I’d argue that Truestrike fits this build perfectly. One of Deku’s key weaknesses during the early parts of the story is his tendency to overthink and over complicate fights. Given that he has to mentally switch his powers on, it makes sense for him to use the spell and then outgrow it when his stats are better.

Superheroes are probably the hardest thing to replicate in DnD, even in older editions! Their abilities tend to be either so broad that it is hard to cover in one class (Superman) or so specific that you need to reflavor things and get a lot of weird abilities that don't fit (Spider Man). Of all your super builds though, the My Hero ones are so far the smoothest beyond the ones that are open ended to begin with. (Raven and Dr Strange are straight forward because their powers are literally just "magic")
I actually really like the concept behind this build. You're an absolute MONSTER offensively....for about two or three turns. Then you have to get clever and think tactically. Fun stuff. I know nothing about MHA, but this looks like a fun build.
I always thought of Charisma as Deku’s dump stat but bard actually works pretty well for get all the abilities. I made my own build after watching this using the new Astral Self Monk (reflavouring the astral form as full cowling) with a little bit of Wild Magic Barbarian to get some more durability, strength and other random quirks he gains later. The only thing I would change about this build is replacing College of Valor with College of Swords because you can boost your own damage (plus some small buffs) for some extra oomph and it surprisingly doesn’t specify that you need to use a weapon.
surprisingly good build. I'd personally tag out the capstone level for a 4th level of monk though, drop slow fall for basically any other spell because of slow fall, then take either crusher for the forced movement and the advantage on follow up attacks after a crit, or skill expert to reaaally push that 'anime boys are good at everything' angle just a bit further. Either way taking a +1 to con to push that up to 12 for a slightly better concentration save and 20 more hit points. ...that being said being said, i've DMed a game with a pallidin having foresight cast on them and the amount of horseshit a foresighted and hasted pally can get up to i can see why that would be a priority
Pretty good build overall, Tulok. I think a good feat for this Deku build to pick up early on, maybe even at 4th level, would be Fighting Initiate from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. It lets you learn a fighting style if you have proficiency in a martial weapon, and the Unarmed Fighting style (also from Tasha's) will give Deku 1d6 or 1d8 + strength modifier damage with his fists.
Start of the video: Bard?? Really?? I don't see that... A few minutes later: Okay, Tulok, you're a real genius. The only things I would change: getting Haste as one of the Magical Secrets and picking the monk levels earlier cause it was a long way before he started punching.

If you want to do a more armor type, you could consider the costume as armored since he started getting the braces and stuff. Instead of Monk perhaps use the Fighter with the Unarmed Fighting Style, get a d6 for damage and you'd get Action Surge which wouldn't be as versatile as the Monk's Ki Points but could still be fun and the Bardic abilities still cover a lot of issues. Love the work Tulok, looking forward to what else is coming from you
So I know the point of this video was to NOT use Variant human...buuut if you did you could take the Fighting Initiate feat to get access to unarmed fighting at level 1 and deal 1d8+Str mod for unarmed attacks. So you're dealing level 11 monk damage without being a level 11 monk.
Deku is known for his reckless attacks, while All Might has the more defined division between on/off mode. A version of this where you could only cast the other spells while under Tenser's Transformation would be an interesting way to make it fit for All Might.
Honestly my favorite part of Midoriya as a Bard is the fact that in the fantasy AU in some of the credits sequences, he's lightly armored and wielding a longsword-- Which Bards have proficiency with! Meaning that he could totally be a pure super-determined Bard trying his best to save his friends with smarts as well as powers when placed into a fantasy world.

My boi, Deku. Would love a Kirishima build someday -- wait, thirty-one videos this month. Wow. Feels dirty asking for more right now. Love the video, love the build; Tulok, you're awesome.
Personally would take the monk levels first so str could be dropped (in favor of +3 wisdom, Deku is very observant) and for martial arts and 18 unarmored ac. Sure the extra attack comes super late this way but it's a little offset through monks bonus action unarmored strike.
Originally, I thought Deku was going to be an Evocation Wizard with monk levels. The 14 level ability fits well with you literally taking damage to do max damage on spells. I realized that Deku doesn’t use spells that aren’t buffs so it wouldn’t work unfortunately. Keep it up Tulok, I love all the builds you have been doing
He is being thematic there. Midoryia dont really punch things that often, he mostly break his limbs doing those explosive things that Tulok chose to represent via spells like Thunderwave and Shatter
@@luisgusta not really. Midoriya is a close combat specialist and once he develops full clowling, the bone breaking isnt much of a thing anymore unless things get suuuuper serious
Thank you for this awesome month long blitz! I love the vids, the builds get turned into villains/recurring npcs in my games a lot of the time. So thank you! Also, the True Strike bit is absolutely hilarious.
Y'know, bard with Tenser's Transformation is actually perfect, now that I think about it. When he's not using One for All, Deku is just a smart and analytical guy who encourages his friends
I made a kenku affectionately known as Thump who, at high levels, on one turn could dish out 33D8 + 66 damage with his fists to one target (yes he was inspired by the first Nomu)
QOAH! you really blew up man. I just got this in my sub box and went "hey, havent seen one of these in awhile!" Didnt know you grew from 20kish to 120k. Good on you man. Keep it up
I have always been a defender of True Strike, especially for ranged or stealth builds. Especially when that that one shot REALLY matters. Especially with the fact that it is a cantrip, meaning no spell slots are used to do it. Warlock, True Strike, Spell Sniper, Eldritch Spear, Agonizing Blast, Eldritch Blast. On a max level warlock, you’ve got yourself an average 40 damage output, maximum 60, with a range of 600 feet and advantage to hit that ignores partial cover. Add the sorcerer’s Distant Spell Metamagic and we turn that insane range up to 11. Well, 12 actually. Hundred. It makes the range 1200 feet.
When is one shot gonna realistically be that important in 5e? Like most BBEGs have too many hit points to be one shot unless your DM allows stealth kills to be instant kills, in which case that just massively buffed the stealth skill to be an “I win” button
How to make any MHA character: Bard (customizable as frick plus everyone gets a cool moment) + Sorcerer or Monk (most of them fight either being long or short ranged)
Except Tail Boy, who is just Simic Hybrid (ask your DM to reflavor Nimble Climber as a tail, and switch it to Grappling Appendages at 5th level) that is a full Monk. Gi and everything. Also, Momo seems like a transmutation wizard to me, especially given how her quirk requires her to understand what she's making. That actually works twice as well, since she had to consult a book to make things, just like a wizard. Anivoice boy is just a druid, I think (probably circle of the Shepherd), and Sugar Rush is a classic Barbarian (Berserker, maybe?).
Simic Hybrid would be good for a lot of the mutation quirks, but personally I see Momo as a Creation Bard, if she had more power, she'd use it to beat the shit out the people who want "fanservice" from a minor.
if you’re willing to use dunamancy, okuyasu nijimura would be a really interesting build! pulse wave, a graviturgy spell, replicates the effects of the hand very well. if you gained it through magical secrets from 6 levels of lore bard, you wouldn’t have to worry about his low intelligence going into wizard levels. then, you’d just have to take levels in astral self monk, because hey, that’s a stand!
"Deku has more powers in the manga!" Good news folks! Magical secrets lets you pull spells from ANY LIST! So grab literally any spell of 8th level or lower if he gets more powers. Make "Greater Restoration" one of your bard spells, just replace Warding Winds or something. Done.

I don't even watch MHA, but your builds make me want to!
My boi, Deku. Would love a Kirishima build someday -- wait, thirty-one videos this month. Wow. Feels dirty asking for more right now.
Love the video, love the build; Tulok, you're awesome.
My god, he's finally did it...
I get that you wanted to get Tensers Transformation as quickly as possible, but Lv10 and punchy boy still cant punch?
Just throw the first Monk level in a bit early earlier, no biggie. I’d probably go for it at 2nd Level, because why not?
He is being thematic there. Midoryia dont really punch things that often, he mostly break his limbs doing those explosive things that Tulok chose to represent via spells like Thunderwave and Shatter
@@luisgusta not really. Midoriya is a close combat specialist and once he develops full clowling, the bone breaking isnt much of a thing anymore unless things get suuuuper serious
Not gonna lie, for a minute, I thought he was gonna Scott Pilgrim us again. Nope, just took a lot longer than expected to get those monk levels in.
@@luisgusta good point actually. He really didnt do a lot of punching in the earlier episodes and tensers fits full cowling pretty well
You honestly deserve more subs. You constantly put out great content and always leave me smiling by the end.
Thank you for this awesome month long blitz! I love the vids, the builds get turned into villains/recurring npcs in my games a lot of the time. So thank you! Also, the True Strike bit is absolutely hilarious.
On the second day of X-Mas, Tulok gave to me.
Two Idaho SMASHES
And a Mind Stone on a robotic frame
That transition to the Skillshare sponsor is fantastic
Y'know, bard with Tenser's Transformation is actually perfect, now that I think about it. When he's not using One for All, Deku is just a smart and analytical guy who encourages his friends
That's an amazing build, very unexpected
I made a kenku affectionately known as Thump who, at high levels, on one turn could dish out 33D8 + 66 damage with his fists to one target (yes he was inspired by the first Nomu)
A Lelouch Vi Britannia build would be really cool
A video every day! Absolutely legendary!!
QOAH! you really blew up man. I just got this in my sub box and went "hey, havent seen one of these in awhile!" Didnt know you grew from 20kish to 120k. Good on you man. Keep it up
I don’t particularly like Deku as a character; however, I’m giving this video a like and comment because I know that it’s worth more this month!
i appreciate your respect even if this isnt what you wanted [unlike most of the internet...]
This was awesome! I liked point buy explanation.
I was waiting for this for a long time, now plz make tsuna from khr in dnd
I like this build. I might even play it (though I’d swap the monk levels with fighter)
How to make any MHA character:
Bard (customizable as frick plus everyone gets a cool moment) + Sorcerer or Monk (most of them fight either being long or short ranged)
Don't break bones like Deku here, go for a much more tranquil approach, with a good game of Pai Sho. Uncle Iroh build please.
Youre the best tulok, good luck this month!
