Thank you for saying this. It’s really heartening to see other people try to spread awareness in support of disabled people, bc we are often overlooked and our needs neglected.
If one person stands up everyone behind them has to as well to keep seeing straight ahead, at least on level ground. But it's true that at some shows you should expect to stand
I think what she doesn't like is security and other making ppl sit when they are also allowed to stand. You allowed to sit for reason if you need to, but ppl are allowed to stand to enjoy the show, a lot of concerts have seats but not everyone will sit.
For my shorter friends, it's unfair but you definitely have to be at the front of the line buying tickets to shows you really care about that much... Don't get floor seats, try the seats at the front row so that nobody is in front of you. People dance at concerts, it will just always be a thing... The energy would be so dead if everyone were sitting 😔
Not everyone has thousands and thousands of dollars and music or TV connections or radio or political or business connections to sit front row. I saw a popular country singer listing tickets for front row floor seats for over 10,000$ a seat. Maybe I’m not reading the numbers right. I’m priced out. I don’t have connections. Doesn’t matter that I’m in a wheelchair or 4’9”. I don’t get to see no matter how long I’ve loved and listened to their music.
I actually don’t get this culture of being okay with people standing up in the seated category. Some people may not be able to stand for a long period of time (e.g medical reasons, they’re just more tired that usual that day, old age), and everyone in that category pays for seatings anyways, so it’s more fair to stay seated. I think you can show appreciation for the performer some other way: clapping along, smiling, singing along, or some concerts also use lightsticks. “Well if you have medical conditions or tired, then maybe you shouldn’t go to a concert”. I’ve seen these comments in some similar videos, but I think that’s kind discriminative? Just because you’re in a wheelchair, or maybe you have EDS (Ehlers-Danlos syndrome), you’re not allowed to watch your fave artists live? I know some concerts provide wheelchair category, but earlier this year I went to Las Vegas, and I bought seating category for katy perry, and there were some people in wheelchair behind me. Then people in front of me started standing immediately when the show starts, and the people behind me definitely couldn’t see the stage. But I understand that this is acceptable USA, and I was just a visitor, so I didn’t ask people to sit down or anything. I’m really glad that in my country (a country in asia, i dont wanna say bcs I don’t want my opinion to be generalized to all the people here) we already have this culture of staying seated if you have seating category. I think it helps that usually the promoter adjusts the seating arrangement according to the artists (ballad singers usually all seated, more upbeat singers have the options of standing & seating with wheelchair area). I understand that this is acceptable anyways in some countries, like the UK and the US, but I guess my point is, maybe this is something to think about, to be more considerate to more people while being able to still have fun in the concert. cheers ✌️
There are designated areas for those who need the accommodation at almost all concert halls. Adele is right on this one. She’s mostly addressing people who get mad at others for enjoying the show and dancing/singing. If I were to perform for a crowd I’d rather see people moving around and enjoying themselves than sitting still and quietly watching. It’s not an Oprah, It’s a concert.
there’s spaces for people with disabilities if they need it and the seated section is literally every section except for the pit the seats of there for the sport that is typically played in the arena or stadium not for concerts
Agreed. People can need seats for all kinds of reasons without having a diagnosed disability. If Adele wanted people to stand, she should have booked standing venues; instead she seems to have booked seated venues where people have booked and paid for seats, only to tell those same people it's "not a seated show". It would have been nice if she had stopped and considered her choice of venues and discussed their seating arrangements and policies beforehand, instead of allowing her agents to book seated venues, only to publicly complain at the likely underpaid staff (or volunteers!) for doing their job... It is not their responsibility to kowtow to Adele's whims in ways that contravene the Ts&Cs under which the venue was booked.
My brother is disabled. He cant go to concerts because he can't stand. People always stand and it makes him feel invisible and less than. The last time we tried was heartbreaking. He wanted to leave and cried.
I think it’s because if one person stands, everyone behind them must also if they are to see anything… if you are paying for seats and then are obligated to stand, it might not be very nice, especially if it is difficult for you to do so for long periods of time. Sometimes, annoying little rules exist because things work better and more smoothly with them 😅 and the people enforcing them are simply doing their job, not ruining the fun out of malice 😅

@@Bogebogbudicus exactly - I definitely don't want anyone else to stop enjoying things every way they can, it would just be really nice if they put the accessable spots somewhere where it won't be affected by them doing it.
My first thought too. I think Kanye did something similar during a concert. Can't remember the ending though. Either way, if they want people to stand, then there should be a dedicated spot that won't have an obstructed view for their wheelchair users.
So true! I joke that I wish my wheelchair had a lift (like for vehicles) that I could use so I can see when everyone stands up. lol Some places have areas where I go "obviously, someone who isn't disabled, and has never even sat in a wheelchair, created/designated this area..." 🤦♀️ 🤷♀️
I've considered this every time I've seen one of these videos :( I'm sorry

It’s supposed to be a disclaimer on a ticket than.

@@TheSmileycece i have a friend who's not technically disabled but she had a knee surgery and has screws inside it, and she can't stand for long because of the pain. For people in these situations you are not able to book those disabled seats, so you book regular seating places like these, and if an egotistical someone decides to act like this in front of you it's a shame, isn't it? Usually there are stand up places to buy tickets too, if you want to stand, buy a ticket for that. If the venue only has seated places and the artist wants people to stand, then they should choose places with both options 🤷♀️ also, you can stand without a selfie stick holding a gopro on you the entire time, like a complete jackass

@@TheSmileycece THOSE SEATS are usually at the side or at the back of a block area of seating. They aren't that often in the font row of a block of seats, where there's a walk space, then the next block in front is lower. That walk row/s can be difficult for some, as is busy & main thoroughfare.
ALSO, there's a lot of people that have mobility or standing issues bit aren't in a disability classification as fairly mobile (& as don't have the required cards) can't sit in those seats.
I know 2 people who have balance issues but they aren't classified as special needs, & can't get it (the card)

I have to admit. Never thought about that. Just I guess always though they're was a section for them so everyone could enjoy without discrimination. I really hope that's the case.
@@TyTyNYC84 there are (very small) sections for wheelchair users but that is only one disability there are many invisible disabilities
@@christiegrows2022 then perhaps certain concerts might not be the best idea to go. Especially the ones you can stream so someone isn't fully missing out. Other than that, love is tough and sometimes unfair. Which is big reason why someone would want to dance and escape when they go to a concert.

Thank you for saying this. If one person stands up everyone behind them has to as well to keep seeing straight ahead, at least on level ground. But it's true that at some shows you should expect to stand

@@loleo64Adele concerts are not seated shows, she states it
For my shorter friends, it's unfair but you definitely have to be at the front of the line buying tickets to shows you really care about that much...
You go girl
Just awesome 👏 ❤
I think it’s because if one person stands, everyone behind them must also if they are to see anything… if you are paying for seats and then are obligated to stand, it might not be very nice, especially if it is difficult for you to do so for long periods of time. Sometimes, annoying little rules exist because things work better and more smoothly with them 😅 and the people enforcing them are simply doing their job, not ruining the fun out of malice 😅
