Is the nutritional yeast the same as active yeast? Also, how come you didn't have to proof the yeast first (let it expand)? I want to make this today and that's the only kind of yeast that I have at the moment :(
Linda K hi! This is not the same as active yeast. Nutritional yeast is a seasoning that gives the sour cream a bit of “cheesiness “ if you don’t have it you can leave it out.
DeanRendar84 i just tried the kite hill sour cream and I really liked it! If you can dish out the money, it’s pretty expensive... I definitely recommend it!
shahrinal3 You can, it's just meant to add a bit of "cheesy" flavor. Make sure to get raw cashews, organic have a better taste but I know those are way more expensive. 😨
Does this taste anything like actual sour cream? I made tofu sour cream the other day and it was disgusting. I know I'll never get anything to taste EXACTLY like the real deal but I need something that at least tastes similar.
Hi! it all depends on the the sourness of your lemons. I prefer my sour cream to be really sour lol so I adjust the amount to my preferences. Also, it is vital to let the cashews soak or else it will come out grainy and not smooth.

I like to put it on the liquify setting and then when its done put it in a bowl and whip it with a hand mixer for better texture

I live in Mexico and I don't think we have apple cider vinegar but we have apple vinegar (vinagre de manzana) is it the same?
I'm like 90% sure it's the same thing! Its just used to give it the sourness, I always use lemons and if I don't have any I use limes :)
