The A9 is a camera and the Coolpix is just a telescope, a good one, take anywhere. But they are not in the same league, both have strong points but not really comparable, I do like the Coolpix it sill blows me away with what you can't see and then its there. The A9 is a Pro Camera. But an interesting comparison.
I was confused. I thought SONY would have better imagine quality instead of Nikon P1000 which only has very small sensor inside the body. Nikon is now on my shopping list.
Bruce, for your information about Nikon, at a zoomed distance it loses focus and picture quality and no longer it is a 4K image or video resolution. I had one and returned it back to store because of misleading information that at 6 kilometers you can see people, etc., in 4K quality. That is false. The picture at that distance starts to become something like a 144p or 260p or 480p, depending on how far away you're looking at the target.

This comparison was based upon zoom quality and the P1000 is way better, but if you want to compare specs...then Z7 would annihilate the A9 out of the water. P1000 is an all in one and I'll never have to carry multiple lenses with me ever again.

The P1000 shoots 4K from 24-3000mm eqiv so how is it not a camera ? I take it on my mountain bike rides and get great 4K videos and photos with it.

P1000を 使ってて良く思うのは 光量が充分に有って、ピントが合ってくれれば かなりの物！。
ただ ピントが合わない‥‥。
かなり迷う上に合わない。（動画と同様。最初のシーンでは後ろの枝に合焦している。後のはズーミングでピントが外れたまま。スチルでも同様です。スポット測距をお薦めします。短い方は実際 4.3ミリなので、かなりボケてくれません。笑。風景では開放で殆どパンフォーカス状態です。笑）
暗く成るとなると直ぐにピントが合わなく成る。
また、メーカー推薦の ISO800では逆光でも、シャドー部が ベタァ～と成ります。
ISO400までが自分では限界だとしている‥‥。
いつも 持ち歩けるので 金無しで 出不精な 私には良いカメラのかも‥‥。（笑）
一台で24～3000ミリ換算は楽だし、光学系が一つなので返って良いかも知れない‥‥。（24ミリ換算側、SDカードをPC直刺しでデ－ターUPすると、カメラを介するより伝送が かなり早いです。ただ、WindowsのフォトでRAWデーターを見るとイメージサークルが小さく外側が黒くなり、樽形収差 酷いです。笑。メーカー無料配布の RAW現像ソフト使用をお勧めします。補正してくれてる様です。笑。超広角が 20～18ミリ換算だと かなり良いと思います。超望遠側 少し短くしても良いですから。笑）
動画では 4Kで使う素子数での大きな変化は無いだろうが、スチルにすると‥‥。（笑。クロップ使ったり、トリミングしたりすれば大差ないかな？。間違っても電子ズームを使っちゃいけない‥‥。笑。RAW現像ソフトが かなり中間画素を書き足してくれる感じがします。笑）
