    Just checked google maps to find out why there's a brick wall at the end of the runway and there's literally a green field with no houses on the otherside, there would definitely had been more survivors if there was no wall

      Two people were actually alive. How is a bigger mystery than the reason for that wall.
      Although at the speed it was landing I'm not sure there would have been a runway long or wide enough. It probably would have spun out as soon as the front hit the ground.

      we do not know yet what is behind those walls. maybe a major busy expressway that could potentially be more catastrophic if a plane would overshoot the runway.

      @@Sksk183m18 you realize that this aircraft a 737-800 can still lower gear manually this should have never happened. there is a gravity release panel on the floor next to the first officers seat that could have prevented this from even happening. regardless of hydraulic systems failing mind you all 3 systems would have to fail. but this aircraft also had to make an emergency landing 2 days prior. Bird strike or not 100% preventable. but lets see what the preliminary report says since it is an american aircraft boeing will be involved in the investigation.

      @@jaidenshadow2710Depends on the hydraulic system that failed. If it’s control surfaces, the pilot would be lucky to have the plane lined up and level, so I think I’d skip the TOGA in that situation just to try to lower the gear. Many use a special pavement material beyond the end of a runway called engineered materials arresting system (EMAS) that will break apart and slow down a plane that goes beyond the end of the runway. At least in the United States, a commercial airport is recommended to have at least 1000 feet beyond the nominal end of the runway for overshoot, and some airports use this special material. Especially if they don't have the recommended space using traditional pavement.

      I can assure you, flying is still the safest mode of transportation, even if the airline is from Nepal (one of the worst country for aviation safety) as your chances of dying from a plane is 1/11 million instead of 1/5000 (for driving), and each year aviation safety gets better.

    It seems like a mindless planning oversight to have a wall like this right next to the runway.
    This Christmas has been terrible for aviation, two planes slid off runways in Norway, the Russians shooting down another passenger jet, and now this. Terrible.

    • @TaivaAlkifasa
      @TaivaAlkifasa 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      actually, the plane crashed into a small hill, like an embankment. If you see closely, the concrete wall was actually a bit far, and the plane was already destroyed before hitting the concrete wall, since the debris simply went airborne for a few seconds.

    Bird strike made the landing gear malfunction? The media is mind conditioning us to believe that it is not the lack of maintenance that caused the accident.

      @tylermasonry8282 We don’t know what happened. The 737-800 has three levers located beneath a floor panel within reach of the copilot. Pulling the levers releases the gear up lock and allows the landing gear to free fall into position. Dunno how both that and the hydraulics could have malfunctioned, or why the reverse2 wasn’t deployed.
