- I show you how to clean and lubricate your motorcycle chain as part of the routine maintenance schedule for your motorcycle. Cleaning and lubricating your drive chain will extend the working life of your motorcycle drive chain and sprockets. Given that a dirty chain and sprockets will reduce the ability of your engine to efficiently transfer drive power to your rear wheel, sapping the power you enjoy so much.

Pro tip: Buy some cardboard that is slightly taller then half of the wheel height on the stand, and cut a half circle on top for the axel and rim. That way, it wont move and you will block the entire wheel from any cleaning product or lube. Also, be careful when you spin the wheel by hand with dirty gloves. You'll get all the muc, oil and lube on the tire.
Great idea!
I was thinking doubled or tripled newspaper might work too. And lol at "buying" cardboard. Since the advent of Amazon I could start my own box company.
How often do you feel you need to clean and lube your chain? Curious to hear the results!
Literally I,ve never cleaned 😢
mine, once a week, not too sure it its overkill but i like dem shiny and clean
BMW says every 3 tank fills. I do it about every two weeks. Having a "thinking" job, actually sitting and doing some manual work feels therapeutic to me.
Every 1000kms
some over kill , I have gone a thousand miles and no clean, guy at dealer says every to tank fulls of gas do it LOL BS I hate cleanig fkin chain
Thanks for making this. Just what I needed to see.
I guess your video is the only one showing the correct method. I saw other video they let the tyre run while applying the lube which is very dangerous
Nice vid! Thank you👍
How did you Not get chain cleaner on wheel when you sprayed it?
What is the jack called? If you don't have that, are there any other tricks to rotate the wheel?
I just bought the rear paddock stand from cycle gear and it works just as well
I mean you can just kick it it neutral and roll it down your driveway or around your garage.
Your ride is so Classy 🤩🤩 bro 🔥
how can one tell you are from canada
how long after the clean and lube until you ride it? I used too much
If u ever do this u can pat it down
I just used it on my hypermotard and its super sticky. Is that normal?
yes just be careful to not overspray it to rear tire
Is there any specific reason why you do not use Kerosene anymore? Found this video after your old one from 5 years ago.
Because o-ring chains are on basically every bike now
😎
Hi, maybe dont use Motul on a chain that uses O/X/Z-rings since it penetrates the rings (Which you do very much not want). Ruined my first chain in under half a year... Fortnine made some videos that showed that for cleaner Ipone chain cleaner worked well, and for grease 80w-90 gear oil was good for chains with O/X/Z-rings.
Motul C1 is safe for O/x/z ring chains bro. I think you just had some bad luck, we'd all know by now if this was a common issue. Ryan gets a little "too scientific" sometimes.
Just use diesel to clean chain..more better and cheap..😊😊
Cleaning chain with motul cleaner is way too expensive, you'll be wasting new chain+sproctets worth of money over the chain lifetime. Just use diesel fuel for cleaning, and gear oil for lube, and you'll need to clean the chain much less often, and it will actually last longer that if you use specialized lube, because gear oil attracts way less grit, that is destroying your chain. Oh and keep your chain properly adjusted, don't overtighten it, this is actually the most crucial aspect to make your chain last.
You don't need that expensive shit! Lol and cardboard is your friend. Lol
Shouldn't the back of the chain be lubricated also.
No
Simple and straightforward.
Very helpful, and much appreciated.
Thank you.
