Plastic tips work great with this method but I was always concerned using gel tips since gel adheres to gel. Glad I never tried and thanks for taking one for the team!

Addd cuticle oil before applying the poly gel to the soft gel tip. I’ve seen others do this and it helps removing the tip from the poly gel. I did this using the AB plastic full tips and the only thing I didn’t do was etch the tip and it came off with no issues.

I found this hack to be super helpful! I do things a bit differently with it. I use a clear form underneath so the gel will fully cure since I usually do a cover peach color. Then when taking the tips off, I use my pinching tool to release the sides as if I was pinching the nail as normal. Makes an air pocket so it pops off with ease. Also I use young nails cover peach gel. It is very viscous but is not a poly gel. Love this hack! Is a great game changer! Speeds up my application on myself with all of the structure. If any apex needs to be added, I do so.

Oh no, your poor nails! I could almost feel your pain just watching this. I think the problem was what a lot of other comments have said - the soft gel tips themselves were the problem. I'm thinking plastic tips would work fine for this. But like you said at the end, actual dual forms are so widely available these days for pretty much every budget and in pretty much any shape - I have some gorgeous Russian Almond ones myself. It's better to use the dual forms that are made for this purpose. Curious to see if you'll try this again using plastic tips. Hugs from Kentucky! 😘😘

I've never even bothered trying this method with soft gel tips because i knew it would just stick to it. However, i've used this method with plastic full cover tips plenty of times and it works wonders, just like dual forms or even better

I was always thinking why nail techs use nail dual forms instead of fake nails. Now I now the answer 😯 I'm just a person whose hobby is manicure with regular nail polish, so I don't have an experience with creating gel manicure. Oh dear, I'm sorry you had to go through all the worrying that taking off the tip would damage tour natural nails. ❤️

You probably know this now but I think when using a full cover tip you need to use an abs plastic tip instead of a gel tip because the hard gel/polygel whatever "gel" product you want to use will adhere to gel tips ... Love your video's
Edit: I really hate duel forms so I never use them, however I do use full cover tips on some clients that really love them but for most of my clients I use a tip or a form.

Tx for this video. Didn't try it yet because of like you said - the gel tip is designed to stay on your nail. It didn't make logic sense to use it as a dual form. So glad I waited. • @5MinuteNailArt
    @5MinuteNailArt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I have done this but applied a layer of peel off basecoat such as UNT to the underside of the softgel tip, allowing it to dry fully and then proceeding with the same process as you used in the video. I think that even without etching the underside of the softgel tips, the bonding between the polygel or any other gel product and the softgel tips still happens, whereas with a dual form, the plastic is a different chemical structure which will not bond to your structure product.
This does work much easier with basic ABS tips and can be done without a peel off basecoat with the removal of the form being much easier but still not as easy as with a dual form.
TFS and risking your nails for us!

I have the same thumb as you lol! I am using polygel mostly with regular full cover tips because I am allergic to HEMA, and for some reason these are less messy and easier for me to use. I do not react to them, tried 3 so far. I use my hand tool to get off pretty easily: it is a nail pick (comes from amazon with a small nail scoop and a spatula thing very tiny the icepick one--I call it--just works great). I know there's HEMA in it but it may not be the type that is worse for my allergy...I can't recall the info, but when I put it on they feel like my nails, no itching or feeling bulky or even painful. I do not get blisters or open sores on my nails or I wouldn't use it at all...just keep product off skin! Nice video. Thanks

I had a fail with this as well. I didn't realize the kit used gel tips. You could revisit this adding a thin layer of cuticle oil as a barrier between the tip and the hybrid gel. My builder gel stuck to the nail at the tip and broke off at the natural nail. I have stiletto shaped tips and hybrid gel (polygel which is technically a brand name) coming today and today and tomorrow.
This method requires normal hard plastic clear full cover nail tips they are made from the same kind of plastic the actual dual forms.

I've learned that you have to use ABS tips not gel tips because gel cures to gel and it hurts to remove it. You actually did the femi beauty method using the gel tip which looked so nice but they say you shouldn't have had to file so much. But this was interesting to watch up to the point I could tell you were hurting. So happy you did not hurt yourself more. I have such issues with techniques like this as I have large nail beds. My left thumb is 14mm+ most 0 size is 13mm so I have no choice but to practice the standard method.

Love your videos💗 Try watching Nail Career Education. She has a video on this technique and she calls it a poppit😁 From what I've seen, only the plastic tips work for this and come off smoother. I learned that the gel tips actually shrink and tighten once cured and actually adheres to tight to the poly gel. A smooth non abraised plastic tip works. I think some people actually put a little oil inside the tip to help it come off easier too. But I've never seen a soft gel tip work well at all. Hope this helps.💗💐

I do this all the time, but by the comments i just realised, that I'm actually using plastic ABS tips (though im pretty sure they are sold as soft gel tips but what do you expect from aliexpress).
I dont own polygel so I use hard gel with it. Cure for only 15-30 seconds, remove the tip then fully cure. Saves me a lot of time sculpting and filing as I'm not a pro who can flawlessly apply gel overlay.

Yess I learned this the hard way too, but I realized how dumb I was cuz polygel is sometimes used to adhere soft gel tips. Great alternative to the people who accidentally cure their soft gel tips on crooked, just a tiny amount of polygel and you can move it around to see if it fits right, without holding it, because polygel is soo sticky

Yikes! That looks terribly uncomfortable to remove! I’ve never seen this done with polygel. Only with a builder gel.

Question: When doing polygel nails (am I understanding this right), are you supposed to completely remove everything at four weeks? Or do you do fills? The more I learn about this stuff the more afraid I am to even attempt using that polygel kit I got....

Keep the fills to a minimum and do new sets because it can get infected easily after awhile

This happened because they are soft gel tips vs plastic tips. Gel sticks to gel so even with not etching the underside it’s still going to cling to the tip. Ugh I’m sorry you were in so much pain trying to get the tip off 😩

I've seen other use them but they usually dont go the full length of the nail form. They wiggle them and they pop off just like the dual forms. They should if they're made of the same material.

I tried this as well. It went about the same way. I did one nail at a time. The first one came off fine, the next I struggled with so I just with my dual forms with no issues ❤️

I do this all the time but with reinforcement gel. The tips pop straight off. It gives me a thinner coating of gel over a natural long nail than if I use dual forms.

Yikes! I’ve never had this issue when using high quality full cover tips. I use this method a lot

I'm reading the comments discussing plastic tips VS gel tips and thinking about how Young Nail's said they were the same thing.... but they still plastic tips and gel tips/ the "Apres gel X"method was creating a ton of buzz due to covid closing many salons 🤔
I ended mostly investing in gel tips, Apres to be exact because the lengths/refils etc, but I think if I were to try this is listen to the people and buy plastic tips. There may be a difference after all 🙃

If you use builder gel instead of polygel, it will work so much better. I do it all the time

You should try to use full cover tips to use like soft gel tips.
I've seen videos where the girls are getting 3 weeks out of them.
Its called the lazy girl method. I'd love to see you do it.

  • @paulabutler7007

If you want to take it off you need to use the efile and rough up the inside of the nail gel tip. To me it’s not worth it. I started with this hack and kept the tips on but after about 2 weeks the tips would just pop off and I didn’t like that.
I ended up using your video’s to learn how to use the poly gel forms properly. Now they last 3-4 weeks. Ty!!!

I do this all of the time, but i dont pop off the nail tip. The top is super smooth and i can decorate them before i put them on. (NOTE: The polygel wont dry through dark polish though)

Lesson learned, only use products for their intended purpose. Love these hack-busting videos!

  • @AutumnElaine

For short nail beds, twice smaller product would be good, because you don't need as big of an Apex. With Ana, you had a hard time finding dual forms that would work for her short length. Seems this could work if they aren't etched.
