Played a blue-eyes player who tried something like this.
Must of had all 3 maidens in opening hand or drew into them in the first 2 turns.
Turn 1 : They go first, summon maiden in attack and end turn.
Turn 2 : I draw ( I'm playing dinomist, no one knows what dinomist do) set howling and pass.
Turn 3 : They draw and I activate howling to set my scales. They summon maiden 2 special summon a monster ( I don't remember which ) link summon linkuriboh and pass.
Turn 4 : I draw and pass. This continues until turn 8.( my turn again).
Turn 8 : I draw and pendulum summon dinomist pteran and spinos. Tribute pteran to activate spinos effect( can attack twice this turn ) then activate limiter removal to double its attack to 5000.
Then activate my archetypal field spell, dinomic powerlaod.
I then wait for 10-15 seconds to let my opponent read. Then they scoop.
Why? Well the field spell reads:
" all dinomist monsters gain 300 atk/def. If a dinomist monster you control battles, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects until the end of the damage step."

Crooked Cooks fatal flaw is that to grant its protection you can’t have any other card on your field. As such it is vulnerable to piercing damage and can’t block effect damage or direct attacks.
Using astral kuriboh can make ANY number xyz card unkillable by battle or card effect however because of how xyz works it has to be rank 1 (unless you get creative), so that can bypass the one monster rule however not sp much the piercing unless the number card used blocks battle damage.

The cook is almost unbeatable, until you meet a Blue Eyes deck and the enemy spawns the chaos dragon that deals DOUBLE piercing damage
That was my point. Any monster with piercing damage can do the trick. Also you can do the "send a monster to other side's field" effect to cancel its effects.
That or even twin burst dragon for that matter. Simply banish crooked crook after it survives the attack
Still takes 2 turns to kill. Then that dragon is getting kaiju’d.

Tribrigade zoodiac - zoodiac boarbow (direct attack)
Eldlich - Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Gustav Max(burn)
Virtual world - Gaia dragon the thunder charger(piercing attack

I've only come across this once. I panicked at first and only panicked more when I realized piercing didn't work. Got around it because it's only unaffected by card effects if it's the only card on the field, using Vampire Sucker to revive graveyard monsters so I could combine King of the Skull Servants with Pentastag.

I remember this combo. The person I played against tried to use it with kaijus. Turns out, the half-assed Plant deck that I slapped together had a solution to it.
1. Use Rose Garden to get a token on my opponent's field, which negates the effect of Cook.
2. Use the kaiju that he gave to me as material for my own summons, so he can't set up.
3. Use Mark of the Rose to take control of Cook, and use it for my own twisted purposes.

There was this one time when I was playing Virtual World against Cyber Dragons.
I was getting owned, then I decided to play defensively and synchro summoned Jiujiu in defense mode. The card apparently works almost the same (Can't be destroyed by battle or card effects when you have 2 or more monster in GY with same attribute and type but different name)
I was passing the turn while laughing at my opponent's demise as he used up his only answer (called by the grave) on my Ash earlier. Eventually, he rage quitted because he doesn't have the answer to break through my Jiujiu, it was one of the funniest duel I had.
This is exactly why I run 2 jizukiru in my cyber dragon deck-
I’ve faced a similar deck and my way out was OTK Cyber End Dragon (does piercing).
this is why i put an dingirsu in my machina deck, and will probably run a couple jizukirus as well now, zeus is getting on my nerves
Funny story. I was against Salads when they pulled out an Accesscode Talker. They were about to wipe my board clear and swing for game when they realized they couldn't destroy my Jiujiu. personally i think master duel needs to implement something like edo pro does, which tells you which effects are on the card, from teh xyz's or ritual cards. true the person should have read them, but i feel like most of the time people would just leave since they dont understand why. Its more of a quality of life thing then anything.
Just a list of effects that currently apply to a card / Player / Zone could help a lot, would ensure that you can at least easily see what is going on...
When in person, the other person would generally just point out why something isn't working (just to not sit there weird while a judge gets needlessly called), so it wouldn't be striving to far away from the TCG with giving that info.
It does though, if you hover over a card with lingering effects on it, it says "Influence".
@@iszac7523 influence doesnt pertain only the lingering effects. if you hover over an xyz card no matter what it is, as long as it has materials attached it will always say influence. That doesnt help in comparison to edo pro's system of just telling you what the effects are. Also, I know its a bit nit picky, since players can use the influence to determine it, however if they dont know what they are looking for then you just harm the player base by having an over complicated UI. While if you were to just add a small feature like edo pro does, then its more intuitive for newer players and it would promote better play from everyone.

The easiest way to explain it imo is that game mechanics aren't an activated effect so you cannot respond to it, although I think a small handful of cards can still prevent you from being able to use the kaiju tribute effect. I lost a game to Yang Zing because one of their synchros prevents effects depending on the attribute for its material. They're all light monsters and I was playing CyDra so it shut my whole deck down pretty much. Couldn't tribute Jizukiru because it's also a light monster. Really it's lingering vs activated effects in a nutshell.
@@FakeHeroFang Well thats true but herald of Ultimateness can negate summons wich includes the Kaiju summon. But you can't prevent the tribute much like if you negate the activation of an effect you can't prevent the cost to be paid.
@@FakeHeroFang also yeah sure you can prevent the Kaiju summon. Read the Barrier Statues or Eater of Millions or Vanitys Emptiness for Example
@@hellowhatsup9668 kaijus tribute as summoning condition so unless theres floodgate witch prevents summons (like rivalty of warlords) you can tribute opponents monsters and play.
@@Q67-m7z yeah I know that. I never said anything different
This card is a godsend it tells you "fuck the meta" as an oldhead yugioh player, I love this card to how it is unaffected to new playstyles but I know people will just add fusions or synchros that have piercing in the future, its only a matter of time. I'm sure Konami will leave the card untouched for that sole reason
Psssst … if you want to counter extra deck add ghost reaper & winter cherries and add all the most popular counters for pierce in your extra deck and get free banishes. It’s great and free wins. I would also play astral kuriboh.
nah not many players will attempt to run outs to it, since it's not common enough of a deck to see, you're pretty safe for thr most part
@@Lucky-lt7lz lol I just did this against blue eyes for almost an hour 😂😂😂😂 he almost killed me with max dragon, but I kaijud it and I got exodia soon after lol
@@Lucky-lt7lz agreed. Unless you’re running counters for specific other cards that happen to have the same weaknesses as Cook, it won’t work
People already do run Xyzs that pierce and attack directly for Zeus purposes in almost every meta deck. Assembled Nightingale, Gaia Dragon, Downerd Magician, Boarbow...
“You can’t get rid of this monster! It’s indestructible!”
*laughs in mega fortress whale*
Ah yes, crooked cook. I remember fighting this on nexus, my friend used this on me but I had a weird bug with Phantom Knights Fogblade on nexus and i was able to negate it lmao. I had piercing cards but that was just hilarious to see.
Knowing what you own cards do is one thing, knowing what your opponents cards do is GODLY
"META SLAVES MAD" *plays crooked cooked against AMAZEMENTS*
This is quality YuGiOh entertainment. Oh how I love seeing meta players get busted
God that last duel is so beautiful to see
I like to run all my decks with 41 cards and 1 upstart goblin for consistency...
Not reading Monster card effects is the equivalent of button mashing in fighting games
if it works it works
This deck is pure evil and I love it!
I trained myself with a weird Albaz deck with sprigans, tri brigades, lightbearers? and despia. Basically all of the Albaz archetypes which led to some combos that I don’t think any other have seen. Always surprised my opponents.
It’s funny, Konami hates cards that lead to this sort of deck so it’s entirely possible that cook will be banned because it causes degenerate play.
just play dino
Cook can be easily been care off with a kaiju... everyone should run a kaiju in a meta with Herald, Chaos max, Infinitrack Fortress Megaclops, etc pretty sure Underworld Goddess can also get rid of him. if they can't find an aswer in 40 turns, it's on them.
@@Badbufon oh they are just dont know the meta or how to build a deck? You know like a NOOB or casual, not everyone can be MLG pro...
@@aspreedacore the topic was if it was an unfair card. The card doesn't lock you out from playing. So it shouldn't be banneable.
About casuals... TH-cam is a free platform with access to deck lists, tips and tricks. You can type the name of the card or archetype that stomped you and learn how it works. Not reading required. But I understand that the game needs a casual / classic / low rarity / unga bunga mode for the new/boomer players. Beating their shitty Goat deck feels bad bro.
@@Badbufon even with those guides processing that info will be up to their skill level as well. The anime had a damn school for this game for a reason lol
This is hilarious, but I'm afraid a few duels using this deck would drive me mad along with my opponents
Just got recommended this 2 years later. During Yubel meta. Oh how things have changed.
Sending it to the hand deck or graveyard will work you just have to use a card that targets the player not the monster if a card forces the player to make an action then it doesn't count as effeting the monster
Something like Evenly Matched or the new Magickey XYZ can both do that.
Lol share the pain
I was thinking of Share the pain too lol
@@julianadams3710 well evenly wouldnt work because you would both control the same amount of cards.
Avenging Knight Parshath goes pretty well with this deck just as an fyi, since the psy monsters stars add up to 8
edit: I beat a dragon maid deck with just those cards trying out this deck lol
(Ah he mentions it at 8:45) There is another out to this I found - if the Cook player plays any card, even if it's a normal Spell that goes to the graveyard immediately after it resolves, Cook's protection from card effects is nullified, so responding within that chain can in fact kill the Cook. Granted, it relies on the opponent not knowing this, but it's something.
I fought this deck the other day! I managed to win by doing most of the dmg in piercing and then they used pot of duality and I chained so I could destroy while they controlled the spell (before it resolved so it was still on the field)
It's amazing how one card can ruin a man's entire day, Crooked Cook is a prime example.
Troll deck, kek
I went up against a very similar deck but i was using timelord burn never got to see the exodia part sadly.
Ways to get around this when its on the field are pretty rare (comparatively): Tribute it (Kaiju and Lava Golem pretty much), Special Summon to/Place a card on your opponents side if the field (not sure how many cards can do it outside of the tribute cards already specified), Direct attack, Piercing, Effect Damage (good luck), Decking (however you want to actually do that) and Insta-win. The most effective way is to just prevent the summon itself.
Most people going along the meta will probably be looking for a special summon to face strategy, where they get all of their heavy hitters (most with powerful effects) and defeat you through combat damage. Its one of the most effective ways to win a duel fairly quickly (optimal is one to three turns at most), especially if you have removal to get rid of obstacles between you and them.
Edit: Not saying this is a fun strategy, but I loathe the meta and think people really need to think outside the box again. Anything anti-meta will at least change the formula, hopefully for the better.
Lava golem doesn't work, because it needs 2 tributes and cook will be alone.
I just played against this yesterday, I refused to surrender, I kept playing against this brain dead for almost 40minutes and I tried everything ... I had one monster tha can hit directly but he hs to be alone on my field to do so, so I bricked for several turns, but then it hit me when he revealed head of exodia, he had something like 15 cards left and he's waiting for exodia, he uses pot so he has a lot of face down banished cards, so I diablosised his A$$ and I banished almost all what's left of his deck, he had like 2 cards left LMAO and heee surrendered, I felt so genius and powerful for the rest of the night
u wasted 40 mins for 1 win if u surrendered u could have won like 4 games
@@scary_skeleton6834 Well that's the point of yugioh bro, you don't run from fights. you have to outsmart the opponent and feel the rush of outplaying him, I dont care about the grind, I play dark magician 😂
I just had this happen to me, as soon as that freaking shark hit the field, I knew I was in shit. 😂
As soon as I read "meta slaves mad", I knew exactly what you were playing. Lol 😂
If you build the deck right it can actually be very OP, you can use Cook as a meat shield while bombarding the enemy with spells or buying time for you to draw your Exodia parts. It can go pretty well with cards that have their effect activated from hand or graveyard.
The only bad thing about playing Cook is that it usually takes half an hour for me to finish a match, because I don't have many negate, and the enemy can play solitaire before he/she deck out or before I can draw my Exodia.
It is also very boring cause I only spent 10 - 30 seconds finishing my turn while the opponent took 5-10 mins to finish theirs. I literally slept while waiting for them a few times.
In conclusion, you guys should play those meta decks instead of Cook. It is not fun at all.
Just play something else while your enemy is special summoning things. :)
Spells can get quite risky tho depending on whether or not they have to be placed down or not. :)
Agreed i was playing mass effect 3 on my 2nd monitor while i was waiting for my opponent to finish his turn
Correction: only use the deck for battling your friends
fuck the meta i still play this deck and watch netflix on another device 😂
I remembered that one time when a tri-brigade player tries to beat my extra-linked board by trying to destroy, banish, and return my unaffected Firewall Dragon (Gatchiri effect). When all efforts fail, he tries to attack it while I also have Avramaxx. And let's just say it didn't end well for him
I could imagine cooked cook is just chilling, unaffected making dinner while the army of monsters across the field are blowing steam out their ears trying to kill him.
I played against this deck last night but I don't think the person running the deck knew exactly how to set up the Cook properly and I just kept on attacking it until my opponent lost.
I’ve been playing solo mode an oh boy i like the two loaner decks they give you after you beat the first solo mission think it’s magic of pendulum an emergence of the monarchs i had bought the structure decks an they awesome to learn to use. 🔥
Pendulum magician is very fun to play, but the structure deck is very shitty compared to the real deal
Monarch can tribute cook.
"How tough are you?"
"I beat this deck"
"Yeah, so?"
"Without kaijus"
Looks like goddess fodder to me but indeed looks fun af
This is the reason why I use Goddess in my code talker deck, sometimes you just need that one card go away when 6k double atk access isn't enough
I’m pretty sure if you activate a spell and chain cook to it, that make him unaffected again, and if so, you could have ran dark hole because why not. Also chimera tech fortress dragon is a great card facing cyber dragons
The problem with chaining with cook is the chain starts when u remove a material, so ur opponent can respond and remove ur literal only play
on activation dark hole is a card on the field leaving him open for removal. if you chain 2 the destruction of the spell(or sangan), they can chain link 3 him out. the chain resolves backwards. you have to rely on them having no counter or not reading.
@@buckwheatbidoof7879 .
I know this is an old video and i probably won't get seen, but i have an out deck that don't give a flying fuq, qliphort, the out is getting both towers in the field. One tower isn't enough as your opponent can just out draw the effect with 2 your whittling down their hand until their forced to discard a card on the field.
If you curious about the towers effect it's at follows:
Cannot be Special Summoned. Requires 3 "Qli" Tributes to Normal Summon/Set. If this card is Normal Summoned/Set, it is unaffected by Spell/Trap effects and by activated effects from any monster whose original Level/Rank is lower than this card's current Level. All Special Summoned monsters lose 500 ATK and DEF. Once per turn: You can make your opponent send 1 monster from their hand or their side of the field to the Graveyard (their choice).
Most qli monsters have the ability unaffected but spell/trap or abilities of monsters of lower level/rank. Fair game for link monsters though, if i remember. The only one that doesn't is monolith (which you not really using as a monster).
Wait, I’m confused. Looking over the effect on the pause screen, it mentions “this card is unaffected by other cards’ effects.” But, how does that keep it from not being destroyed by battle?
Edit: Nvm, paused the video too early. I know see by using Right-Hand Sharks effect, it makes it unable to be destroyed by battle.
