Well we might have been to early for the holograms, but we still have the Duel Disk possiblity........ just revamp the Switch a bit, and Arc V's disk becomes the idea he just suggested
That be funny. It would be like seeing an accident on the road, and asking someone what happened and they would be like "some asshole was standing in the middle of the road dueling someone on the sidewalk until he got pancaked by a car going 90"
I will never forget going to the park with my best friend and playing dramatic Yugi games with our duel disks. We said that depending on the terrain on the park, it was a different field that will boost a certain monster type stats. Epic memories.
My friend and I may have been the first people to turbo duel. Right as the first episode of 5ds airs back then we instantly duct taped out duel disks to our bikes and rode around the block repetitively while dueling. It was pretty cool bit the speed counter thing got confusing after a while

If technology was that far along we'd also have ready player one levels of vr and you could just play yugioh and star wars in an almost real life setting so we wouldn't need actual ones, it's getting closer to that and hopefully one day it will be a reality
@@PHOENIX-wr9ob as much as i love both star wars and yugioh i very strongly beleive they should not make laser swords that can actually cut anything on this planet there is alot that can go wrong. yes i know its called a lightsaber but i couldnt think of away to better explain than laser sword. same with blasters because those would be more dangerous than actual guns. on the other hand i do enjoy that u agree with me about the holoprojectors for monsters that would make competitive battling so much more immersive
With new duel discs with RFID or something that can detect what cards you play, and then you display the dueling arena to spectators via a camera with real time AR so it appears to the audience that the players are dueling with holograms. Obviously the players wouldn't see any monsters though.
Bruh imagine sinking an irresponsible amount of money into a projection rig to have pngs of the cards used in a duel displayed on the floor between duelists? It'd be so unnecessary but it sounds like it'd be fun lmao
It’s possible if the Konami and don’t spends some money on upgrading duel disks to make the hologram technology they will sell disks all around the world it will become like yu gi oh anime then after few centuries it will evolve to turbo dueling
i am imagining his "battle royal" scenario where when the bottom 5 are eliminated, they are brought into a separate room decorated like the shadow realm. likely with snacks or something.
Don't do it to someone with spiky hair. He'll challenge you, get his card back mid-duel, and either turn you into a comic-relief and/or a forgetable villain for worst case scenario or best scenario: the cooler rival.
When he mentioned having two tredmills facing each other, all I could think was how that would allow two duelists to walk at each other Jojo style the entire duel without having to back up at all.
Actually, the technology we have now does have quite a bit invested into augmented reality. The duel disk you were describing with a little touch screen device that could display the field would work fine and all you need for augmented reality is a headset that has proprietary software meant for using the application for viewing the cards and monsters come to life. All in all the devices could come up to about $800+ for the headset, which would be nothing more than a lens that went in front of the user's face, and probably about $300 per duel disk. All the duel disk would be is a combination of a touch screen device about 6x4 inches in dimensions and the actual disk itself. it wouldn't need overly powerful processors for it. Just a good battery. 3000 mAh should be fine and put a micro-USB port on it for charging/possible online play. The Duel Disks made in the past actually DID have a spot for the extra deck-- it was in the 5D's edition which was a small little compartment that pulled out. It was able to hold about 16 cards (with sleeves).... but that wouldn't make it in today's era with pendulum monsters. Also there can be a possible revision on the max limit of extra deck monsters in the future... with links I am actually on board with them ramping the number of extra deck monsters from 15 to 18. A lot of decks weren't exactly happy with having to replace some of their good extra deck strats just for the ability to play their hands. To me I feel like the best first steps to this would be to just make a touch screen duel disk. Start small. I know we HAVE the technology for augmented reality, but is it affordable? For most duelists, no. A touch screen duel disk would be plenty feasible for starting off. Once the technology for augmented reality comes to cheaper production prices, we can advance to using a headset and duel disk for yugioh, but for now, it just isn't feasible for konami... but myself included and probably many other people would be on board for a duel disc with a small tablet embedded that supported MR4. Just make the blade slightly wider, with the zones imprinted on the blade, and program the device to be voice activated to hear for cards. Just punch in the cards in your deck and when the disk hears you say something like "I special summon Blue Eyes Alternative White Dragon", it will recognize the card in your deck, and you can place the monster in whichever zone you wish, in which case sensors on the disk blade can respond to the device and it will appear on the screen. A finger stroke can pull up all the card's information, legality status (how many possible in one deck rather) and for certain cards, it can keep up with counters. I hated running out of dice running Endymion way back in the day. This can be seen sort of like YGOPro but on your arm and you play physical cards. The GY can be a compartment that would be located under the duel disk touch screen device. It should be probably about 4" deep and 62x90 mm. Just big enough that it gives your cards some slack, but tight enough that it wouldn't pop out accidentally and spill your cards all over the floor. For banished cards the duel disk should be able to adjust the monsters in your graveyard in order to apply the appropriate new placement of the cards. Like if someone used D/D Necro Slime in the GY and banished it with another D/D monster, it should recognize that you used this effect and it would apply that banished property to the monsters that were banished. as far as the motivation for Konami goes, if they become the first card game to come up with a plan to make dueling much more interactive and hands on, especially in a manner that goes along with their shows, not only will they sell more cards to newcomers, but they'll also make a lot of money selling duel disks of such I just described.
Definitely possible, but remember: This is Konami, and there is NO way they are going to invest so much into what might just be a gimmick. We all know how Konami is.
Since Yuma never used all 99 numbers in one duel, how do we know he actually puts all of them in his extra deck instead of the 15 most likely he'll probably use?
@@weedragonauts4729 we don't know, but is funnier to think he use 99+ cards extra deck, like the 2222 cards deck used by the delinquent duo in that one event
@@CaseyJonasCatt I remember that at one point the rule was 15 cards or none in the extra deck, but it's possible that the fusion deck at the time could have more than 15, because in the early days there was no card limit in your deck
@@devastatheseeker9967 What are you talking about? The Nintendo 3DS could do it back in 2011. You could have a 3D model of Mario right above the card you put down in front of the 3DS camera. The Google Glass can do the same thing, since it has a built in camera.
@@Medbread yeah but it's limited. You have to look at the thing directly and within a certain distance for it to work. Ar just isn't where it needs to be to actually be engaging for long periods of time
Devasta The Seeker so? That is the point of the duel gazer too, it’s basically ar cards in the form of a monocle. Your point is null as that is how it works in zexal.
I was born with one arm and was gifted a Battle City style duel disk. Wasn’t able to use it as intended but I thoroughly enjoyed using it with my cards. Your comment about having a duel disk for someone like me thrilled me. You’re great at what you do, mate. Keep up the wonderful content.
The best way to bring yugioh into as much reality as possible is to make it virtual reality. Like you would put on the VR that would make the cards you play come into life
There are a couple Yu-Gi-Oh VR games. Was just watching some videos earlier today. Not super high quality or made by Konami or anything, but still pretty cool. One is in VR chat, and idk the name of the other one.
I'm just waiting for Zexal's Duel Gazer. Would actually solve a lot of the Duel Disk problems, too, you could pull up your opponent's card text, Link monster layout, etc. on your HUD.
You’d have to reprint copies of every single card with some card scanning stuff to actually use the ar and capabilities you wrote tho. Reset the yugioh card market.
@@6dm978 It may be easier but it would not be necessary. Visual scan to match to a database would work just fine. Heck, the 3DS can do that, albeit with a much smaller card selection for a free minigame.
@@Hypershell not too much smaller, there were over 1000 ar cards printed which work. most of them were never released on large scale, and a few were never released at all. the kid icarus series (over 100 cards) even can battle and have distinct stats
In the anime/manga Kaiba's company was the one who developed a prototype dual disk (the first ever modern dual disk) that looks like a throwable semi rectangular gadget that the duelist will slot their card they would play to the field, kinda like the ghost capture trap used in Ghostbusters with a cable connected to a hand gauntlet that stores the duelist's entire deck. The throwable rectangle thingy in question is basically somekind of holographic projector that emits a beam upwards that project a visualization of the said monster or the spell/trap card was slotted into it. Frankly, I could see something like this being possible with already current existing technology however it certainly wouldn't be something that would be feasible to bring it to the masses due primary to the sheer cost of developing, producing and maintaining it in real-life.
It would be cool to have an AI kind of keep track of everything and make sure there's no illegal shenanigans going on. Like when Kaiba had 6 dragons instead of 5 and would've won with shining dragon if the writers hadn't miscalculated. Just need to make a duel disk that can recognize the cards and auto shuffle.
Actually, yeah. Literally nothing stopping that. You could have all cards in the game be coded into the game but decks are pre registered and passed out by name. You could have, for the duels, one person in one spot, another in another, and a few other places that would be displayed on TV screens. Hard part would be modeling all the monsters and coding all the effects but a season 1 of duel monsters version could be fairly easily made. Microsoft, get on it.
one thing is definitely the banished zone, in the anime zane literally just throws cards onto the ground, which i dont think is very good for the cards
@@BatFan_Attic But it was a battle royale, because in the original version people being sent to the shadow realm were in fact just dead, the shadow realm was invented by 4Kids.
@@LunaLenaCh Well the fact that everybody that was sent to the Shadow Realm is in fact Dead. The Shadow Realm already existed in the Original Yu-Gi-Oh manga, even before the Yu-Gi-Oh we know and love, saying that it was Invented by 4Kids feels like an Insult to the Original Creator.
That'd be annoying for consumers BUT I do think that's a great answer to the question of how to make it worth it for Konami; because now they could in fact sell sleeves themselves specifically compatible with the duel disk and presumably license others to do that as well. One thing I am curious about though is how this works with the deck itself because would the cards be magnetized to each other? It'd make the deck itself hold better if that's the case but shuffling also might be a pain depending.
We need duel disks. It's been 23 years since Yu-Gi-Oh started, I think it's time. When they can, (and want to) they can do holograms. Just imagine summoning blue-eyes alternative ultimate dragon, and it appears before you. Plus, we already have voice command technology (Amazon echo), we just need holograms.
Making 20 hours combos physically unviable? Sounds like a bonus, any player that want to make a huge combo would also need to be healty enough to stand the process. That said, combo players will be extin-
Frederick Douglass better duel disk kits. Basically my idea is kinda like those wooden car kits if you were in scouts. @@balancemaster55 i'm pretty sure that a billionaire bored enough could just invest in konami enough to be part of the directives or some shit like that, say "let's make real duel disk, i will finance them" and done
The first ark of the original YuGiOh anime is legitimately a battle royale. Everyone gets boated to an island and they ambushed players in fields that gave them advantages.
RIGHT. that would be so cool to be invited to a tournament on a remote island. (Kazuki Takahashi) that's right. We need a boat, and we could do a tournament on an island. (Me) yea, and that would be more incentive to buy cards and compete in tournaments (paying money to get in) and the best get invited to the island. That could be where world championships are held!
Here’s the thing tho, they’d of course have to provide our needs which could get into problems. I imagine they’d have to rent out an entire island equipped with places to stay, food, etc. And logically we’d probably want some internet connection which would get really expensive when we add of these things together. And the factor of people being able to cheat, though when entering you’d get 2 lives sorta downloaded onto your duel disk/phone and they get added or subtracted based on winning, that kinda thing
@@technosword-hg4bm look he also stole the soul of yugus grandfather via a cursed vcr and toon land was pretty much the way he cheated by tooning his monster cards that card also beat Kiba. And don't get me started on Wevel Underwood that guy is inta ban for messing with a competitivers deck via destroying Exodia and suck getting the rule book the good news is that Yami the spirit of the millennial puzzle and Yugi beat both Wevel Underwood and Maxamillion Pegasus. Hence my reason to want them banned for all of eternity
A way you could do it is by having a duel disk with a part to hold a phone which has an app with a database of cards and tracks life points and what cards have been used in order of when it was activated, destroyed, summoned etc along with cards currently in play and effect. This is recorded by a third person (to make things easier) who acts as a ref and keeps track of turns, cards and chains. The person using the app no-matter if they are the ref or the player can check what has happened previously to have a better idea of the board and play accordingly.
TBH at that point you're almost as well off making something akin to ZeXaL's Duel Gazers. And there should never, EVER, *EVER* have to be a reliance on a third party member. Simply sync the phones pre-duel and handle those things digitally.
A computer(basically the server) that stores the game history and sends out model data, card info, lp, and deck/gy/extra/banished size. That way anyone who has the app besides the two players can view the game. Players would only need a bluetooth duel disk and phone with a headset being optional. The duel disk has a camera on a track to move towards activated card zones and scan the card, and automatic card stack dispensers that sends a signal when a card is added or removed. New card sleeves(if normal ones already don't) that trigger capacitive touch would probably need to be made and the app would control card placement.
I think a VR Yu-Gi-Oh game would be an amazing way of reintroducing duel disks! it could make everything feel way more like the show, introduce holograms and a more stage-like performance, and the audience could be way more engaged both in-game and through livestreams. tournaments could possibly break out into a more mainstream audience and grow the fan base as well 😮
@@justinnelson5960 exactly, thats actually something that can be done with technology we have available today. And its mostly affordable. I'd buy a VR set just for yugioh. Definitely worth it.
30 monsters in the extra deck or as it was known back then the fusion deck was the max with the main deck being a maximum of 80 which was a really slow deck size and was reduced to maximum 60 for main and 15 for extra until pendulum arrived which now allows for the extra deck to Go beyond 15 but must still have 15 or under at the start

Something to think about, with the Arc-V Duel Disks, having a virtual card bank could definitely work, being able to display card effects, and building up decklists. It’d make it easier to collect cards that way, or at the very least streamline it so that you have a list on hand for what cards your looking for

Fun tournament idea: Battle royal style. Players start with 8000 life points but 0 cards in decks! And all around the duel arena are various cards. (Kind of like in arc V) but you have to build your deck as you go. Decks of 40 only. One game elimination! BUT Your life points don’t reset! there are healing cards throughout the arena as well. There could be multiple levels in the arena and the higher you physically climb - the stronger the cards got! There would be elemental themed cards in areas that make sense like in the forested areas there could be insect and plant type cards, near bodies of water you’d find water type cards, etc. (Like in duelists Kingdom) And there would be rare burn spells that deal direct damage to your opponent! That would be single use only - so like you’d have them as part of your 40 but then use them and it would become blacked out or unreadable or something so people can’t play those anymore. And once you have a deck of 40 you can challenge players- but if they decline to play (for whatever reason) they take 1000 points of damage then the challenger can’t challenge that player again - so your not like hunting down players trolling them. But you have to be within 5 meters to challenge them - so there would be elements of like athletics, dodging, sniping, ambushing, parkour, climbing, and no one would have stupid powerful decks from the outset - because they all start on the first floor with 0 cards. Until all but one player stands victorious!!!!! What do you all think?
John GhostHunter hololens would be better for it, since Microsoft already made Minecraft for it and there are some youtubers with the hololens who just for the fun of it made it competable with a standard dueldisk
I also love the idea of the duel disk being hooked up to smart glasses that allow you to see the monsters in augmented reality (like in Xexal) And an ear piece or headphones that are built into the glasses that allows you to hear both the other player as well as the monsters.
I just realized that a cellphone app and a cellphone holder in the duel disk would do anything a monitor can do, reduce the duel disk price and allow interactivity
They should do a vr game. Where you create an avatar and customize a duel disk, then you can duel and interact with other duelists around the world. They can also have the monsters and stuff show up on the field just like in the show.
When I was a kid I was obsessed with Yugioh and got my hands on two Battle City Duel Disks. I thought "this is gonna be awesome, now we can duel anywhere just like in the show, this is gonna revolutionize dueling!". When I showed my friends my duel disks, rather than share my enthusiasm they were all like "wtf you get a duel disk for? ur gay brah" so I got my dad to sell them on ebay.
The holographic duel disks would be cool but scary because imagine odd eyes pendulume dragon appearing on you opponents side of the field attack you with a fiery breath
I remember seeing once that someone was in the process of making a Google Glasses app that played Yu-Gi-Oh similarly to that of a duel disk. Dunno whatever happened to that project.
@Ai7A IRAl yes indeed, especially since google AI are so powerful now, i mean geez just look at everything they can do, these guys have been training them since day 1 hahaha
@Ai7A IRAl hahaha quantum computing... my computer science teacher bet that there won't be anything like that ready before his death hahaha (he was quite old tho so I still have a little bit of hope... I hope he juste loose his bet, please don't die Prof. Lenstra 🙏🏼)
@Ai7A IRAl btw I'm sorry to lower your expectations and be the not funny guy to tell you this but a computer does not think. A computer computes. It computes what the humans programmed it to compute. A famous quote that's written on a wall of my college (I'm a cs major btw) is "Computers do what we understand well enough to teach them" (it's not exactly that but the meaning stay the same). If we don't get how something work, we'll hardly ever see that implemented somewhere. Unfortunately, I don't think we will see full conscious AI that can think by themselves in this era before a looooong while. But we can still dream 😊
Virtual Reality could actually be very useful in this, day you have a headset that connects to your duel disk via Bluetooth or something. Then you connect both headsets/headgear with your opponent and it generates images of the card plays based on the moves you play on your disk. That would be an amazing start
I had an idea for a duel disk that could work with todays technology. Basically on the duel disk there would be a slightly bigger display in the middle of the disc section where the life point meter usually is. This screen would display your opponents duel field in the same way the duel runners in 5ds does as well as both players life points and would connect via a bluetooth-like software. The duel disk itself would have scanners in the monster and spell/trap zones. they would scan the code under the card picture on the right side and make said card appear on the screen (since all yugioh cards have this code and they are all unique they could be added to a database). Of course there would need to be a lot more software to register tribute summons properly as well as all the different extra deck summons as well as chain rules etc but it wouldn't be that difficult it would just take some time and many bug fix updates. This idea would essentially merge duel links with the tcg in a way, allowing you to play physical cards that register in the virtual environment on the screen. Furthermore, this would open up options for things like cgi monster models as well as battle animations and effect animations for spells and traps. This would be as close as we could get to yugioh in real life and if it happened i think it would be a great success. Wrote this before i heard his idea which is almost the same XD Guess everyone has had this idea haha. As for the question of how konami could make money off of this, the duel disk software would have user profiles for everyone in the same way xbox and playstation do and players would have to pay for monthly/yearly subscriptions and maybe extra features like having monster models and animations instead of just an image of the card could cost money for each model/animation in the same way other games sell skins they would sell models and animations.
“Your opponent would have to come over and look at the card” Or just go full anime and explain what every card you play does. Or rather in some very special cases don’t like the first instance of a wedge counter from Blackwing Armormaster in 5ds x/3
Honestly a Yu-Gi-Oh phone game that is like Pokemon go but you can battle other players in real time and visit places to get card packs sounds pretty rad
@@michaelcarfaro2091 No I think micheal was referring to making a yuigoh game in the similar vein as pokemon go. collect cards in the wildnerness. then duel people. if you win you take a card from their deck. some areas in the ar could be shops to buy more cards. sounds awesome. Konami please do it for android
I seem to recall the first Japanese Duel Disk unfolded to reveal a full play field of monsters and spell/trap field. That way you didn't have to slide the cards in and out of the slots anytime you wanted to look at them
salvsin boi This actually seems like something that can be done even today, hell if you put the technology from pokemon go, the augmented reality thingy (if we use ar+ this would be evem better) into a vr device this could actually work
Look all you need to do is buy two Switch, sync them up like a 3DS top screen and bottom screen, then set up the joycons as card holders usable for the zones on the side Anime Style Duel Disk made for everyone to use in no more than 40h time to set up........... though the card scanner and catalog might turn it into at least a 6-14 month job
I think the best way to do it would be to have a recording broadcast of the disks and overlay them on a screen everyone can look at. It solves the issue of zone pointing with link cards, specific card callouts or effects, and makes it easy for an audience to follow if they can just look up to the reference board
You'll need a really expensive power source to run holograms like a duel disc. I could see an actual system like in the original anime where each player has a table and a large projector between them
casinos have high tech cameras that can read exactly which cards are where, without ever having seen the face of the card, so maybe something similar could be used in identifying cards?
I hope so too, buddy. :) And hey, you can try the next best thing right now. Some people have gotten together and made a VR version, and it's quite impressive so far! Just need some VR equipment and you'll be good to go. :P
Modular duel disks would be amazing. Like, a base 3-zone disk with detachable end zones and outer zones. There would be attachments that let you choose to mix and match era styles
Something ive always thought about Yu-Gi-Oh is that IF it dies, it would reborn when technology evolves which is so Cool, since how many games die and be reborn. So Yu-Gi-Oh is a Pheonix. It is just great to think that this game has a future, but when the future comes to us!
Would it, though? I feel like what the game really needs isn't new technology, it's rule changes to make Link Summon stuff suck less while also making it impossible to win on your first turn of the game. If you just upgrade the technology then you're just putting a coat of paint over an already flawed game.

Magnetic sleeves. It was my idea to use magnets to make a viable duel disk. Duel terminal cards also have qr codes so the terminal can recognise the cards. AR dueling was also introduced in a japaneese 2017 world championship exhibition match.
It was always established in the anime that the cards have little microchips in them that the machines can read. So I think NFC cards would do the trick. The tricky part would be getting it to recognize card rotation and face direction i think. But maybe if you make it small enough, you could put it in a single part of the card, and have a few sensors. Whichever one it's closest to, that determines the way the card is set to the system. yugioh.fandom.com/wiki/Solid_Vision
@@DrewArdner NFC could work, if the chip is in a corner then orientation can be read by wich sensor is picking it up. Like splitting the cards in quadrants. If nfc sleeves are made then the deck info can be added to the software and the cards can be put in manually on the software side. (This would make older cards retroactively available.) Magnets and nfc though...might be a problem.
@@cookiethehungry Not that much of a problem for the NFC, I think. There already is NFC paper cards, a few adjustments would probably make it work. They would need to reproduce all the older cards tho. And the costs wouldn't be that much higher either, with them owning the facilities, the cost per car would probably be 1.5x or 2x higher than its current price (0.03$ at most), which is nothing compared to everything else they need to pay before they can release these. What cost them the most are Artworks, designs, play-testing and so-on; not the cards themselves...
When it comes to the extra monster zones, there would probably be a thing that pops out like with the field card zone. The question I have to ask is how they would do the banish pile since that wouldn't work when you can have 30 or 40 cards banished at once. The zone that pops out wouldn't work for an entire pile. You'd need another area like the GY.
A bit funny to imagine IRL duel disks that have to take into account all this stuff since, in the show, each disk seems to have some sort of computer inside that automatically gives you cards if it's supposed to be random, automatically shuffle, automatically move cards in and out of the graveyard, etc.

One thing I am curious about though is how this works with the deck itself because would the cards be magnetized to each other? It'd make the deck itself hold better if that's the case but shuffling also might be a pain depending.

Its a good idea but then tehnicaly you need three persons to duel

Table
Fun tournament idea:
Battle royal style.
Players start with 8000 life points but 0 cards in decks!
And all around the duel arena are various cards. (Kind of like in arc V) but you have to build your deck as you go.
Decks of 40 only.
One game elimination!
BUT
Your life points don’t reset! there are healing cards throughout the arena as well.
There could be multiple levels in the arena and the higher you physically climb - the stronger the cards got!
There would be elemental themed cards in areas that make sense like in the forested areas there could be insect and plant type cards, near bodies of water you’d find water type cards, etc.
(Like in duelists Kingdom)
And there would be rare burn spells that deal direct damage to your opponent!
What do you all think?
when you take damage a needle sticks you in the arm..
idk I'm just brainstorming

The solution is a dedicated monitor behind each duelist showing the cards they have played
I think the solution would be to have AR glasses link to your duel disk to display your cards
Yes, a little display that shows the card placed

I just realized that a cellphone app and a cellphone holder in the duel disk would do anything a monitor can do, reduce the duel disk price and allow interactivity

They should do a vr game. Where you create an avatar and customize a duel disk, then you can duel and interact with other duelists around the world. They can also have the monsters and stuff show up on the field just like in the show.

I could see an actual system like in the original anime where each player has a table and a large projector between them
In the manga it’s even more realistic! They had just a normal table inside a box that creates holograms right on the table
casinos have high tech cameras that can read exactly which cards are where, without ever having seen the face of the card, so maybe something similar could be used in identifying cards?

(This would make older cards retroactively available.) @@cookiethehungry Not that much of a problem for the NFC, I think.
@RJ Cox The size of the extra deck would be the only problem pendulums cause. The same problem as the banish pile.
A bit funny to imagine IRL duel disks that have to take into account all this stuff since, in the show, each disk seems to have some sort of computer inside that automatically gives you cards if it's supposed to be random, automatically shuffle, automatically move cards in and out of the graveyard, etc.
or you could just do what they did in the show and put the banished cards in your pocket
@@nuttybuddy7928 But that could be pretty easy to cheat by just having cards in there already.
