anyway :)
Great video, as I wanted to learn how to better take advantage of Mii Sword. Word of advice, always edit with headphones. The music is so loud, it's sometimes hard to hear you. I recommend re-uploading it after it's mixed properly.
Hmm I figured I'd set the music to a low enough volume. I'll keep it in mind for the next times, thanks. Can't remix it though, I had to free space - hundreds of replays take a lot of GBs.
So this is how I became a mii sword fighter main Made a character called discount. His move set was that of a fire emblem character Neutral b: burning barrage (chargeable neutral) Side b: gale stab (Ike) Up b: stone scabbard (ike) Down b: counter (pretty much all of them) I played him as a joke. Got good with him. And this is how I ended up here
I will make a list of movements for the Mii Swordfighter that I would like to see in a future Smash game, movements that refer to other characters from different fighting games or swords.
Wait, Gale Stab is bad? I've been using it pretty well so far, especially when you're using Blurring Blade as well, as their charge up animations are extremely similar and tend to spook players, or baiting them into getting behind you, which you can then dash away from (GS) or reverse and punish (BB).
First, I'm not saying it's unusable. You can definitely steal stocks with it... but compared to the other side specials, it's simply less viable. Like I've shown in the video, it sends you into freefall without grabbing the ledge if it "hits" (sometimes it doesn't) someone. Terrible recovery. Its one redeeming quality is its high kill power, but better player will either shield it or land on a platform, then punish you.
Gale strike can cross up on sheild too if really close and gives you an easy 30 percent if you do it twice or three times match up dependant. I use it also for high recovery with platforms or hit above their sheild if for a cross up and you can ledge hop and gale strike.
Sadly no. Most notable "buff" was for Blurring Blade, so that its multihit is more consistent... and little else if anything. Even though they'd definitely need one.
Where do YOU think Mii Swordfighter is on the Tier list? My first impressions make me believe he's a high tier like Mii Gunner but it is just my first impressions. P.S. The reason I basically said that Mii Gunner is a high tier character is because Katakiri (best Mii Gunner player) and I just know alot about Gunner.
Copied this from discord It is like Samus' Homing and Power Missile. You Tilt the Control Stick + Special for Slow Chakram and Smash the Control Stick + Special for Fast Chakram. Basically tilts = slow chakram except you use B
All of us at the orphanage main Mii Swordfighter! Mii Swordfighter is perfect for orphans with no parents to teach them that Mii Swordfighter is autistic. I definitely reccomend Mii Swordfighter!
Both tornado and aerial assault are slow options. Since Mii SF is fairly slow in their approach, you need to at least swap tornado for shuriken, or the roll for either chakram or the quick stab. Access to a quick option is crucial to extend your threat zone. I have a video in mind to talk abou tthe different movesets but for now I'm busy so that's the best advice I can give you without dictating how you should be playing. You do you, but do know that without at least one quick option, your Mii SF won't be as viable.
I think it's a giod id to explain all the "B" of thé caracteur and not tol us tu take this attak or this one. You show the good point of all the capacity. Continu like
@@leafs8295 Thanks, I've never liked people saying "you should pick this". Everyone plays differently. Let them choose and pick what they want, just tell them the + and - for everything.
I agree with this. I never thought about using blurring blade due to the ability to easily DI out of it but with the 4.0.0 update making that impossible I think this has some potential in a good amount of match ups.
@@TwelveTables Blurring Blade is actually my neutral B of choice. Charging it before landing completely breaks the flow, changing the rhythm drastically and with only 50 frames to fully charge and 6 frames to unleash it (whether forward or turnaround), it can be very devastating and with more consistency thanks to the 4.0.0 update.
It honestly depends on you and what you want: Best for offence/out of shield: Hero Spin Best for recovery overall: Skyward Slash Dash Middle ground: Stone Scabbard Why middle ground? Well, you're invulnerable frames 5-12 but only hit starting frame 13, slower than Hero Spin at frame 8. It sports some killing power and can spike, but Hero Spin is stronger (and easier to land). While the best for vertical recovery (+ it propels you much faster towards the ledge = less time to react and edgeguard you), it lacks the versatility of Skyward Slash Dash, making your recovery more linear and predictible. Hence why it's a middle ground up b.
Involving the current worldwide movepool for Swordfighter, I think it’s highly overrated. Gale Strike takes way too much time to use and you can use Stone Scabbard at the ledge to do the same thing, meaning you have a better recovery plus Shurikens for Neutral. 2112 is easily better then 1131/1132.

- up tilt leads only into itself if you get the front hit at a pretty specific window (25-40% roughly)
however if you get a reverse up tilt (getting the 4th or 5th active frame of it) you can combo into back air at mid-ish % (40-70) and up air around 65 - 85%
- F-air 1, meaning you land just after hitting the first hit for F-air to cancel it, can lead into up tilt and up smash, as well as dash attack and ftilt depending on the character you're facing, at any% since it has no knockback growth
Huh. You actually make this character look good.
Edit: I now have mii swordfighter in elite smash let’s gooo
Thanks for the video, Soon I'm going to play Isaac and my dog at the same time *WELL*
Subscribed. Mii sword is based. He beats the two charactors a top 5 player in my region uses, so I'm learning them in the hopes of actually giving them a game.
Oh? Which characters are those?
I always go 1322 for recovery. Go for 1332 if you want the overused kill confirm. 3223 and 2122 are guilty pleasures of mine, very fun. Neutral B 2 goes the farthest of all Swordfighter’s projectiles.
This was a very well done video! Congrats, you earned a sub.
Thanks! But more than the sub, I hope that video helped you!
Ok, this guide is amazing. I'm casual and not trying to get really good but this is still a really useful guide!
Thank you! There's actually been one change since: Mii SF's side B no longer prevents him from grabbing the ledge upon hitting someone! Mii SF now has 2 viable side B's.
Hear me out on this one: through Mii Swordfighter, you can finally play as "Issac" from Golden Sun
Not bad, not bad at all.
Travis is Mii Costume.
I've already accepted my fate.
I love mii sword 2113 its so fun.
It may bw the best combo too.
Thnx 4 the guide it comfims some stuff i thought about aswell as some i dint know.
Glad it helped you!
So this is how I became a mii sword fighter main
Made a character called discount.
His move set was that of a fire emblem character
Neutral b: burning barrage (chargeable neutral)
Side b: gale stab (Ike)
Up b: stone scabbard (ike)
Down b: counter (pretty much all of them)
I played him as a joke. Got good with him. And this is how I ended up here
I will make a list of movements for the Mii Swordfighter that I would like to see in a future Smash game, movements that refer to other characters from different fighting games or swords.
Nice guide man you should upload again
Fantastic guide!
you played a mii fighter
NOW APOLOGISE TO ALL THE SOULS YOU MADE SUFFER
This video was a blessing
If this has helped you, then making that video was worth it!
Still hoping they fix gale stab ledge grabbing.
two of the few moves that make it thru tornado are charzairds side attack thingy and the yellow banana side attack that banjo has
Wait, Gale Stab is bad?
Thank you for the video! It has been a while since you made this. Has sword fighter had any big buffs or nerfs since then?
Sadly no. Most notable "buff" was for Blurring Blade, so that its multihit is more consistent... and little else if anything. Even though they'd definitely need one.
@@ChaosSolak I appreciate the answer!
Cool video man
Where do YOU think Mii Swordfighter is on the Tier list? My first impressions make me believe he's a high tier like Mii Gunner but it is just my first impressions. P.S. The reason I basically said that Mii Gunner is a high tier character is because Katakiri (best Mii Gunner player) and I just know alot about Gunner.
Very nice job !
Any tips for hitting soft chakram throw consistently
Copied this from discord
It is like Samus' Homing and Power Missile. You Tilt the Control Stick + Special for Slow Chakram and Smash the Control Stick + Special for Fast Chakram.
Basically tilts = slow chakram except you use B
I'm a gunner main along with the swordfghter
this video is a banger
This is Isaw level guid yo.
At this point I might just say screw it and main Brawler, Gunner and Swordfighter.
I wish gale stab could sweetspot ledges. It would be a good move if you could.
it can now, shh :)
So what’s the best special to chose?
When are you going to make a video again and what is your twitter
gale stab is the best side spec imo
All of us at the orphanage main Mii Swordfighter! Mii Swordfighter is perfect for orphans with no parents to teach them that Mii Swordfighter is autistic. I definitely reccomend Mii Swordfighter!
Ever since I started maining Mii Swordfighter, social distancing has never been so easy!
I think my funnest set to use is 1122
But competitively what should I run?
Both tornado and aerial assault are slow options. Since Mii SF is fairly slow in their approach, you need to at least swap tornado for shuriken, or the roll for either chakram or the quick stab. Access to a quick option is crucial to extend your threat zone.
I have a video in mind to talk abou tthe different movesets but for now I'm busy so that's the best advice I can give you without dictating how you should be playing. You do you, but do know that without at least one quick option, your Mii SF won't be as viable.
use down air alot, its really strong
I think it's a giod id to explain all the "B" of thé caracteur and not tol us tu take this attak or this one. You show the good point of all the capacity. Continu like
Like this !!!
@@leafs8295 Thanks, I've never liked people saying "you should pick this". Everyone plays differently. Let them choose and pick what they want, just tell them the + and - for everything.
Yeah and this IS very good
I agree with this.
What is the best up B for swordie? Hero spin or?
It honestly depends on you and what you want:
Best for offence/out of shield: Hero Spin
Best for recovery overall: Skyward Slash Dash
Middle ground: Stone Scabbard
Why middle ground? Well, you're invulnerable frames 5-12 but only hit starting frame 13, slower than Hero Spin at frame 8. It sports some killing power and can spike, but Hero Spin is stronger (and easier to land).
While the best for vertical recovery (+ it propels you much faster towards the ledge = less time to react and edgeguard you), it lacks the versatility of Skyward Slash Dash, making your recovery more linear and predictible.
Hence why it's a middle ground up b.
Can you do a mii brother 🥊
Amazing guide but upload more this is your only guide video.
mii sword is a better gunner than mik gunner
Involving the current worldwide movepool for Swordfighter, I think it’s highly overrated. Gale Strike takes way too much time to use and you can use Stone Scabbard at the ledge to do the same thing, meaning you have a better recovery plus Shurikens for Neutral. 2112 is easily better then 1131/1132.
I am a god at miis unlike you mortals
I am that bored
Man I can barely heard u
No you don't.
First
Aww shucks thanks doggy, I feel so special now!
